View 2 RepliesIs it possible to change the resolution when exporting a photo to Facebook using either the regular plugin or Jeffrey Friedl's plugin? I can't seem to do it; I only have control over the image dimensions, not the resolution and the dimensions, as you can see in the screen shots below:
I have control over both when I export to my hard drive (or a flash drive, etc.), as you can see below:
I can't find the option to control the resolution when I try to export to Facebook. Before I got Lightroom 4, I would create whole new low-resolution files of images I wanted to post online using Photoshop. The image size settings I would use are a longest edge of 10 inches at 72ppi, and I would like to continue doing this. If I can only set the longest side to 720 pixels (I can't even seem to set the longest edge to an inches value - I can only choose a pixels value) and not change the resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi, then my photos' longest edge will only be less than 3 inches long (right?). Thus, I really want to be able to upload low-resolution photos to Facebook via Lightroom with the ability to change both the resolution and the image dimensions. How to do it without having to export to my hard drive first?
I am trying to upload photograths to facebook and I get to 8% upload and elemts throws up an error message, check your firewall, done and access is allowed. Also have disabled my firewall, still no joy. Also, check you internet, which is excellent signal.I have uploaded hundreds of pictures previously

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've always had this problem when I create images using GIMP, where any red I use gets distorted on upload and looks blurred. I usually convert to JPEG, but have tried using BMP and PNG and it makes no odds. It only does it with red.
Why this happens with red only? Or tips for how to stop it? I know there is some compression involved but it's fine with every other possible color.
I have not been available to upload the graphic to Facebook fanpage. Has this feature been blocked via the trial version?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a large number of landscape images (golf course holes) that are 1600x1200 pixels and I would like to be able to print them at an image size of 8.5"x11.0" with 300dpi.
Â
Would I be better off using the resampling capabilities of CS6 or Perfect Resize 7.5 (I do not currently own this software but can afford it) to "upsample" the image or scanning the smaller prints (4.0"x5.3" at 300dpi) with a larger number of pixels and then re-printing the images at the larger size? Note; I own a Epson Perfection V750M Pro scanner that is capable of 6400x6400 scans.
Â
I realize I can have a 30-day free trial of the Perfect Resize 7.5 but thought I would try the forums before I went to the trouble of downloading and using this new software and then comparing it to the scanned and reprinted images.Â
what is the best resolution do you use when uploading images on the net to avoid grabbing/stealing of photos? (ex. on facebook, flickr etc)

The main issue being, if Perfect Portrait is launched and there are 2 or more faces in the image, Perfect Portrait crashes, when launched as a standalone program there is no such problem.I have done all the usual stuff, updated graphics drivers, updated Windows allocated 80% plus RAM to Photoshop, but to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Monaco EZ color Optix color calibration system. The unit has a sensor that is used to calibrate your monitor and comes with a 4x6 color print that (with the help of the users scanner) can be used to calibrate your inkjet printer.
I've used this system for a year and it works quite well. Lately, I've been using Sams club photo center for my prints. The prints are a close match to my screen, but not perfect.
To get perfect prints, I have done the following (kluge) which works, but is very time consuming. I'm looking for the correct way to "Calibrate the Sams club photo printer".
I pretend Sams club photo center is a printer. I had them make a 8x10 photo of the Monaco printer calibration file. I then followed the printer calibration proceedure as if the Sams club photo center were my printer. This results in an ICC profile for the Sams club photo center.
Now in Photoshop, I print my images using this ICC profile to the "Adobe distiller printer" that I have, which makes a .pdf file, with the corrected print in it. I then "extract" a .jpg or .tif file from the .pdf file, and send the resulting file to Sams for printing.
As I said above, this works but is very combersum. Is there a way to do this directly in Photoshop. All I am doing is applying an ICC profile to the RGB of an existing file to create a new file.
I had been using Photoshop Elements 10 with Perfect Photo Suite 7.5 as a plug-in. Last week I updated to Perfect Photo Suite 8 and it worked fine as a plug-in with PE 10. Yesterday I updated to Photoshop Elements 12 and Perfect Photo Suite is not showing up as a plug-in. How do I get Perfect Photo Suite to plug-in PE 12?

I can make a perfect circle and position it in draw but that is not useful.

I know that Facebook reduces the resolution for Facebook cover page and profile picture. However, I have noticed that there are many Pages that uploaded beautiful Cover photo without any reduced resolution (apparently).
Â
For example: URL....can also check out these pages, they have pretty awesome looking Timeline photos!

I've tried using the "magic" size format of 850 x 350 , but it seems that the quality will still be reduced no matter what. The above pages' photos are always pretty clear and not blur like normal pages.
I've been trying so hard to upload high quality photos on facebook but the compression used by facebook is just so bad that all the hours used to edit the photos is left in vain. There seem to be an action uploadable on Photoshop to keep the quaity of the photo before uploading it to facebook. Is there a similar action/present for lightroom 5 as well?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am learning Photoshop on my own. I am using CS4. I need some help in understanding the resolution thing.
If I have a photo taken with a digitala camera at 6 megapixel and I want to load it on Photoshop for a few tweaks and adjustments what resolution should I assign? I usually choose 200 pixels/inch.
Secondly, does it affect the image if the resolution assigned on Photoshop is lesser than the camera resolution?
I do not take prints of my Photoshop works. Just in case I need to print them I need to make sure that the resolution is appropriate.
I use PS 7 and learning fast.
The default resolution when I open a photo, is set on 72 pixels per inch. This produces a photo with not a lot of detail and my previews are not the same as the end result. I have read somewhere that it is better to work on 300 dpi. Is this correct?
And if so, how do I change the default setting?
Or should one always work on 72 and occasionally change to 200-300 dpi?
