View 1 RepliesI would like to know if it is possible to display the pipe inlet/outlet elevation in my structure label. It seems like it is not possible. It is possible to use the inlet/outlet elevation of the pipe in my pipe label however I would like to display it in my structure.
View 2 Replies View Related I do not have two outlet from 4 different intakes. The four intake are modeled as on-grading intake and do have both a bypass link and pipe line attached. Attached is the model that I have been working with. The intake causing the problems are:

I have an SSA model that has multiple on-grade inlets along a city street. Each on-grade inlet has a roadway/gutter bypass link defined (the link is defined as 'direct' in the conveyance link properties) and where applicable an upstream roadway link. Therefore most inlets have a direct link coming in and a direct link leaving to represent the gutter bypass flows. The model will successfully run under kinematic wave routing method. When changed to hydrodynamic, I get Error 134 stating:
ERROR 134 : Node CB-13 has more than one DIRECT outlet link or DESIGN pump.
I know that it is fairly self explanatory error except the error does not appear for every inlet that I have defined direct links for. Some inlets that have one incoming direct link and one outgoing direct link are not listed in the error listing, while some do. In review of the model, I do not appear to have multiple direct outlet links (I also don't recall drawing more than one per structure in my model). Based on my review of SSA documents, it seemed like modeling bypass flows using direct links as opposed to open channel flow was the most common practice. That said, if I change the outgoing direct link to open channel, that inlet is removed from the error list.

After testing a simple culvert and pipe, it appears that inlet control is not checked for pipes. Does this mean that I have to model all storm sewers in a network as culverts just to check inlet control?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working on drainage for a median storm sewer, culverts and ditching for a large freeway expansion project. I have median storm sewers running down my entire roadway (about 5kms). I have manually inputed the upstream and downstream elevations of the pipes in SSA, but when these pipes are connected to an inlet or junction, I only have the option of selecting one invert elevation for each structure (I am actually using a lot of catchbasin manholes in this project, which I am unsure of SSA's ability to model). I have multiple drops of varying elevation differences throughout the project, with some of these inlets/junction requiring drop structures due to the large difference in elevation change. How do I properly model this in SSA?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAny hydraflow calculates depth of flow and spread at sump inlets? Does it assume that the entire flow is coming from one direction (similar to an on-grade inlet)? Or does it make an assumption about how much flow is coming into both ends of the inlet?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe SSA literature states to use an On Sag inlet to model an inlet used in the middle of a parking lot.
This is more commonly known as an "Area Inlet" application, and is also used in areas such as airport runways, greenbelts and golf courses.
To develop the correct operating head relationship over the grate, we need to be able to enter a stage-storage curve starting from the grate elevation. This will develop the "cone" shape storage needed to develop the correct head elevation over the grate.
It appears looking at the On Sag options there is only the Ponded Area parameter available; the same parameter found in a Junction. This calculates the head elevation as a function of the ponded volume and a constant area.
I want to confirm that the On Sag inlet application used as an Area inlet, is using all four sides, full perimeter = 2(L+W), of the inlet for the weir flow calculations before orifice flow controls, not just 3 sides as a grate on a curb.

We recently began experimenting with SSA and are trying to verify the inlet calculations that were done in excel to make sure we understand the software before putting it into everyday use. We've created a custom parabolic street section and applied it to the bypass links, and as far as that aspect goes, we understand it and it's all working great.
How to model inlets directly across from each other in a street section. The issues arise when the top width (of Inlet 1, in the attached graphic, for example) exceeds the half section width and flows over the crown into the opposite side of the street (to Inlet 2, in attached graphic).
We have tried weirs and flow diversions to no avail. Attached is an example of what I'm trying to explain. Inlets 1 and 2 are opposite from each other, and both connect into a MH labeled SD-J 29+33.00. Link-05 connects to the next downstream MH, and there are 2 links that follow the gutter lines to the North used as bypass links from Inlets 1 & 2.

I have ran an analysis and SSA gave me Error 607 on the report. It says "Inlet A9 gutter capture curve is not a valid curve."
A couple things I did different from the video lectures...
I selected user define for the Tc to figure out Q. i computed those manually.
For the Inlets I have selected Maximum Capture Cutoff.
There are some inlets in this model I created that do not capture 100% of the flow so i created conveyance links to account for the bypass flow. Not sure why is not recognizing the Curve?
I'm developing a custom SA in C#. At some point, I need to get a shape area and a link length from other SA (created with subassembly composer). This SAC subassembly is created before my custom SA in the assembly.
In the DrawImplement function the corrsidorState list of links and shapes is empty...
I'm building a simple subassembly from generic links and some of the links are blue and some magenta - Is there any significance to this colouring?

why am i not allowed to have multiple direct links for a node (junction/outfall)? i have a situation where i want to add the flows to two junctions, one for each side of the property, then add the two junctions to an outfall (overall site). i do not want to model the pipes, just want to add hydro graphs.
my each junction has two direct links coming from two other upstream junctions, and then this junction flows out by a direct link to the overall site outfall (the set of junctions from the other site does the same). i cannot run the model because of the error:
ERROR 134 : Node TOTAL-EAST has more than one DIRECT outlet link or DESIGN pump.
ERROR 134 : Node TOTAL-WEST has more than one DIRECT outlet link or DESIGN pump.
I created a simple sub-assembly for a windfarm project but when I bring it into civils none of the links or points show up!
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow are people modeling curb inlet bypass flow? When I first got into using SSA, I looked on-line through some AU handouts and blogs etc. I learned to model on-grade inlets using direct bypass links. I would create one that linked upstream and downstream inlets. It appears that hydrodynamic routing is the preferred option for modeling pipe networks with storage nodes, and the direct links don't work due to error 134. It would seem that the logical fix for this is to model all gutter bypass as user defined open channel and create a channel section that matches the road and gutter section. Is that correct? Also, how does the software view a direct link versus open channel?

View 5 Replies View RelatedTesting in C3D2012, using tutorial drawing "Sections-Grade-Label", selecting 2 sections depicting the existing ground and datum. Note that the datum in the drawing stops correctly where it intersects the ground:
However, when I gather the start/end points for the section links I get points that fall outside the limits of the datum section:
The second item appears to be the daylight point, but the first item is at the edge of the section view with an elevation that makes no sense. At the other side, item 17 is the daylight point and items 18-21 do not appear to be related to anything else in the sectionview, other than #21 which is again at the edge of the sectionview. What could these extra points/links be for? Intersetingly, the same section in C3D2014 returns 1 less point and all points through item 17 are identical, but those following all differ.

How do I remove excel data links from my Reference Manager (see attached image). What I have been doing is AutoCad erasing the graphics from my drawing but the link still remains in the xref manager window.
I'm reconstructing an old document originally developed with PageMaker. I've recreated a half dozen pages hopefully with more uniform techniques. The original line art for the pages was created in AutoCad and some were scans. To bring them into InDesign some of the art is now in psd format and some of the newer art is in Illustrator AI format.
I've noticed that the pages with photoshop art print pretty quickly (about 30 seconds). The ones with Illustrator art take much longer (about 1:30 seconds). They go through a flattening process.
I print these 50 page books on demand and that additional time would add about an hour.
I guess the question is whether this is normal and to be expected or not. If it is I'll likely turn everything into raster before going into InDesign. That, however, seems like quite a bit of extra work. Going from AutoCad to Illustrator (to add stroke) then to PhotoShop to change to raster and then into InDesign seems like a pretty convoluted work flow.
My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy drawings contain active linework, civil 3D data (contours, etc.), and references. When a plot is executed without the publisher - everything appears normal. Specifically, all contours appear on plots and PDFs.
However, when plotting using the AutoCAD publisher (to batch many plots together, 70 or so plan sheets in 4 drawings) some Civil 3D data does not appear. Most contours are shown - however contours from a specific surface (existing ground surface) do not appear.
The publisher result is the same whether using a PDF driver or physical plot driver - these contours do not appear.
The style used to display the existing contours is used on other surfaces within the plot set - and oddly these contours appear on the publisher plot. However, no contours from this specific existing ground surface will display using the PUBLISHER.
Are there alternative ways to batch plot a set of drawings that I can explore without further cost?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project in vault (v2011), with surfaces, etc. data referenced into a sheet (neglect workflow for the moment) that displays correctly, print preview's correctly, but when plotted does not show the surface contours of any surface. Additionally, some contour labels and spot labels display CORRECTLY while some spot labels are ??? and some contour labels are not visible.
By the way, the surfaces are in different source files.
Everytime I go to 'save as' the dialogue box does not show. All that it will do is ask me what file format I want and to type in the path (see pictures).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is in reference to the DGNPURGE command for Civil 3D 2014 that can be installed from this hotfix:[URL]
I have already installed Service pack 1 for Civil 3D 2014.
I installed this hotfix on 16 computers in my office. So far the command runs successfully on only 4 computers.
Everyone in my company uses Windows 7 64-bit on computers that are identical. Once the hotfix is installed it doesn't work for everyone. It will run, but it returns this error:
"Unable to erase stroke (AcDbZombieObject): eNotAllowedForThisProxy"
That error is displayed thousands of times, I assume once for each unreferenced stroke. The at the end it says this:
"Purged 0 unreferenced complex linetype records (of 0). Purged 0 unreferenced strokes (of 19970)."
For only a few people, when they run DGNPURGE on the same exact drawing and it purges the unreferenced strokes just fine. It then says:
"Purged 0 unreferenced complex linetype records (of 0) Purged 19969 unreferenced strokes (of 19970)"
Each installation of Civil 3D was performed in exactly the same way from a deployment by one of our IT staff members. In addition, we already tried uninstalling Civil 3D and reinstalling it on one of the computers and it still doesn't work.
At the suggestion of Autodesk support I tried starting one of the computers in diagnostic mode and that didn't work either.I made sure to use the files in the px64 folder. In addition, I did try the files in the px86 folder just to see if they would work and they do not. Also, I have installed the Civil 3D 2012 hotfix for everyone and it works fine for everyone including those who the C3D 2014 hotfix doesn't work.
When I print to a DWF file using the "Publish to DWF" pc3 file, my xrefs and aerial image do not show up.
I can print to any other printer or to a PDF file and everything works fine.
I tried a different drawing with xrefs and aerial image and it worked fine also.
