Photoshop :: Blending A Pasted Object
Mar 20, 2007
I am shooting interior photographs of houses. I use natural light and it is impossible to get the correct exposure for the interior and the windows. I take two exposures one for inside and one for windows and lights. I then try to cut the windows out of the underexposed photo and paste them into the overexposed windows. The problem I get is that I can never get a clean cut and have some jagged edges. How do I blend the edges of the windows to look natural or another way to blend the 2 images together.

I pasted a vector object into PS CS6 (13.0.1 x32) today directly from Illustrator CS6 (16.0.1 x32), and selected "Paste as Smart Object" (Windows XP Pro SP3).
I then tried to warp the pasted object using the Free Transform tool by dragging one of the corner handles with CTRL held down (Windows).
This usually warpsdistorts the object, but instead, this launched a skew operation.
If I paste as Shape Layer or as Pixels then apply Free Transform, <Ctrl + corner handle drag> performs a warpdistort operation. Also, if I rasterise the pasted AI object, and then convert to a Smart Object I can warpdistort.
Is it not possible to paste an Illustrator vector in as a Smart Object, and then warpdistort it directly using this technique?

how to go about blending a human arm into an object it's holding.
The exact object will be a fishing rod. I want to photograph a person holding the fishing rod in such a way that the end of the handle cannot be seen (hidden by anglers forearm), and then blend their arm into the rod so it looks like the person has a fishing rod where their wrist/forearm should be. Realism is very important in what I am trying to achieve.

Open up a picture
Create a Mask marquee and Cut [Ctrl X]
Undo twice [Ctrl Z twice]. You're now back where you started but with a cut object on the clipboard
Paste [Ctrl V]
Cut [Ctrl X]
Paste again [Ctrl V]
Cut again [Ctrl X]
In my case, the entire image has now been cut, not just the pasted object. The reason I do this is because I'm working with two virtually identical pictures. On one picture there has been a modification which I wish to paste onto the other. I cut and paste but need to align the pasted object with the picture. So, I paste the object and move it; then cut and then paste it to check it's in the correct position. If it's out of alignment then the image appears to move. There may be other ways to do this but I find this way easy.

Does any version of Photoshop Elements or Photoshop support a feature that would let me hide a selected region by blending in the colors and textures around that object?
Traditionally, people will copy and paste parts of a photo on either side of an object that they want to hide, but this usually results in a discrete line in the area of the object and close inspection usually shows the object was covered. I read somewhere that some version of Photoshop has a feature that would try to blend in the surroundings to remove the selected object, which results in a slightly more professional result.

When I cut out a group of people from a photo for the purpose of dropping them on top of a new background, I usually run into the same problem. Even tho' I may have set them on top of a concrete sidewalk or the likes, they still have that look of hovering or floating in mid air.

I have two similar images of a group of people. I need to cut and paste two of the heads onto to the other image because their expressions are better.
Unfortunately, I seem to have stepped forward a little when taking the photograph, so consequently the proportions are a bit out when I cut and paste.

whatever screenshots I paste into Photoshop all becomes blurry, or "low quality" if you will. I tried pasting the same image in Paint or Illustrator, they remain sharp and fine as they.
I'm running PS CS5 x64 on Win 7 x64

Any time I paste an object from AI into PS, it's getting horizontally squashed. Here's an example:
1. 12x12 pixel circle in Illustrator, aligned to pixel grid.
2. Pasted into Photoshop as a Smart Object, it's visibly distorted (12x11), but the W/H is inaccurately labeled 100%.
3. After pasted, if I select Edit > Transform > Scale, now the starting W/H are shown with the accurate distorted values.

I am makeing an image for a customer. I am looking to take some text that was made on one art board and move it to another where I am assembling the complete image. However when I drag from one art board to the other the size of the cut and pasted art changes and the look of all its effects change as well.
The two documents have the same deminsions and the same resolution and color profiles. why this might be happening? Here is an example:this is the original
this is after I drag it or I cut and past it into another documentI am using photoshop cs5 on mac os 10.6.8

When text is pasted from one CS5 document into another and is inserted into the existing text in the destination doc, is comes in as a size different from either the source or distination size. Both docs are of the same resolution. The text being transferred is acquiring new formatting somehow. These are older docs, I don’t know what I might have done with/to them previously.

II need to cut and paste an image from one photoshop doc to another. This I can do just fine, but when I do, it resizes the image I pasted and makes it smaller. Since I'm wokring with scans that need to retain their exact size, this is not good.
-Also, the piece of the doc I'm cutting from is a little bit bigger than the 8..5 x 11 letter size doc I'm pasting into.

I'm fairly new to Photoshop. I'm trying to resize a image which I've pasted into a layer, I know how to Transform and rescale the image but I'd like to enter the width of the image in Pixels somewhere.
I'm designing an advert for a billboard, I've created an A4 landscape canvas and I'd like to put 5 images at the bottom of the canvas but I'd like to set them all to the same size which fits across the whole width of the canvas.

Making early steps in Photoshop, my little sister put a lettering over a photo, worked with filters, etc, and then properly flattened image and saved it as jpg.
All looks nice but she did it on the original instead of working with a copy . As a result , the photo, which is important for the family archive, now has this lettering all over and we don't know how to clean it up.
The letters are semi transparent with no sharp edges, the photo underneath is partly visible.
I 've tried to select letters and do something with filters, but the parts of the photo visible under the letters, are with different texture and colours and and I've achieved nothing - the letters are almost impossible to select properly. Even when selected more or less properly and treated with filters/layer transparency/etc they are still clearly visible, only their colour and saturation changes...
Tried everything within my limited Photoshop skills incl, trying to find any History palette which to use to reverse all lettering done over the photo but History was not saved.
It is a digital photo,so, there is no film to scan and have a clean original...
Could someone with Photoshop skills better than mine, please, tell me how to remove this text from the photo - it is an important part of our family photo archive and I'm desperate to restore it to the original condition.
I have Photoshop 5.5

The project involves me cutting out pieces of various images, and pasting them into one main image. It was going fine for the first ten or so image pieces, but the last time I tried to do it, something very strange happened.
When I pasted the piece of an image into my main image, it came out red and transparent.why it's doing this because I didn't change anything or do anything differently. What can I do to fix this?

all transparent png files copied from Chrome and pasted into Photoshop CS6. The background is black rather than transparent. These images are one I created and exported using "save for web". It worked fine in CS5 so it must be a bug.
I constantly have to edit images taken from our website so being able to copy an image quickly with transparency intact is very important. I'm running CS6 in Windows.

I'll take a screenshot of something in my browser, and then paste the screenshot into a new PS document, and suddenly all of the colors have shifted red...a lot. Now, when I save and view the images outside of PS, the colors have returned to normal, but this makes me very nervous about designing in PS, color matching, etc.
I've played around with the Color Management settings, most recently just switching off all Color Management, but nothing seems to fix this issue. To be honest, though, I don't really know what I'm doing in there with those color settings. I thought just setting everything to US Web would fix the problem, but It hasn't changed anything.
When I first installed 8.0 on my older XP machine, I didn't have any of these problems.

I am snapping from Nikon Coolpix L1 camera into 6.2 MPixel mode. When It comes to photoshop, I can see that the normal document size is, Width : 9.387 in and Height : 7.04 in (I am giving this reference from menu Image->Image Size).
Now, I am reducing this document into a size of W=5.347" x H=4.01" size for printing. Taking four nos. of similar documents and trying to paste all four documents into a single sheet of size 12"x8". This is because that the printing cost of a 12"x8" paper will be least, and that is why I am trying to compose four 5.3"x4" photographs into a single 12"x8" paper.
But the problem is that, when I am trying to paste (using copy-paste or drag-n-drop) any of the source pictures into destination sheet, the picture in the destination sheet is expanding and filling all the space of 12"x8".
What is the problem?

Ps CS6 v13.0.1
OS X 10.6.8
Problem: Ps CS6 incorrectly renders vector objects pasted from Adobe Illustrator. CS5.1 does not exhibit the problem.
Below is screenshot of artwork in Illustrator and which is copied to clipboard, followed by screenshot of "Paste as Smart Object" in Ps CS5.1 then screenshot of same paste in CS6. "Paste as Pixels" gives identical good rendering in CS5.1 and poor rendering (gray pixels which should be pure white in this example) in CS6. This is repeatable with other artwork.
Several weeks ago there was a complaint in this forum that Photoshop CS6 poorly renders vector artwork that is pixel-aligned in Illustrator. The Adobe response was that Photoshop is correct. Strange that CS5.1 can render pasted vector artwork perfectly and only CS6 makes a mess.

I was working in Gimp last night with no problems at all. I modified an image of some fabric to create a texture then pasted that texture into another image and had happy results. I'm trying to do it again tonight with a different texture I created but when I try to paste it into the other image the pasted layer is not visible. The layer transparency is set to 100, and, of course, the 'show layer" eye is clicked.

I have stitched together a picture and cropped it to by 21"x7" so that it can be printed as three separate 7x5 photos and framed together to make a pano. Right now the "master" image is perfectly sized at 21x7. When I try to cut out the first 7x5 portion, it resizes to 5.25x3.75 when I paste into a new image. If I resize it from there it becomes distorted. I've been using the rectangle selector set to fixed size (7x5); and selecting cut from then paste into new image from the edit menu.
How can I get the pasted image to be the same size as the one that is cut?

When I use the Lasso Select tool to Cut a selected image (in this case, a person from a photo), then paste them onto another photo, the pasted image is surrounded by an outline, so that it is not "seamless." How can I paste it so that it blends with the background, and does not have this outline, or border? I tried pasting into new layer, and pasting just straight into the destination photo. The objective is: Two family group photos of the same size, nearly identical in every way - need to cut person from one photo, paste into second photo that was taken seconds later, so that ALL the family is included in the photo.

I want to create a collage. I set a feather value, make a selection out of a 2nd image and paste it into another file. Pastes in fine, but when I try and grab the corner of the pasted layer and resize it to be smaller, for some reason (I have done this approach on 20 other occasions), it doesn't resize as a rectangle as it should. It starts to resize as an octagon type shape. The following link shows an example of a freshly pasted layer that I tried to resize. There must be some setting that got changed because I have done this across four different versions of paint shop
Example below that shows the big layer getting "bent out of shape". URL....

when I select>>copy from one image and then Paste As Layer into a new image, parts of the copied selection change color. It's usually not a vast difference in color, but a definite change.
In the screen shot you'll see that I copied the "Learn More" link from the top image and pasted it as a layer into the 3 following background images. In the first two it pasted exact (a brownish color), in the 3rd it pasted as a drab green color. Why?The 3 images being pasted to are all Indexed images with the same channels and same opacity.
The next example screen shot may identify my issue...but this one REALLY Does my head in I selected the bear by color, copied, and pasted as a layer into each one of the background images shown in the first example/screen shot.Notice in the first, how the bear is pasted as the off brown color of the Learn More link. The Second is pasted as the drab green color i'm trying to fix in the first example. And the Third is pasted as the Black color I want, but its on the same image as the drab green Learn More link I can't seem to fix...

I am trying to paste an image into a comic I am making on GIMP. The image I am pasting is just a white face outlined in black. The background of the image before pasting (on the original site) is white (or maybe transparent). However, when I paste the image onto GIMP, the background changes to black, which envelops the black outline and ruins the picture. How can I paste this image so that the background remains white/transparent?

Basically I want to merge two images. Both of them are grey originally so I change them to RGB mode and change the colours separately. I then go to copy and paste one image on top of the other and it automatically changes to whatever the colour is of the destination image.
