Photoshop :: About Rasterizing Generic EPS Format
Apr 18, 2007
I have image sources in .EPS format, and I need convert it into hi-resolution JPEG images. When I open .EPS file in Photoshop 7, it show 'Rasterize Generic EPS Format' dialog. Its not clear how to select image resolution and dimensions correctly. The image dimensions(default?) shown in dialog, is smaller that I need. Since I want set large image dimensions, how this will affect on image quality? Does it make sence use proportional ratio? (i.e. default height is 7.66px, so I set new height 15.32px (7.66 x 2). Or this does not affect? For image resolution: in source I get .EPS images from, has specified that images resolution 300dpi. When open EPS, in 'Rasterize Generic EPS Formatn' dialog shown default 72dpi. Does it matter? Can I set any resolution (150, 300 dpi) without affecting on quality?

i'm having trouble rasterizing an .ai file. The source of this file is a pdf file that was probably not meant for print. I extracted only the fragment that's needed to describe the problem. As you can see, the transparency doesn't rasterize well (right image).I rasterized this CMYK .ai in photoshop CS5 with CMYK mode so it would preserve overprint (although RGB rasterizing renders badly too).
such files have, for what i know, always rendered correctly in the past. There are no spotcolors in the file.My problem is not getting this specific file rendered correctly (i can think of some workarrounds, like first flattening in Illustrator). My problem is finding and fixing the cause, as our scripted workflow heavily depends on this pdf to photoshop rasterizing feature. URL....

I have a very simple logo I am working on, and there are a few elements that have a fill, stroke and drop shadow applied. Every time I save the file and have to re-open it, all of the effects are rasterized, and the stroke and fill are split into a "grouped" object.

Dealing with large prints (72in x 36in @350dpi).
I've been commissioned to make a large print (12ft by 3ft) for a gallery. They want me to use a preferred printer who requires a final output resolution of 300-350dpi. My source file is an Illustrator file (CS5.1) containing MANY (100's) overlapping, transparent polygons). The printer initially told me that it was fine to supply the Illustrator file as two parts, 6ft x 3ft with everything as vectors. They just got back to me and rejected my files, now requesting full resolution TIFFs.
I have tried to flatten the transparency and output to TIFF, but either Illustrator hangs indefinitely halfway in the process or errors out, telling me that the combination of size and resolution is impossible to output. I've even tried to import to photoshop as smart object, etc. It appears that I'm running out of memory/cpu power/illustrator abilities even though I tried this on a quad cpu mac pro with 12GB of memory. At the moment, how to rasterize my vector art at anywhere near acceptable resolution. The image is very dense, and full of subtle changes in color and density due to the transparency. I need to preserve it as much as possible.

I get a 'generic pdf parser' error message when trying to open a pdf file in Photoshop 7.0.1. I am probably using a newer version of acrobat. Is there a setting in Photoshop that will allow me to open pdf files...even if newer?

I need to create some "generic" backgrounds to be used in other applications (InDesign, Illustrator) that can be specified to certain CMYK percentages.
In Photoshop, I create a file in RGB and using the default B&W, render clouds. Then I use various filters and create the backgrounds I want. I convert these backgrounds to CMYK.
What I need to do is make the (converted RGB) "black" backgrounds to be specific CMYK percentages. I have tried to create an adjustment layer and then using selective color, but it's not accurate at all.

I have like nearly a hundred generic buttons I need to make. The size of the button is the same only the centered text needs to be changed for each. It seems silly to have to copy/paste/output them from my text file one by one. I did some Google hunting but don't think im using the right keywords to find what im looking for. Anyone have any advice or links to learning about automating this process in PS CS2?

I have Photoshop CS5.5 with Suitcase Fusion 15.0.5. When I use any kind of typeface in a Photoshop file it appears jagged. When I rasterized the type, the edges are still jagged. It does display the correct font and not defaulting to a generic one. It is just that the curved edges are bad.
I am to figure out if this is a Photoshop or Suitcase issue. I have reinstalled the suitcase plugin, no change. Reset Photoshop to it's defaults. My other apps (e.g. Adobe, Apple and Microsoft), the fonts look great.

I put the highest memory in Photoshop preference. So I am bearing to work with it for hours for one small assignment, but why does it takes so long? is there a better way to do to save time and speed to make the poster banner to look greater than life? even in 200 dpi?

I changed jobs about three weeks ago, and went from AutoCAD 2012, to Mechanical 2009. The transition has been seamless, except for one thing: text. The templates here are set up with generic notes etc, using single line text. I can't stand it.I tried the txt2mtxt trick, but it didn't work. Anytime I convert existing text to mtext, or try to create new, mtext, the editor window will come up, but not allow me to type anything.

I would like to embed a tag as generic annotation within a family so that I can control the visibility of the tag based upon a type shared parameter within the family. However, when I rotate or mirror the family the text and labels within the tag change positions, go backwards, flip upside down, no matter what combiniation of "Keep readable" and Rotate with "Rotate with component" I try.I would like to have the tag look, regardless of which direction the family is facing. How to either:
1. Make the embedded generic annotation maintain the correct orientation
2. Control a tags visibility based upon a shared parameter within the associated family?

Sketch of a shackle (preferably Crosby) that I could use? The company I work for does a lot of certifications and deals heavily with Lifting devices. We tend to use Crosby Bolt Type Anchor Shackles (see image) in our designs and the sizes tend to change frequently. I figured if there was a template made, it would be easy to go from a 2ton shackle to say a 55 ton shackle by changing the parameters (rather than re-drawing). We have done a few in ACAD, but I would like to start from scratch in Inventor (IV 2012) in order to gain full control over the design, parameters, etc.

I haven't had to use a generic link slope in a while, but I'm baffled as to why this isn't working for me. Below is my assembly which looks looks fine, but the corridor is doing the opposite of what it should be doing.
And here is what the corridor is doing.
My grass strip link is going in the opposite direction and it's much longer than 7 feet. Am I missing something or is this another bug?

1. I have updated my Mac Pro to Mavericks; and
2. I have downloaded and applied the patch that was released.
I can open, edit, and export my files just like pre-Mavericks; however, when I go to import them into Premiere via Import, I get an import error:
"The importer encountered a generic error."
Oddly, when I look at the exported files in Finder (which, by the way, do not throw an error during the export process -- I have clean logs), I don't have a preview thumbnail like I did before. Now, it's a placeholder Quicktime logo. Hitting space bar to preview them only offers the information window, which show "Zero KB" as the file size... but in Finder, it clearly shows the correct file size.
Opening the files in Quicktime gives me a "converting" message before opening (these are .MOV files that shouldn't need converting at all), and exporting them from QT won't allow for an Alpha channel, ruining the transparency of the lower third.

I have attached a screen shot. I created this base plate as A572-50 steel and it is displayed as galvanized. The only thing on this assembly that is from the content center are the bolted connections and a few pieces of A53 pipe that is not shown in the image. All of the other parts and sub- assembly's and their parts are created with their appropriate grade of steel and also displayed as Galvanized. When they are place into the same assembly their materials and display are exactly like they are on the part level itself.
When I place the base plate from my project the initial preview of the the part shows it to be as it is in the part itself, A572-50 and galvanized. The problem comes when you actually drop it in the assembly. The material of the part is reverted to the Steel, Galvanized and is displayed as Generic. This causes a problem in my BOM and then some.

Creating a particular object for use in a revit project. I have attached a group of images.
In short, it is an arched wall that is made up of a series of masonary objects (6types), each with the same dimensions, the only difference being they have different openings. The objects just need to be represented as a solid masonary for now. The individual objects need to be shuffled around the arch to test different configurations.
Would the best approach be to develop the objects as generic model families?

I have an MEP dwg with 3d geometry that I would like to take a lineweighted section through.
I successfully made the section by importing the cad file into a generic mass, but I cant seem to get the lineweights to show up.
I've tried setting overrides and object styles for generic models, but it doesnt register the cut line, only the projection line style.
I also tried importing as an IFC, which also converts the file to generic models, but no dice.

I am using Revit 2013 and I am wondering if there is any easy way of getting my generic model schedules to get the length of the object without having to manually type it in?!
I have attached 2 images to explain what I am talking about. I have created my own countertops and decided for scheduling purposes it would work best to have them as generic models. As you can see from the "Counter Top Properties" image that it has the length of my countertop in the program, but as the "Counter top Schedule" Images shows I can not choose "Length" as an available field. I had to create a parameter for the length ("Length of Unit"), which is just a dimension parameter, and I have to type in manually what the length is. Is there a way to get my schedule to get that length dimension automatically without having to manually type it in!?
