Sep 30, 2011
I want to know how to resize a photo without loosing quality....... in the image resize box the is a check box that says maintain file size ......what does that do .
I have tried to resize using it and the file stays the same as the original.

4705.sample2.tifOur customers have given us some black and white .tif Monochrome Bitmap images at 400 ppi (see attached sample) and 600 ppi of some scanned black and white engineering drawings. Some of the small text on the drawings is not very legible because open areas are filled in with black. Some of the vertical and horizontal lines are ragged (digitized) on the edges. Is there any way that I can improve the visual quality of these Monochrome Bitmap images in Corel Draw (which I use) or Corel Paint (of which I'm not very knowledgeable, or adept)?
Im using Corel Photo-Paint X5 and was wondering how to decrease or remove pixelation from the edges of a low quality photo? Iva attached a sample below
I've been trying so hard to upload high quality photos on facebook but the compression used by facebook is just so bad that all the hours used to edit the photos is left in vain. There seem to be an action uploadable on Photoshop to keep the quaity of the photo before uploading it to facebook. Is there a similar action/present for lightroom 5 as well?
I am trying to change the background of a photo. Not just change the color but change the color AND make it keep it's original shading, etc. I have some family photos we had made recently and they used a beige color draping for the background. The ones we had made before had a black draping. I was wondering how I could go about using some sort of additive coloring to transform the varying shades of beige to the same varying shades of black.
I have already used the masking tool to separate the background from the rest of the photo.
Is there an easy way to do color tints on a photo in PhotoPAINT? And by that I don't mean just correcting the tint, I mean converting a regular photo into one that has a single color tint (e.g., yellow, red, etc.). I've tried graying it out and then adding a transparent color layer over it, but I'm not getting the result I'm looking for.
Also, while I'm at it, are there any (current) books out that cover PhotoPAINT in depth? I know that the official DRAW book has a section on it, but it's pretty basic.
The current crop of photo sharing apps like Instagram have made filter effects a popular way of adding some extra vim to your shots. What if you want to give the ‘retro’ look to photos that aren’t on your phone though?
How can we create retro looking photos in PhotoPaint?
I would like to use a photo frame from connect, and keep it in the Effects>Creative>Frame menu of frames. I have downloaded and clicked and dragged the frame to my image, but I would like to reuse this frame. Is it possible to add it to the menu? I can download it to the menu - but it is a temporary item in the list of views to the right, which can be replaced from any of the permanent members of the dropdown selection of frames on the left of the Frame menu. I would like a frame to become one of those "permanent frames."
How to alter a scanned newspaper photo to get it to look like a continuous line photo using cpp apps? is there a tried technique? i tried tracing in cdgs but it looks like the dabble app was applied in cpp i want to try and get rid of the 65 line printing ink dots. if no one has a way, i will post one if i am successful. trial and error can be fun if you have the patience and fortitude.
I am making a background image for a website in Draw. The main part is Black.
I export as a jpg and the image looks fine when I view it.
Then if I open it in photo-paint the black is not black, but rather has a grey color to it. The image is exported fine and looks great when viewing it with the normal windows photo viewer program.
Something is happening when it is opened up in photo paint I think.
i'm using my corelphoto paint x3 for a year now and it is working fyn then on one occassion i don't know but while editing an image, i suddenly discovered that my effect tools, paint tools, clone tools wont work or wont make changes on the image i'm editing... i've already checked the menus and settings but still no work..i also tried reinstalling the program but still it's all the same..

I open a GIF that has a transparent background, resize it and save it back. At no time is there any prompt re transparency but it no longer has a transparent background. Why is that? And, how do I ensure that transparency is maintained?
I recently had a computer virus. The hard drive was scrubbed, and we had to reinstall all our programs.
Now, on my CorelDraw X3 graphics suite, the photo paint program is only partially functional. The clone and paint tools do not work anymore. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, rebooted the computer, but no progress. We have Windows XP, the same as before.
I'm having trouble using the paint brushes in photo paint x6. i open a JPEG or bitmap then use a paint brush to paint on the image but there is no paint. do i have to use a mask now? I tried copying a dupe for a second layer to see if that worked but nix. i still have x4 and i do it there. but what's with x6? all the other tools work but the paint brush.
I was trying to make an animated GIF with 30 static GIF images I made with PhotoPaint X5 itself.
The crash happened every time I tried to close the program without saving the animated file – which I couldn't make due to not achieving what I intended (I'll have to learn a bit more about background and objects).
It happened on a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional system with 12 GB of DDR3 RAM.
Due to system problems, the Corel X3 package had to be reinstalled. I was not there, but noticed afterwards that everything had been set back to the original default settings in the various applications. In particular, Paint now shows everything in inches, when what I need is pixels to match things up on the company website, my primary job. So, I've been manually setting resamplings, etc., to pixels, instance by instance. I find nothing anywhere in the help system that even recognizes the term "default." How to set the defaults?
When I select an object which I want to modify (Lighten/Darken or Colour Balance) the appropriate controls appear, but invariably cover the object I want to modify.
I copied pictures from hard drive to external hard drive and did a format on that hard drive. When I try to open pics it says that JPG marker is missing and some of them can't open at all. The ones I can open, they look distorted (shredded).
I tried several repairing programs but without success. Pics are valuable to me - half of life collected. And huge number of them.
Extension of images is not changed, file size is still normal, even (on opening folder) thumbnail show image as it should be for short period of time, but when image is fully loaded, thumbnail also shows distorted image.
