We have a Civil 3D surface using contours which are coloured according to the elevation. But when we do a surface legend, and use contours, it just numbers the contours instead of using the colours. Ever created a surface table with the colours of each contour elevation?
View 1 RepliesI use EdHarvey's colour tint tool and it changes colour of the whole image, I'm looking for something similar but it only changes selected colour, so that the image is left with mutiple colour scheme rather than just one, any addon that can do this?

From this example, you can see the figure on the right is in a brownish colour scheme, what tool can I use in order to make it's colour scheme blue like the figure on the left?

I am working in Civil 3d 2012. Right now, we have about 5-6 different people using this software in the office. Each person has their own likes/dislikes for layer colors (also for their display color). BUT we all want to plot with the same lineweights.Â
What happens is the surveyor creates the drawing and existing layers (with a template). The engineer then uses the same drawing to design and create contours. The drafter then uses the same drawing to clean things up for final printing. So we have roughly 3 people using the same drawing. But the surveyor uses a black display and anything that is blue doesn't show up well, so they have it on one the lightest lineweights. I (the drafter) use a gray display have have no problem with blue so it's one of my darker lineweights.
What I'm hoping to do is create some kind of a scheme that would allow the user to simply change the color scheme (on screen) to match their likings. Similar to the User Interface. For instance in User 1 scheme, Color 8 = Blue. Then we can have multiple plot tables that would correspond to the colors.Â

I have modelled my surface and have added 'elevations' to my model. When I attempt to add the legend all I get is the top headers; it is not populating the data rows.
I am working with Autocad Civil 3D 2011. Before upgrading we were using LDD 2007. How to create a symbols legend in C3D. It was easy in LDD but how to create one in C3D.

I posted this in Autocad General but was wondering if I can do something using C3D tables or labels...
Currently we have about 30 sheets where we xref the same construction note and legend.  The client is asking us to remove notes that don't apply to each sheet. For example, sheet 1 will not need note 2, 6, 10, 11. Sheet 2 will not need 3, 5, 10, and 11, etc.
Same goes for the legend-  they don't want to see something if it does not apply to the sheet.
Other than bringing in those notes and legend into each sheet and modifying it, I can't think of another way to do this. Previously, if I needed to change the wording of note 4, I change it once and I'm done. If I need to change anything now, I will need to open up 20 sheets.
Also, they want to remove the note completely, and not just cover up the note with "Not used this sheet."
I have been searching around all morning for a way to create a symbol legend in C3D 2012. Is there a way to create a legend of point sysmbols being used with in a dwg? I could do this manually but that could take a while if I have lots of sysmbols. Â

The volumes and areas don't seem to add up, take Cut 2 as an example only if the area of the previous (cut 1) was added could this be possible. There is lots of speculation in our office like does the fill work in reverse?
I want to color cut/fill using red/greens schemes.
I want to use "interval with datum" method, and 2' intervals.
That gives like 20 rows for cut and fill, and so c3d applies one red to 5 rows, then next red to another 5, and so on.
I could pick colors by hand, but that dumb dialog is so slow, and its not easy to visually pick a nice gradation.
Is there no way to say "step from this color to that"?
Even when I do get all set up, I am finding performance of displaying the 2d solids takes forever.
I obviously have a large surface, but that is why we pay for good software right?
I am on c3d 2012 on a fast 64 bit win 7 machine. [URL]
I ma trying to print surface legend table to scale. I changed settings in model space, but I am not able to set it up to scale in layout (paper space).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on creating a surface style, legend and surface settings to create Slope Analysis Maps. These maps show a surface with different colors of hatches in triangles of the surface that are within the specified ranges. I have 3 ranges, 0-10%, 10-20% and 20-100%. I have been able to do everything but include the percentage of the area of the range over the total area of the surface. I thought maybe an expression, but doesn't look like you can have expressions for table styles. Attached is a pdf that shows my legend and a surface with the style.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen generating a line of contour labels with Contour-Multiple, most of the labels are orientated properly but some of them on the line are rotated 180 degrees. Why aren't they ALL orientated in the same direction?
Also, sometimes, all of them will be orientated in the wrong direction such that they are, essentially, upside down. Is this a bug or is there a setting to adjust?
I have recreated two surfaces for my design, existing and proposed. I had used polylines for contours for in each surface. I tried labeling the contours but it will not let me select the contour itself.Â
I then tried to make the contours to 3d polylines and again added them to the surface and rebuilt. I still am not allowed to label the contour since it doesn't let me select the polyline. I am able to select the surface however.Â
When I create a grid from our OSIP DEM files the contours come in as a block. I usually do 1' and 5' contours. I would like to break these so that when I select a 1' contour it will show up individually with elevation data still attached. If you select one now, it selects the entire grid. If you explode it, you lose the grid file. Is there a way to do this or will a just have to label the contours so I know where I am at?

Issue You were unable to create contour labels. When you tried to create a single contour label, you could not select any of the contour lines of a surface. When you tried to create multiple contour labels, the contour label line disappeared after you selected the second point.
I have a client that just started using C3D 2010. Â When I sent him a topographic survey with contour lines (I am also using C3D 2010) he called me and asked if there was a way to select an individual contour line and have it display the elevation in the 'properties' dialog box. Â I have not been able to find an answer for him.

I have a drawing set to UTM83 Zone 14 Meters and my drawing units is set to meters also. I created my surface from my point cloud. When i do the contour extract feature (surface object extract), the contours elevation is in the wrong datum or elevation? The surface contour is 620 but the same extracted contour says 188.97? Curious why this happens. It seems to me that it is back calculate elevation or datum to a different coodinate system.

All that is inserted are tic marks at the designated interval.

However, the level data is in mm so levels are showing as 98450 instead of 98.45. The level ranges from 98450 to 166260.
When I create a surface and set the style to show contours, it only displays contour lines below 100,000. Is this a limit in Civil 3D or am I missing some setting somewhere? I'm using the UKIE template btw.Â
I’m having some issues with my CAD. Every now and then, my contour lines disappear and I can’t get them to reappear. My surface border and triangles will appear but not the contours. Sometimes if I change surface styles they will appear but other times they are gone forever.
