I am trying to darken/sharpen a .PDF scan of an old blueprint drawing using the Curves tool, but the drawing only appears edited in the preview screen and reverts back to its original appearance once I hit OK. What do I need to do to get the changes to stay?
For whatever reason(s), after applying the 'Depth of Field' effect, the cloning tool no longer works properly. If I open another image, the tool works just fine but if I return to the image where the 'Depth of Field' was applied, the 'clone' no longer stays after the mouse button is released. That is, the effect seems to be temporarily applied under the brush and immediately disappears when the brush is moved or the mouse button is released?
I have a question about the pen tool in Photoshop, I would like to make drawings as a simple colored dividing curves I found no simple way to achieve this, first found solution is to trace with Tool pen the desired shape (open form), then using the Layout panel, apply a color on edge, the problem with this method is that if you change the shape of the trace thereafter, the initial color persists mena sdoesn't move withe resized trace and it's embarrassing. the second found solution is to use a vector layer, but the problem is that traces are always closed(means closed shaps only) and the colored outline is applied on all around the shape , it works well with the closed form but not with the simple forms.
how to draw a single line or an open colored curve with photoshop.
after using the crop tool in Photoshop CS6, the Presets and RGB channels options are greyed out on the curves adjustment layer, IF that layer's Properties are displaying at the time. I find I can get the options back if I open and close Curves Display Options.
I am running Windows 7 x64, AMD Radeon HD 5800 with latest drivers (same problem with older drivers).
I have created a custom measurement tool to measure distances (captured from sattelite imagery, and using the distance key as the guide) and it works great. However, I would like to be able to use the same tool to measure curves/radiuses. Say for instance a mountain road. I know the scale of the photo, and can measure any straight (line) angle, but can I do the same for a curve or radius using the same scale?
Having just entered the world of illustrator (cs6) I'm finding trying to get smooth curves to do what you want is a highly confusing operation.Being a fairly competant user of Photoshop the same task can be acheived relatively easily by way drawing paths with the pen tool and simply adding anchor points to drag out the desired shape. This buisness of dragging out handles in order to create curves in illustrator is crazy, I just can't seem to get the curves to behave how I want them to, I've watched probably 20 tutorials on this now and all demonstrate the same technique for creating curves, is there a more straight forward, simple way to achieve precise smooth curves similar to PS?
I have an alingment and profile, but I cannot use the layout tool to create a curve (vertical)...what I am doing wrong. I select the profile in profile view and right click to select "edit profile geometry" and get the layout tool bar but cannot select to draw a curve...
I am preparing a batch of images for test submission, for a stock photo library.Recently a person working for one of the visual effects studios in London happened to tell me that these strict agencies use some set of layers that can separate tonality and color values to check for banding, dirtiness, noise and all those technical flaws that the human eye can't notice on a monitor. He said they perhaps have an action for it so that they can review faster.
He said that it is known as 'Craze Curves' or 'Visibility Curves' technique. He further added that all the studios use it before giving the final files to clients so that there is no issue in printing afterwards. It is sort of a quality control check and has been used by digital and advertising agencies all over the world.
But now his email seems to have changed and I can't get in touch with him to know how to use the technique.
Am I the only one who has edited a stroke with the stroke width tool, then outlined the stroke only to find a countless number of points and noticeably unsmooth edges? Is there a setting or certain way to ensure that the stroke width tool won't corrupt the smoothness of my shapes? The stroke width tool is the most handy new feature I can imagine, but this problem makes it almost entirely useless, unless designing something where precision and smoothness are not important.
In Illustrator CS6 and CC, when the stroke width tool is used on a curve, the curve is actually made up of a series of straight lines instead of smooth vector curves:
whereas in CS5 it looks perfect. These images may be too small to see the details, but the difference is there. Is there a workaround for this? Or is it recognized as a bug?
its a cross country picture of some kids on bleachers and i wanted to add some affects to it. one was just to make it look lke half the picture was underwater and the view was from above.
i wanted the water level to go up to the front rows knees or chest and have reflections and ripple filters just as a normal picture with water in it would have. im not sure quite how to do this though.
I've just recently started to use the 3d function on Photoshop cs5 with text. But is there a way so the light on one layer affects other layers instead of having to redo the light for all layers?
I once created this image, I am not quite sure how i achieve the blur affect on the fonts. I rememebr when i saved it, "indexed color" poped up, I chose something from the drop-down list, and found the words changed...seems pretty nice, so I saved it. I thought i remebered every step, but now I followed the steps i remember, i just couldn't get this anymore..
Just trying to work out how to have one camera affect the view of all the 3D layers in my scene. If I have a layer selected, and adjust the camera, it only affects that layer.
i want to enable the mental ray extensions for my lights but i am currently using the design viz - mental ray UI, if i were to switch it to the max - mentalray UI, will i loose my tool paletes that i created in the previous UI? is there a way to get the mental ray extensions without switching the UI?
I am trying to use the camera to zooom into one layer. the front layer should not be affected by that - so how can I make the camera only affect ONE layer not all?
I’m using 3dMax 201 64 bit.I made kind of a robotic arm and I linked parts together. Then I changed the Pivot on each pieces of the arms.My problem is that sometimes the change I have made on with “Affect Pivot Only” doesn’t apply.I can see the gizmo of the Affect Pivot but the one that works is the original one. I don’t know why it keeps the old pivot active when I changed it. Sometimes, I click on “Affect pivot only” button and the good pivot comes back active. But doesn’t work every time.
I created a straight line using the shift, click method. Now nothing I do will affect it. When it failed to be made invisible by toggling the layer I thought I created it in I systematically went through each layer in the image, turning them visible, invisible in case I lost track of where it was created, but even though those layers became visible/invisible as they should, nothing happened to the line. I tried to create a layer above it to just cover it up, but even though the new layer was on top, the line showed through. Although this line used to be needed it is now essentially a blight on the rest of my image, which is massive. I dread the idea of having to start from scratch. I can't simply erase it because it doesn't seem to be associated with a layer. Originally, the image was created in 2.6, I think (but am not sure) that this is the version I used to make the line, but when I got a new computer I downloaded 2.8, and after this discovered the problem. Everything else works normally, is responsive, etc
I am trying to resize the artboard so it will be an exact size in pixels. However whenever I use the artboard tool, the contextual toolbar will show me the size in mm. I went to Preference > Units > General and while it appears to be set to show pixels, it doesn't seem to affect the artboard measurements.
I am, using Ai (CS6). I've produced a poster I'm fairly happy with, but black background is affecting red and green type on top of the black...
Possibly one hint towards a solution is that I have one photo with a transparency and the lettering that is on top of that transparency isn't affected by the black background.
The transparency was started by creating a cut-out of a mugshot in Ps CS6, using the magnetic tool, previously creating a transparent background layer.
Anyway, the long and the short is, if a tiff photo transparent background can keep out the black background, how can I create a transparent layer with similar properties.
It seems the Sharpen effect in Premiere Pro CC is not 32-bit, however based on this [URL] , it should not affect the colors. Can we get a confirmation that indeed applying this effect on a 4:2:2 10bit ProRes project will not crush the bit-depth of the colors?
I'm making vectors for my Spreadshirt page, and when I try to upload them SS is telling me that I must convert all the text to curves. How do I convert the text, and what do I do when there is no text in the image?
I need to create a smoke affect over a picture. It needs to be transparent. I've tried a few approaches but my brain is having fits trying to figure it out. Google has drawn blanks.
I'm making a video slideshow for my friend's wedding and I'm trying to use some overlay pics in a couple segments but want the overlay track to dissolve with the main track and can't get it to work for some reason. Specifically I'm trying to make a remote control pop into the bride's hand (I'm using "Grow Old With You" for one of the songs and thought it would be cute during the "even let you hold the remote control" part). Anyway I went through the trouble of creating the remote control object etc. but even though I can drag a transition to the object it doesn't seem to affect it any. Instead it affects the main track.
Here's what happens specifically...I have dissolve applied to both the main track picture (the bride) and the remote control (overlay track)...and the dissolves are set to trigger at the same time. The bride starts to fade but the remote control stays solidly on the screen - and then something weird happens, the object transition effect seems to overwhelm the main transition for a second and the whole screen flicks black for a second and then abruptly goes on to the next slide. If I delete the object transition effect the abrupt black screen thing doesn't happen but the remote control obviously doesn't fade either, which makes the video seem very amateurish. I checked all the edit settings for both the main and overlay tracks and nothing seems to work with this. I can't believe a glitch like this could have existed for this long without Corel fixing it...Right?
I think i may have a 'major' problem, when i do a detach skin, the skeleton is ok but the skin changes size and direction as well as place, i think it's because i resized after the first bind skin, now i'm trying to reset bindpose but doesn't seem to affect the skin, i need to fix this so bad and i feel like i'm between a rock and a hard place, is there a way out of this mesh?
Here to reproduce the bug :apply cfx to a clip. Open cfx and add any fx , for example in my test , i use blur. I then right click the blur node and choose 'create cfx'. I select the cfx and render it. exit cfx to timeline. In timeline i copy/paste or duplicate the clip. So now we have 2 identical clip. Bring the duplicate to the desktop and right click and choose flush render. Now the problem that the flush render, i expect, won't affect the master (original) file. But in fact , it will wipe out the render inside the original clip. Now open the original cfx clip and inspect that the cfx node has lost the render file. This is pretty serious problem. In complex cfx, we can accidentally delete render file and need to spend 'expensive' time to re-render.
I have an .idw of an assembly. I originally made a sub assembly invisible in the .iam and create a new base view. The invisible assembly is not there as I would expect. If I turn the visisbility back on in the .iam the part is now visible in the .idw even thogh I have cleared the "Associtave" box. No matter what I do, I can't clear the assembly out of the .idw even if I go back to the .iam and make it invisible again. This used to work in previous releases.
I have access to a Map of a town. I would like to isolate a certain area of the town and make it bigger on the same page. But not let it link together, that way I can get some demensions in, delete some lines and texts which will not effect the overall map itself. I would just solely like to manipulate the blown up portion.
