Photoshop :: Editing Photo In CS3 Program Shut Down / Will Not Reopen PSD File
Jul 25, 2013
While editing a photo in CS3 the program shut down and will not reopen my psd file. The error message reads "cannot complete your request because of a program error" -- it is a very large file (I have been saving it all along) and I had just "flattened layers" and went to open up a new, blank photo file when it shut down. Is there anyway to get this file to open?
Once open Photoshop and clink on Edit, this message shows up, and if choose "Check online for solution..." no new action happen, the program shut down, restating does not work. Before there were no troubles with program.
my Photoshop elements 5.0 program is corrupted and caused my computer to shut down. now when I go to my photoshop elements program 5.0, it freezes up and does not allow me to use it. I would like to un-install this program and re-install it but want to be sure I don't lose my picture files. Will I lose my pic files if I do this?
Installed Elements 10 today. When browsing for a destination folder for very first project a "Serious Error" message box is displayed and program forced to shut down. What is this and how do I fix??
I'm looking for a photo editing software program to combine my burst photos from my GoPro Hero 2 camera into a single photo. Will Photoshop Lightroom allow me to accomplish this.
I saved a file last night and now this morning I get an error message stating: "Photoshop CS5.1 Extended: Could not complete your request because there are too many Files Open. Try closing some windows and try again.". I've rebooted the system and made sure Photoshop was the only program running and that there were no other files open prior to trying to open my file. I increased Photoshops ram usage, checked the OpenGL settings, 3D and VRAM settings, cleared my temp files and am at a loss for opening this file.
System Specs: Win 7 64 6 core I7 processor 32gb Ram 3GB VRAM 600gb free space on 7200 rpm drive
File specs: 1 3D object replicated maybe 5 times (yes, I should have rasterized them, and will do that to 4 of them if I get the file open)Maybe 8 textures..Not sure how many total layers.
Is there anyway to get Photoshop to reopen this file?
When I open Photoshop Elements 10 Editor to edit a text layer on a 511KB 412x292 psd photo the text layer is not shown. How do I open the text layer? How do I edit the text layer? How do I save the finished work product? The background layer is locked. I can't unlock it. I have tried any number of approaches none of which open the text layer for editing.
After editing a photo in an external application, only the original raw file can be seen. The edited photo is hidden, even when searched for by name.
I have been reduced to the following workaround, which has the drawback of deleting all the original raw (.cr2) edits: Edit the photo; edit in external application; save and close. Back in lightroom, delete the raw file (from lightroom only); then close lightroom, reopen it and then at last I can see my edited file. Then I have to re-import the raw file and of course the edits have disappeared. But at least the final result can be seen.
The photos are supposed to be in a stack, but there appears to be a bug in this function because you can only ever see the raw file.
I have just edited some photos for a friend who was short on time, and now she would like a list of the steps I took in editing. Is there any way of listing those steps in a text file I could send her?
I have used X5 to build a slideshow, but this is the first time I tried using video. The source are mpg's created with the Sony Motion Picture Browser (taken with a DCR SR42 Handy Cam). I added title screens between my video segments. I then used the create disc link in section 3 to create a menu (linked to the titles I added previously). I then told it to make an ISO file. It reached ~ 85% of the title conversion (24% total) and the PC shut down. Not a crash, no errors, just shut down. I turn the PC back on and it boots up like normal, No unexpected shutdown screens, no safe mode, just normal boot up. I have downloaded and installed service packs 1 & 2. I was making a 16x9 video with standard ( not Dolby) audio.
This is a wedding video for a couple I know. I was able to burn a DVD from Sony software, but it is unedited video.
Whenever i save a file, and then try to open it later on, it wont open. Nothing happens (just like I haven't clicked anything). It does this is I double click the file or I do File >Open. However if i save the file as 'Version 13' it opens fine. I decided to re-install Corel Draw (a number of times), but the problem is still there!
Since upgrading to CS6: when I re-open Illustrator CS6 files, I find that effects such as dropshadow, etc. are rasterized as images or other elements that I can't edit as "effects". I'm the single author of these files, so they're being edited on the same computer and in the same program version. Why this is happening, and how to prevent it? It's really slowing me down.
mtext notes in my drawings occasionally reformat when I reopen a file. The notes become a column of single words. I have to go to each note and stretch the box. Doesn't always happen, but when it does every mtext box becomes a column. I'm using LT 2012.
On my first two pictures I put the names of the people in the picture as keyword tag. I have tried to remove the tag from the drop down menu but this does not work. I get an error when I auto try to find tags. Do I have to delete both pictures to get this out of the file? Will this remove these names from the keyword tag drop down window?
For some reason when I place new text or line work in a file it is fine, but when I save the drawing, close it and re-open it all of the text and line work found in model space goes gray. Yet if I place new text and use the match property command on text placed previously, that is now gray, and use it on new text, the new text recieves the attributes of what the previously placed text has minus the appearance of being gray. In my drawing I am using a shape file and a data connect image through planning and analysis.
Im using Corel Photo-Paint X5 and was wondering how to decrease or remove pixelation from the edges of a low quality photo? Iva attached a sample below
Putting aside the fact that you really can't see stars at sunset, and that if Polaris ever shows up near a setting sun, it's the End Of The World -- it's equally easy to add the stars to a nighttime photo..Next. Am trying to build a collection of photo-editing tips on the Xara-Users forum -- [removed link -link broken and or requires membership to view]
Xara's a LOT easier to use than Photoshop. But it is different. I know Xara's really for vector artwork, but when you end up using it more and more for photo editing, it's useful to have a bunch of techniques in one place.
After editing in perfect photo I cannot unstack the edited photo in LR4. The thumbnail shows the number of photos in the stack, but right click/expand stack has no effect. The edited photo is not showing.
is it possible to convert a photo into a silhouette in cd. I have been playing around with a few pictures but not getting great results, although they are improving each time. What I want to do is convert a picture of my neice into a silhouette and maybe cut it in vinyl.
A vector editor/maker similar to the UI of PDN? I always liked the simplicity that PDN offers while being able to create stunning works, but I'm working on some flash movies and have been told vector images are the way to go.
I have a bunch of parts drawings created in LT 98 that I am now editing in LT 14. For the most part I haven't had issues. However, I have been having a big issue with the Text function. It doesn't matter if I am trying to enter new text (Multi or Single line), or if I try to edit the existing text. Either way, the program immediately locks up & will not snap out of it.
I have Photoshop CS3 and CS5 Extended on my computer. CS3 is the default external editing program Lightroom 5 chose to use to open files during initial setup, which causes selections such as "Open as Smart Object or Merge to Panorama" to be grayed out. How can I change the default to CS5 Extended, short of removing the CS3 version on my system?
This is the top of South Mountain. South "Mountain" is about 1,000 feet high. We like to think that we are living in the mountains so a good many hills and towns have the word mountain in their name.
When I double-click on a photo file (e.g. jpg) Elements 12 opens but the photo isn't in the Editor window. Double-clicking on the photo again opens the photo in the Editor window.
On all the other versions of Elements I have used, one double-click on a file opened Elements and the photo appeared in the Editor window. Is Elements 12 different or is there something I need to change to make this work as it always did?
I'm trying to figure out a way to reduce the size of a cylinder that is created in another program (LFM or Cyclone) and imported into Autocad. I've tried Solidedit and I can increase the cylinder diameter but I can't reduce the cylinder diameter.
All other controls work fine until i use the grey scale tool. All other options/controls become inactive including close and minimize. I have to use ctrl+alt+delete to exit.
The main reason I use grey scale is to be able to use the arbitrary rotation tool. Is there away to use arbitrary without using grey scale?
Computer hardware newbie here: I do a significant amount of photo editing work and for a very long time I've experienced Photoshop, Bridge and Photomatix crashing constantly (usually due to insufficient RAM) or just generally taking forever (Bridge took forever to load the thumbnail/preview extractions in a folder full of images, Photoshop took forever to save images and Photomatix took ages to load/merge a set of bracketed photos). Here are the typical error messages I'd get: [URL] ........
As a professional photographer, constantly running into that sort of thing is quite aggravating, so to hopefully avoid ever having to deal with that again I invested in a new custom built computer. It's Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with 32GB of RAM and a 240GB SSD; I'm using the 240GB SSD as my boot drive/OS, all of my programs are installed there, and the page file. My photos and data are stored on several HDDs. I have yet to install any of my photo editing software (Photoshop CS6 Extended, Lightroom, Photomatix etc) to the new computer yet.
My basic question is this: what is the best way to take advantage of the SSD (and the computer in general) when it comes to my photo editing software?
Specifically... 1. If I have a folder of photos I'm working on, should I move it to the SSD and then work on them from there in order to take advantage of the speed of the SSD? Would this make any difference in terms of speed if the photos are located on the SSD vs. an internal/external HDD? 2. Most of what I've read online seems to recommend two separate SSDs, one for installing/booting the apps and one for cache/scratch. Does it matter if I use my 240GB SSD for both? 3. This is a fairly new computer and the SSD is already almost half full (102GB used, 120GB free) *WITHOUT* any of my photo editing software installed yet. I'm concerned about how fast that remaining 120 GB may fill up. As it fills up will I lose the speed advantage of the SSD vs. a regular HDD? 4. Sort of similar to #3, but should I bother moving any of my other non-photo editing programs/caches off of the SSD to a HDD and would there be any major difference in the speed/lifespan of the SSD if I did so? It's mostly Firefox and Chrome and their caches that I'm concerned may be a problem if they remain on the SSD.
