I'm building a simple subassembly from generic links and some of the links are blue and some magenta - Is there any significance to this colouring?

I haven't had to use a generic link slope in a while, but I'm baffled as to why this isn't working for me. Below is my assembly which looks looks fine, but the corridor is doing the opposite of what it should be doing.
And here is what the corridor is doing.
My grass strip link is going in the opposite direction and it's much longer than 7 feet. Am I missing something or is this another bug?

I am updating a map and besides manually creating my own block for the "arrow" of the leader. Is there more then one generic leader style I am unaware of to make life easier?

When i am creating a assembly, the sub assembly parameters for the generic pavement structure is not showing (such as the lane width or crossfall) Other sub-assemlies show these parameters. Is this a bug or is there a way i can turn this on.
I can change the parameters on the properties.
I'm developing a custom SA in C#. At some point, I need to get a shape area and a link length from other SA (created with subassembly composer). This SAC subassembly is created before my custom SA in the assembly.
In the DrawImplement function the corrsidorState list of links and shapes is empty...
why am i not allowed to have multiple direct links for a node (junction/outfall)? i have a situation where i want to add the flows to two junctions, one for each side of the property, then add the two junctions to an outfall (overall site). i do not want to model the pipes, just want to add hydro graphs.
my each junction has two direct links coming from two other upstream junctions, and then this junction flows out by a direct link to the overall site outfall (the set of junctions from the other site does the same). i cannot run the model because of the error:

When I first got into using SSA, I looked on-line through some AU handouts and blogs etc. I learned to model on-grade inlets using direct bypass links. I would create one that linked upstream and downstream inlets. It appears that hydrodynamic routing is the preferred option for modeling pipe networks with storage nodes, and the direct links don't work due to error 134. It would seem that the logical fix for this is to model all gutter bypass as user defined open channel and create a channel section that matches the road and gutter section. Is that correct? Also, how does the software view a direct link versus open channel?

View 5 Replies View RelatedTesting in C3D2012, using tutorial drawing "Sections-Grade-Label", selecting 2 sections depicting the existing ground and datum. Note that the datum in the drawing stops correctly where it intersects the ground:
However, when I gather the start/end points for the section links I get points that fall outside the limits of the datum section:
The second item appears to be the daylight point, but the first item is at the edge of the section view with an elevation that makes no sense. At the other side, item 17 is the daylight point and items 18-21 do not appear to be related to anything else in the sectionview, other than #21 which is again at the edge of the sectionview. What could these extra points/links be for? Intersetingly, the same section in C3D2014 returns 1 less point and all points through item 17 are identical, but those following all differ.

How do I remove excel data links from my Reference Manager (see attached image). What I have been doing is AutoCad erasing the graphics from my drawing but the link still remains in the xref manager window.
I'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.
Just curious as to whether people use much colour in their production drawings, particularly for hatches...?
Working for Local Government, we tend to utilise colour hatches to show all kinds of information.
Generally, we have found that colour hatches are a good way to clearly show different areas and materials such as pavements, paths, landscape areas etc. Hatches can then be used to quickly ascertain areas for estimation and our construction team like them too as the plans tend to be easier to read.
The usual arguments about reproduction of plans and slowing down of computers doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Most photocopiers are in colour now anyway and we just make sure that even in black & white the plans are readable.
The way that Civil 3D deals with hatching doesn't seem to slow things down for us either.

My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

The templates here are set up with generic notes etc, using single line text. I can't stand it.I tried the txt2mtxt trick, but it didn't work. Anytime I convert existing text to mtext, or try to create new, mtext, the editor window will come up, but not allow me to type anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSketch of a shackle (preferably Crosby) that I could use? The company I work for does a lot of certifications and deals heavily with Lifting devices. We tend to use Crosby Bolt Type Anchor Shackles (see image) in our designs and the sizes tend to change frequently. I figured if there was a template made, it would be easy to go from a 2ton shackle to say a 55 ton shackle by changing the parameters (rather than re-drawing). We have done a few in ACAD, but I would like to start from scratch in Inventor (IV 2012) in order to gain full control over the design, parameters, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have attached a screen shot. I created this base plate as A572-50 steel and it is displayed as galvanized. The only thing on this assembly that is from the content center are the bolted connections and a few pieces of A53 pipe that is not shown in the image. All of the other parts and sub- assembly's and their parts are created with their appropriate grade of steel and also displayed as Galvanized. When they are place into the same assembly their materials and display are exactly like they are on the part level itself.
When I place the base plate from my project the initial preview of the the part shows it to be as it is in the part itself, A572-50 and galvanized. The problem comes when you actually drop it in the assembly. The material of the part is reverted to the Steel, Galvanized and is displayed as Generic. This causes a problem in my BOM and then some.
I have an MEP dwg with 3d geometry that I would like to take a lineweighted section through.
I successfully made the section by importing the cad file into a generic mass, but I cant seem to get the lineweights to show up.
I've tried setting overrides and object styles for generic models, but it doesnt register the cut line, only the projection line style.
I also tried importing as an IFC, which also converts the file to generic models, but no dice.
I'm just started using inventor 2013 (from 2010) & the way colours/materials are applied has completely changed so I'm learning again from scratch.
Here's my issue: A customer has sent a casting to me in Parasolid format. When I open it, all the unmachined surface are blue & look a bit garish. However, the colours of the machined faces are ok & I wish to keep them.
So, I want to chage all the surfaces that are blue - I can use the picker & select all the blue faces seperately (by holding CTRL down & select each face one be one) but this is a pain & takes ages (there are over 200 faces)
I can see & edit the blue color in the manager but how do I tell Inventor to replace all - can it be done?

Take a look at this DWG. Elements in The Alignment Style are colour: ACI 1 (red).
The CTB plot style (in the attached zip) returns ACI 1 as black (layout page-setup: display using plot style)
BUT ... The Alignment elements are grey in the paper space viewport !!!
I have recently upgraded to Autocad Mechanical 2009 and have created a range of "Generic" type arrangements and saved them as DWG files.
I then insert the "Generic" arrangements by using the "Insert block" feature and selecting the saved DWG file.
When I try using the explode feature, it disappears all together. I try zooming extends and nothing is there!
I have an AutoCAD dwg file that I would like to import into a Revit generic annotation .rfa file. It's a logo file that we're trying to use for a titleblock. It was originally made into a dwg from an EPS file. I would redraw in Revit but when I try it I get the 'line is too short' error. So it goes.
My problem is this- when I set a RGB value in the AutoCAD file, then import it into Revit with the option to preserve colors, it doesn't show the same color I assigned. I know there are some issues with converting ACAD colors to Revit colors.
Are there any generic flanged ball valves in the content center? I I see the globe and gate valves, but no ball valves.

I’m wondering if there is a lisp file that can read the boundary of the study area and the hatches and stick there areas in a table as shown in the attached screenshot
The areas of the roads are derived by subtraction the total area of hatches from the area of the study area.

This is very frequent sort of work and takes a lot of time to be constructed. I’m already using fields to perform this kind of work.

I get a 'generic pdf parser' error message when trying to open a pdf file in Photoshop 7.0.1. I am probably using a newer version of acrobat. Is there a setting in Photoshop that will allow me to open pdf files...even if newer?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have image sources in .EPS format, and I need convert it into hi-resolution JPEG images. When I open .EPS file in Photoshop 7, it show 'Rasterize Generic EPS Format' dialog. Its not clear how to select image resolution and dimensions correctly. The image dimensions(default?) shown in dialog, is smaller that I need. Since I want set large image dimensions, how this will affect on image quality? Does it make sence use proportional ratio? (i.e. default height is 7.66px, so I set new height 15.32px (7.66 x 2). Or this does not affect? For image resolution: in source I get .EPS images from, has specified that images resolution 300dpi. When open EPS, in 'Rasterize Generic EPS Formatn' dialog shown default 72dpi. Does it matter? Can I set any resolution (150, 300 dpi) without affecting on quality?
