I got one short question, which is the best Lossless photo format today ? PNG is kind of old now, so I wonder if there is any better formats with even more effective lossless compression. I am not interested in destructive formats only lossless.
View 7 RepliesI made lots of gifs a year ago, the problem is now I want to edit them, but in order to do so I will have to degrade quality futher as I will have to work directly on these gifs.
I want to prevent this from happening in the future, is there any convenient way to save frames that will compose the gif as well as the text elements in a consistent format that will ensure the quality?
I already tried to save into a PSD file, unfortunately it appaears that the frames are not included into the PSD file, they stay in the original folder.
My method is Open > Image sequence > I do what I have to do > Save as...
From what I can make of it, lossy is the option on GIF files, and therefore I am assuming that the optimisation is lossless for a JPEG at 100 percent quality and lossy when the quality is reduced?I just want to clarify that I am saving images for the web at the smallest size I can without losing too much quality.
All the images I save are 450px wide @ 75 dpi, but vary in length from 800px high to 1500px high, but have to be saved under 100kb. lossless and lossy in JPEG format in save for web?
What is the best way to achieve lossless JPEG quality in Photoshop? Is setting the quality of the file to "maximum" essentially lossless? I've been using .png files a lot more, but some of my clients still don't welcome that format.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have taken some photos of text books in a library, the photos aren't the best quality because I was in a hurry and the library rules forbid photos being taken so most of them are not straight, a bit blury or taken at the wrong angle (star wars film intro text style!!).
I needed to convert these jpegs to doc format or PDF but since the texts shown in the photos are not perfectly straight or clear how to get the texts in the photos straight and clear enough to be able to convert them correctly to .doc or pdf formats.
I have to send a company a photo in RGB format - I can convert it from JPEG to RGB, but can not get it to export out of Photoshop Elemement 11 - Also I really am not sure what RGB is, perhaps I don't need to know - I got a file onto my desktop that I believe was saved as RGB, but can not remember how I did it? Also can I share from Photoshop Elements 11 to other sites such as Istock or FB?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm taking the time to edit some of my nicer/older outdoor photos that were taken in jpeg format in Photoshop CS3 and then on to printing with an Epson 3800. I've been told that files I want to print I should make sure that I'm set to an RGB color space (1998), get icc profiles for paper, have photoshop manage colors, etc.
This is all going great! However, I've recently read online that to truly show the full potential of one's photos, those jpeg's should be converted to a TIFF file format...especially when printing (I'm now taking everything in RAW format, but I still have to take care of some of these nicer jpeg's).
Have done several prints comparing same photo in jpeg & tiff and tiff definately is higher quality. Now..my questions concern some of the settings in CS3 when I chose 'Save As' - 'Format' = tiff. Code:

When I open a single file and "Save as" JPEG-2000 with the lossless option checked, the result is truly lossless. But when I record this as an Action and then Automate/Batch this action, the output is not saved as lossless.
I'd like to trim mts video clips and save these trimmed clips in the same mts format (to avoid losses due to re-rendering in another format). It seems that there are no mts output options available (all hi-def options save the trimmed clip in mpeg format).

I want to create a collage image with numerous large photos, each in it's own layer during editing. In order to fit, all the images need to be scaled down to varying degrees, but when I'm starting out, I'm not sure what scale each image will need to be. With the default, if I shrink them too much then they get pixellated when I try to enlarge them again. Is there a way of enabling gimp to scale each image, but drop this version and reuse the original data on future scale operations (ie a "lossless" scaling operation)?
Currently I'm having to essentially create the collage twice - first time various shrink and expands til all images fit together, then start again but just rescale once to the required size.
I presume I'm correct in thinking there's no record function in GIMP yet, so I can't record my actions to GIMP then just delete redundant steps and replay...

I have powerbook and CS6 on me. I put the highest memory in Photoshop preference. We have a computer that using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and Acrobat 9 Standard. When printing a large sheet (30"x42") with images in it to a PDF the images do not appear in the newly created PDF. However, if the same file is printed to fit an 11x17 the images display correctly. Any thoughts as to why the large sheet size is not printing properly?

However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.
