After Effects :: Importer Encountered A Generic Error
Oct 24, 2013
1. I have updated my Mac Pro to Mavericks; and
2. I have downloaded and applied the patch that was released.
Â
I can open, edit, and export my files just like pre-Mavericks; however, when I go to import them into Premiere via Import, I get an import error:
Â
"The importer encountered a generic error."
Â
Oddly, when I look at the exported files in Finder (which, by the way, do not throw an error during the export process -- I have clean logs), I don't have a preview thumbnail like I did before. Now, it's a placeholder Quicktime logo. Hitting space bar to preview them only offers the information window, which show "Zero KB" as the file size... but in Finder, it clearly shows the correct file size.
Â
Opening the files in Quicktime gives me a "converting" message before opening (these are .MOV files that shouldn't need converting at all), and exporting them from QT won't allow for an Alpha channel, ruining the transparency of the lower third.
importing FCP XML, I get the error "The importer reported a generic error", Why? How do I import correctly? I did file> import, but got the error I noted.
when I was trying to save an image as a PNG, I pressed save then clicked OK on the small PNG Options / Interlace box and then the program completely crashed, encountered an error and needed to close. I tested saving things as PNG and it happened over and over again. It's only happening with PNG, not with any other formats. Can anybody please help? PNG is a format that I need to use and it is becoming very frustrating! I don't know if this help but the Error signature says:AppName: photoshop.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 ModName: png.8biModVer: 10.0.0.0 Offset: 00001f44
I bought the VideoStudio x5 yesterday. When i try to open the program, a message appears:
The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis
This morning when I started Revit 2013 and tried to open a file that I was working on last night, I got this error: "encountered an improper argument." The file will not open. Â I tried to open a different file, and I get another error saying "An unrecoverable error has occured. The program will now be terminated.... " Revit will close. Â I cannot open any files, or get Revit to run. Is my installation corrupt? Do I need to re-install or is it possible to try a repair?
I receive this error when testing eTransmit for Revit 2013. "etransmit encountered an error while trying to contact the server". Oddly, it is only a problem with on host, and not the other.
I get an "Online Services encountered an error" message when I try to upload a video to Facebook or YouTube. I use Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on a Windows 8 machine
LR locked up and I had to force close. Now everytime I try to open I get and error message 'LR encountered-an error when reading from it's preview cache and needs to quit'
I get a 'generic pdf parser' error message when trying to open a pdf file in Photoshop 7.0.1. I am probably using a newer version of acrobat. Is there a setting in Photoshop that will allow me to open pdf files...even if newer?
I bought Photoshop CS2 some time ago. I got a new mac (OS X 10.8.2) and when I'm trying to install it I introduce the cd, accept and after it copies the files, appears "The installation failed" The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I'm having a hard time creating MP4 HD files. It's always gone well, but recently it seems that I get to around 99% rendering, and then it crashes. I get the message "The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning"
I'm running an older dual core intel T2080 CPU with Vista, nothing fancy. It seems to happen with videos that are around an hour and a half. If I keep my videos to around an hour it will complete the rendering process. I am able to see the final 8GB file that was created, but it won't play as the rendering wasn't 100% finished with the longer video. This whole thing happens on different PC's so it's not my program installation.
While trying to do a full backup to an external hard drive, I am getting a message "error encountered while writing file" after about 75% of the 14,000 photos. I believe I have traced the problem to a missing slide show presentation program that was on an external hard drive (F) I no longer have. The program still works (from the C drive), however if I click on the program thumbnail in the Organize screen (which points to the F drive), and try to delete it, I get a message "An error occurred while reading files or writing files to disc. The disc may be full or there may be a problem with the source media." I believe that is because it is looking for the program on the non-existent F drive. What can I do to enable a backup?
Working in LR 3.6, Mac OS10.6.8, 8GB RAM, accessing from an external USB 2TB harddrive, and when opening an image I get the error: Â "Lightroom encountered an error when reading a catalogue file and needs to quit. Â "Lightroom will attempt to diagnose the problem the next time it launches." Â I've run "Optimize Catalogue" and that didn't relieve the problem. Also have deleted preference files and still no joy. I also have upgrade to LR4 in hopes that it will fix the problem and it didn't. So I've removed LR4 for the time being until I can figure this out in LR3. Â Here is a screen shot:
I keep getting this error message in LR 4: "encountered an error when reading its previous cache and needs to quit". I've restarted my computer a few times, but it keeps coming up. I got online and found some posts that say "go in Library and " or other posts. The problem is my LR screen is grayed out and I can't go into it at all.
I have the 30 day trial version of Lightroom. I was able to use it for one week, but the past 1.5-2 weeks, it has been locked up and giving this error message. How do I resolve the problem? And how do I reset the 30 day free trial? I would like to have time using the product, before deciding on the annual contract.  "LR encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches."
I have PS CS3 on a older laptop. I have been trying to download the disk on a newer laptop. I keep getting Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Internal error 2739. how to get the program downloaded?
I am trying to move my catalog from a Windows xp computer to a new Windows 7 computer. In attempting to do so I an trying to make a backup of my catalog. When I attempt to make a full catalog backup I get an error message at the end of the writing of the backup file. The message is: "Error encountered while writing file." Â The images are written to the backup file (> 20,000 images) and the Catalog.buc is written as well, but the Backup.tly is missing in the backup folder.I have gone thru my catalog and have found no unconnected files and no file that are in need of repair. Everything seems to be in order with the catalog.
Some saved files will not reopen in CoreldrawX5 showing an error message 'Encountered an improper argument' and that is it! Â Very frustrating as all the work seems to be lost and needs to be redone.
I am using Premiere Pro CC, up to date, on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. After week's vacation opened large project to find all clips offline. When I linked, they located fine but OK produce "the importer reported a generic error". I know the clips are on their hard drives and have not changed position. I am not sure of next step. I have always been able to link before though have not used "locate" dialogue box. Checking other projects reveals consistent problem with importer.
I'm getting the same error on a project. Originally created in CC/Mac, down converted to CS6/PC (I don't yet have the exact version release). The sequence is 10 layers deep, and throws this error if we try to preview. If 8 of the 10 layers are turned off, then the sequence will preview as normal. So, is this a bug and is there a CS 6 version release that fixes this, or am I looking to reallocate RAM?
i can't find this tool, it's a borehole importer.i am using civil3d 2012 with students ver.Where can i find Borehole import? Is this tool restricted for student ver.?
I am using subscription with Revit DB LINK, but Borehole importer can't use.
I have it installed, I have the plugin "loaded" and "auto-loaded", but when I try to import a .3ds file, there is no geometry or anything. I see "Transform1" in the Outliner, and I don't really see any errors.
I tried playing around with windows, hit "show all" on everything I can find.
How can I make my lightroom 5 program the default importer of my photos? I have an iMac and the photos are loading onto ithe Photo program rather than Lightroom.
When I (am force) to use the Video Importer (because my clips are on a USB drive) it seems to find and select all videos on this USB drive. This is not what I want. I want to browse to the directory (on the USB drive) that I created. It contains the 6 video clips I want to import, not all 300 on the drive.  How to I select a specific directory on the USB drive using Video Importer  I'm using Premiere 12.
After Effects 11.0.4 Running on OSX 10.6.8 Â Been getting this error for a couple of weeks.Updated to the latest version - 11.0.4 - no joy.Have just completely formatted and reinstalled everything and still getting the error.
I am running W8 with i5 3350 and a GTX 640 and 20GB of 1600 Mhz RAM (all at default settings). I am using AE CS6 11.0.2.12  I am using a dedicated 256 SSD for my cache drive------i.e. the ONLY thing on that drive is the AE cache information. I have allotted different sizes in the cache preferences, from 140- 220GB (The drive has 240GB free space when formatted).  The problem is, that no mater what the size of the cache that I try, if there is less free space on the drive than what the specified cache size is I will get the error  "your disk cache folder is on a drive that does not have enough available space" when opening After Effects.   ( 240GB formatted capacity)  160GB of cache specified in preferences + 100GB of information currently cached on drive = 260GB = The error message upon opening after     effects  160GB of cache specified in preferences + 60GB of information currently cached on drive = 220GB = No error message  I do NOT get the error if I make the cache small enough, or delete the cache before opening AE, but that completely destroys the purpose of the cache in the first place.  With that, I have two questions:  1. Is there a fix for this that tells AE to cool its jets a little and recognize that the information on the SSD that is taking up space and making not enough space available is AE's own cache information?  2. If the answer to (1) is no, then is this an error I can just ignore without any major issues?  Right now it seems that this means that I can only make my cache<50% of the total formatted capacity of the drive, which seems a bit over zealous.  [URL]
