Using PS Elements 11 on Win 7 computer. Some photos I open are displayed at 72 ppi resolution. Other photos open at 180 or 300 ppi resolutions. What determines this? How can I specify the ppi resolution to always use when opening a photo.

View 3 Replies View Related4705.sample2.tifOur customers have given us some black and white .tif Monochrome Bitmap images at 400 ppi (see attached sample) and 600 ppi of some scanned black and white engineering drawings. Some of the small text on the drawings is not very legible because open areas are filled in with black. Some of the vertical and horizontal lines are ragged (digitized) on the edges. Is there any way that I can improve the visual quality of these Monochrome Bitmap images in Corel Draw (which I use) or Corel Paint (of which I'm not very knowledgeable, or adept)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Maverick last fall which caused my PSE11 to slow way down so I recently purchased PSE 12 thinking it would be compatible to Maverick. At this point it is not. Everything works even slower than it did with PSE 11. Is there a patch or an upgrade or a procedure that will improve the work flow speed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a template to create multi photo collage in Photoshop, I can't make the numbers go away. Did it once and saved the file wrong, am now having a print made with numbers on every photo. Very frustrated new user. So far, do not like working with this software.  Takes entirely too much time to figure out how to use all the functionality.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to piece together a mock magazine cover using photos and text. If I open a photo it automatically sets it at 72pix/inch. I understand that to print quality text, the resolution needs to be a lot more. Is this photoshop settings or my camera?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat resolution do I use to enlarge a 3”x4” photo into one that is one that is 3 ‘x4’? I am using S-Spline (PhotoZoom) which is similar to Genuine Fractal to enlarge pictures. I am also using Photoshop 6. Obviously, a photo enlarged to 3’x4’ at 300 dpi would probably crashed my computer. Is there a mathematically way to determine resolution when enlarging photos?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am learning Photoshop on my own. I am using CS4. I need some help in understanding the resolution thing.
If I have a photo taken with a digitala camera at 6 megapixel and I want to load it on Photoshop for a few tweaks and adjustments what resolution should I assign? I usually choose 200 pixels/inch.
Secondly, does it affect the image if the resolution assigned on Photoshop is lesser than the camera resolution?
I do not take prints of my Photoshop works. Just in case I need to print them I need to make sure that the resolution is appropriate.
I use PS 7 and learning fast.
The default resolution when I open a photo, is set on 72 pixels per inch. This produces a photo with not a lot of detail and my previews are not the same as the end result. I have read somewhere that it is better to work on 300 dpi. Is this correct?
And if so, how do I change the default setting?
Or should one always work on 72 and occasionally change to 200-300 dpi?
I have a photo that I copied from an Power Point Presentation which looked great on Power Point but when I have it in PS I noticed that the image size is just 2.507x1.028 with a res. of 576. Pixel Dimensions are 2.45M
I would like to print out a larger version of this photo but I'm not having much luck with it. It gets blurry when I try to enlarge it.
It was on Power Point as PNG graphic and I saved it to the desktop as a Gif andthen dragged it into PS.
Don't know much about Power Point maybe there is a better way to transfer pics from it.
I changed to 6 x 4 resolution. I put the photo paper plus glosssy in my printer and printed it out but it's too small. What happen?

When I resize a photo and close it, When I open it again the size and resolution has changed. Why?

Example -
(setq List_DN (list 1 2 3 5 6 7 10 11 12 17))
Missing numbers are - 4,8,9,13,14,15,16
I would like a subroutine to take the List_DN are return the following missing numbers as text

I would like to prepare some photos for Retina display screens (not for printing) and was told that in order to do this, I need to increase the resolution of my images from 72dpi to 240dpi.
Â
Many of my original photos are 3000 x 1875 pixel size at 72dpi resolution. What I wanted to know is that if I uncheck 'resample image' in the 'image size' dialogue box and increase the resolution from 72dpi to 240dpi, will my image suddenly be Retina ready without ANY loss of quality?
Â
I find it hard to get my head around the fact that you can simply raise the resolution of an image in this way with no adverse affect to the quality.
Photoshop CS6 no longer has the Pattern Maker nor supports the plugin that was available in CS5. Any software or 3rd party plugin that will create patterns from high res photo files? I've searched in Google, like crazy, but alas have found nothing.
 Â
BTW, for compatibility issues, I'm using OSX Mountain Lion.
I am trying to link my parts list to a drawing however all balloons have different numbers.Â
I open the assembly and check everything out from vault I open my bom and change item numbers. When I get back to my drawing and apply for auto balloon I get completely different item numbers in my balloons. We just updated our software to a new 2012 version so it's maybe something with set up.Â
Is there a way to sync callout numbers to correspond with note numbers. When I add or delete notes in my drawings it takes to much time to update the callout number in the drawings. I need to figure out a way for the note and corresponding callout to change at the same time.
