I am opening some 300 dpi photographs, but when I go to the "scale image" dialog box in Gimp, the image resolution is listed by default as 72dpi !!
But the pictures were shot in high-res, and when you look at the file properties or open the image in Photoshop, they all confirm that it is a 300 dpi picture. Only Gimp is presenting it as 72dpi. It happens that the photographs are bw, but the color mode is RGB, not grey scale.
How I can stop Gimp down sampling the images automatically if that's what is happening?
I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version -Â Â 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.Â
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?
I have a large number of landscape images (golf course holes) that are 1600x1200 pixels and I would like to be able to print them at an image size of 8.5"x11.0" with 300dpi.
Â
Would I be better off using the resampling capabilities of CS6 or Perfect Resize 7.5 (I do not currently own this software but can afford it) to "upsample" the image or scanning the smaller prints (4.0"x5.3" at 300dpi) with a larger number of pixels and then re-printing the images at the larger size? Note; I own a Epson Perfection V750M Pro scanner that is capable of 6400x6400 scans.
Â
I realize I can have a 30-day free trial of the Perfect Resize 7.5 but thought I would try the forums before I went to the trouble of downloading and using this new software and then comparing it to the scanned and reprinted images.Â
resize this image into a resolution of 1280x768 (height = 1280px, width = 768px) and keep the blank background. I know the original 'X' is in a square shape so I'm unsure if it can be put into this vertical rectangle shape. I want the four coloured bars to continue into each of the corners and also do another copy with a sort of glossy reflective look applied to the colours if possible. Maybe also as the image is being enlarged, make the bars slightly wider so they don't look long and skinny
View 5 Replies View RelatedCan someone please explain to me about file sizes and image dimensions. I have to put together a collage which is 165mm high by 258mm wide. If I click file new and choose default resolution (72) then the file size is ok, if I type in 300 dpi the image becomes huge.
If i chosse 300 dpi then the images I was going to use seem tiny on such a vast workspace - Im confused why does the canvas become so large when changing resolution?
My Plugin does not use global suite references. Instead it acquires and releases suites as required. The problem is with the panel. I want to get the size of the panel when the size is changed (so I can change size of embedded wxpanel accordingly). To get the size, I need to acquire panel suite. However, the SetSizeChangedNotifyProc callback method only provides panelref and no message or anything else. How can I get the suite in this scenario?
Â
Also this piece of code to embed wxpanel inside aipanel, handle resize etc is going into a dll so that it can be used by multiple plugins. So I do not want to use global suite ptr.

I have tried to resize using it and the file stays the same as the original.
When converting the colour of a Jpeg to CMYK in Photoshop CS5 the file size is increasing.
Â
The original image is 352KB and after saving as CMYK it is 2.1MB
Â
Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
Â
I'm using a lot of images for a print project so need to keep file sizes small with resolution of 300dpi. The image dimensions are really small, only about 30mm high so they shouldn't be this large a file size
Â
I am using a clipping path but this doesn't seem to be effecting file size (I checked by saving it as RGB with a clipping path which stayed small, and by saving one without a clipping path in CMYK which was huge)
the area around the photo of my painting has changed from black to blue. I need it to be black.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA friend took a digital photo with his camera best quality, tiff, and PS showed it had a 72 dpi resolution but a big size: about 70 x 60 cm. (I don't remember the pixels size but it looked high).
I thought the resolution was very low for obtaining a good print but it can be printed with good quality at a 16 x 20 in size. Which is the equivalences between resolution, image size and pixels size? How you convert one mesure to another? Can I forget about resolution and care only about pixels size?
I just got a issue when I use 'save as web' to save png or gif. when i chose the 'clip to artboard' the size for content will be changed. maybe smaller 1 px for both weight and high or only high. most ot the result will be cut off the buttom. I use 100 px circle with 2px stroke to test this (align the stroke with outside). I set the artboard fit to bounds of the art. so the artboard size should be 104 x 104 px. but when try to 'save as web'. the result will be changed.
Â
I post the graphic below:
how can I avoid this issue?
How do i reduce the ppi's of a given image in the Photoshop CC? Changing it in the image size, in the Resolution field, it accomplish nothing. It logs an entry in the History panel, but nothing changes in the picture. Did Adobe changed how this works, or it's just a bug?
View 38 Replies View RelatedI have been a Photoshop user since it was on floppy disk. Now I use CS2. My hobby is photography and Photoshop, of course, is a natural extention of that hobby. Despite all the years of using it I am anything but a master. Maybe a master of slow learning. I got a degree in that. Currently I am assembling sport collages and therein lies the rub.
Firstly, I work in jpeg. Everytime, no matter what I set my target size to (the frame) when I drag a photo in, it seemingly jumps to a larger size inside the frame. I am expecting it to be semi-locked at the size it is set to, normally 4 X 6, and maintained, relative to the frame, at that size when dragged to that frame.
This latest frame is 24" X 36". I drag a 4 X 6 picture in it and it's bigger than the frame. How can I consistently constrain the picture size I drag in and what am I not understanding about this process?
I know it's wrtten down in black and white, and we have covered this before. I am mainly designing little hand out flyers printed on that thin, glossy, card board, 4 x5 flyers, and cd album covers. Is it safe to go with the color profile Adobe RGB (1998) setting? If not what is? When I create these projects do I create the canvas with the size I am printing out in? For instance 4.75" x 4.75", and I am not sure on the resolution to go with. The res always gets me. I read about it, and it doesn't click for me. It starts out with a default of 72, but when I view as print size it looks smaller on screen. I am doing a big project for a big Minnesota band, and I don't want to mess it up. Especialy dropping in font so it doesn't look "pixly", shrinking photos so they don't lose quality is another one I haven't mastered yet. I have 4 days after tomorrow to complete this project. It's all from scratch except for the font which they are putting on disk for me. Little time to research, so I am asking for a huge favor. I want to make a good impression. This is my ticket for a free billboard.

I have an image in a folder...finder/explorer tells me that it's 638px X 479px, and 234KB.
I open it in Photoshop and go to Image Size. PS says it is indeed 638x479pixels, but that it's 5.4" x 4.06" at 300pp and the "pixel dimensions" add up to 895KB?
(Then, when I place it in InDesign, at 100%, it measures around 2.1" x 1.6"? What's going on? If I input those dimensions into the Image Size dialogue box in PS, without resampling, it would have to be 750.25ppi. Obviously it's not.)
I've noticed that when I open a jpeg file on Photoshop CS2 from my computer the files will open with different resolutions e.g. 72 ppi, 180ppi, or 300ppi. even when they are from the same camera set to the same compression i.e. superfine, and large. Why does this happen and what can I do if anything to prevent this?
Does it matter if the resolution is set to 72,180 or 300 if I have these photos downloaded to one of the online photo developers like Walmart or Walgreens.
I am using the brushes within Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
I made a tiff out of the psd file. I put this into InDesign so I can add text.
When I print from InDesign, the brushes (not all of them, but mostly the butterflies, flowers...stuff from the nature set) come out in low res. It looks kinda blurry when printed. I have the image set to 300dpi..is there something else I can do with the brush settings?
I like to have images in 300 dpi resolution. I notice that, if I specify a certain size image, say, 11 x 14 at 180 dpi, it prints out a different size than 300 dpi although the length and width are showing up the same .... 11 x 14. I've never really understood the correlation between dpi and resolution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to piece together a mock magazine cover using photos and text. If I open a photo it automatically sets it at 72pix/inch. I understand that to print quality text, the resolution needs to be a lot more. Is this photoshop settings or my camera?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a rule that will replace the border sheet when the sheet size will be changed, so users won't have to do it manually.
The problem is that the rule won't run when the sheet size is changed. I find that events for triggering the rules are rather few under drawing enviroment.
I thought to use "iProperty Change" event, providing I assign the SheetSize to a Custom iProperty, but the iProperty won't update automatically as well.

Using the Erase with the ALT key use to erase in a straight line from one point to another point. Now after installing Update 3 this key combination is used to interactively adjust transparency (a new feature according to the release notes).
Is the point-to-point erase feature gone or can I somehow adjust settings to get it back? Or is there now another key used for this?
