I am sure that this is something obvious, but I can't find the answer so I thought I would ask the experts.
I have a large selection of text, that automatically breaks half way through some words (adding a hyphen) at the end of the line, where I would rather it just start that word on a new line.
Our company recently upgraded to the Creative Cloud, but our problem occurs with our customers who have yet to upgrade from CS5. We provide the files in PDF format, but unlike with .ai files, I can't find a way to save a PDF in CS6 making it fully compatible with CS5. It's of course possible to open the PDF in CS5, but the text gets fragmented into clusters of sometimes words, sometimes a few letters, which makes it unwieldy for customers who need to edit the original.
Is there any way I can save a PDF in CS6 so it retains the text as in the original, when opened in CS5?
I have a document of 300 pages or so of flowing text which I wish to edit into chapters.
Ideally I would like to select the start of a line of text and place it at the top of a page where it will then stay without breaking the paragraph links, as in Word (this also maintains the word count across the whole document).
Alternatively, could I simply break the paragraph links? When I attempt this now with Arrange/Break Paragraph Text, all that happens is
that a new page with an unlinked text frame appears, but the 'before' and 'after' pages are still linked, which defeats the objective.
The only way I've found to divide the document up is to copy it whole and then delete pages before and after the required chapter breaks and then reassemble them into one document, which is pretty laborious.
I'm sure I'm missing something really basic here.
I use this program for a long time, but never before I have had to use this tool in this way. Could the text be arranged as shown in the figure without breaking Callout Group Apart, and if so, how?

Is there a way to edit the text in a symbol instance without breaking the link to the symbol?
a really simplen example would be several instances of the same button graphic but with different labels.
I know these things are possible in Fireworks, but couldn't find a way to make it happen in Illustrator.
I have created a ribbon in Photoshop and now I need to have the ribbon break into small squares at the end of the ribbon. I am looking for someway that will take a part of the ribbon and break it apart. Does anyone know how to achieve this? I hope this makes sense!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am in the business of 3d design, and have recently been learning a lot about the software I use. It works best with square textures (512x512 and maybe 1024x1024). Some of the textures i create for my models are tall and narrow, or short and skinny. For example, on a 600 foot skyscraper, my texture may be 1024x4096. What I normally do is manually cut this image into 4 textures that are 1024x1024, and apply them to their respective places on the face so the exporter doesn't diminish the quality as much. (The exporter I use takes the longest dimension of the face in the 3d model and reduces it to 512px wide, and so in this example the short dimension would become 128px, which is very low res, imo).
Is there a script that would better serve my purposes here, that would breakwhatever image i am editing in Photoshop into square chunks?
In the most extreme case, I had to take an image that was 1024x24576, and chop it into 8 different images, and i remember this process being difficult to accomplish seemlessly.
i have multiple gang scans, some of them containing 15 images or more. they are scanned at 400dpi and are extremely large files i want to break the component images into their own unique files and save them as tiffs in exactly the same format that they are in now. i want to make sure i dont compress them or change the info in any way except for file size.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a URL link in a CS6 InDesign document, InDesign is immediately discarding the "?," "=," and " &"characters and rereformatting them incorrectly, breaking the link.For the record, it's turning the:
? into %3F
= into %3D
& into %26
Upon further research, I see that InDesign is encoding these characters unneccessarily, since they only need to be encoded when they're not being used in URL syntax, which they are here.

View 7 Replies View RelatedImagine a flat box or cube (20 x 20 x 2) with many subD's so that it look like more a 3D plane rather than a cube. Is it possible to "pinch" off a peice off a piece of geometry off of the cube corner by using a mod so that the pinched piece literally breaks away from the parent piece? It can stay as the same object or a new object piece can be created..it doesn't matter, as long as I can animate the pinched off peice separately.

I have done some interviews using a Nikon D90 (only thing at hand; build in microphone and bad audio). Now I need to clean the sound and focus on human voice – and hope the Audio Filter in VS will do the job.
If I split audio to apply filters, can I then continue to edit my project just as before – or will I break things when adding new clips, photos, titles etc.?
Say we needed a similar assembly under the same file with a few modifications, like a guardrail for instance. All I have ever had to do was copy the folder with the assembly and parts in it and rename the folder and assembly to change the link to another folder. Opening the assembly quickly prompts me for a part or two in the new folder then I am good to go. A coworker of mine who runs the same computer and version of Inventor never gets that request. When the assembly is opened in the new folder it automatically links it back to the previous file regardless of changing the folder etc.

I have several assemblies where I've linked parameters between sketches. I need to copy some of these files for re-use in other un-related assemblies. What is the best way to break the link between the files? They are going to be used in the same project.

Attached is a screen snipe of design that has a hydraulic cylinder in it. I've created contact sets for the rod and the cylinder however they keep breaking appart especially when I insert them into an assembly and drive to drive the constraints in a positional representation.

Is there a way around this other than drawing a new spline on top of the projected geometry and working with the new spline?
The idea was to project the shape, break the link, then ,ove the shape to a new location in preparation for a lofting procedure.
We are having a pretty large annoyance where anytime you open a part with a decal, a message comes up saying there is a newer decal, and asking if you want to check out the decal. From digging a little bit I have found that this is caused by the decal being linked to the image. I however have not been able to find a way to break the link on an already created and vaulted part.
If so, how is this link removed?
I'm the only one out of a bunch of guys using 2012. Others in my office are using either 2010 or 2009. They can set up Excel tables with links and have no troubles but, the minute I try to edit one the link gets broken. I also have an issue where if I highlight the border of the OLE, right click, and try to open the OLE... I get a small error box saying that the server application has failed.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi've got a strange problem: when zooming images in the GIMP (2.8.2, installed from archlinux [extra]), viewing them larger than the size they are being automatically zoomed to by default, they break up into unconnected, rectangular tiles.
moving (panning) them around with the mouse so that they partially leave the screen brings those parts back to be displayed properly. means i have to 'swivel' the image across all borders to get it to display properly.
in addition, applying scissors or path tool leaves artefacts on the image that can be removed the same way.
i've noticed this first with the development version of GIMP (2.9, compiled from GIT) and thought those were the new GIMP's growing pains -- but then i noticed the same happening with the stable version (2.8).
i've tried switching to an earlier version of xf86-video-ati and to an earlier kernel, but neither rectifies the problem. i also tried different options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ 20-radeon.conf, whith the same result, i.e., none.
seems to have something to do with the image being refreshed, or not being refreshed, but which part of the system is at fault baffles me.
i'm using arch +testing, and here are my system's details:

How do you break multiple lines along a line?
I.e. you have ten horizontal lines 3m long and one vertical line running down the center of the 3m lines. I need to break the horizontal lines in two where they touch the vertical line without having a line smaller then 1.5m.
On a single line I can do it using the F command and clicking twice on the intersection but is it possible to select multiple lines ant the same time and use the crossing line to cut along?
I have this object (shape path) that is like a continous loop or ribbon. see below:
I would like to break it into two seperate shapes: a top half, and bottom half. I need to remove some between them though.
Unfortunately, I cannot make the scissor tool, knife tool or cut path tool work correctly. It just doesn't seem to work, no matter whether I have anchor points selected or not.
I have also tried duplicating the object and trying to delete anchor points until I'm left with one of the shapes. However, because of the ordering of anchor points, I end up with a blue line connecting one end of the object to the other.
I try to drag something - either a whole shape, a point or when I'm using a tool like the pencil or the knife and need to have a continuous path, Illustrator is glitching on me. It keep breaking my path and jumping a little even though I never let go of the mouse. Or when I'm trying to copy and paste something by dragging, it will suddenly unselect it, paste it where it was and then copy another shape. Crazy thing is, my mouse works fine on everything else non-Illustrator. It's happening in two different versions on two different computers, one of which has CS6 and is a brand new iMac.

I'm currently sitting with the following problem in CorelDraw 11:
I have four circles, one inside the other, with the circles getting smaller towards the centre. I want the two outer circles to be joined and the two inner circles to be joined. Text will be placed on top of these circles and I want to cut out those sections of the circle which will be covered by the text. The circles will also be filled with different colours. Simply placing the text on top of the 'rings' is not an option as the there are also two logos on the right which cover part of the circle (the part which I want to 'cut' out).
I've tried Combine and the Knife tool but somehow I just don't seem to achieve my goal. This would be a lot easier to explain if I could upload a PDF of the image.
I am using 2011 version of inventor.
In drafting while creating note of hole there is no breaking point for arrow there is only straight arrow line( pls find attached file of DIM 01). I am not getting any setting for the same.
I want notation having breaking point. ( Ref attachment Dim -2)
