View 1 RepliesThe attached csv file contains x,y,z coordinates and the image number per row (only 1 in this file). I am reading in this file and creating a spline knot at each of these points. The last coordinate x,y,z set closes the splines and creates a shape that resembles a US state. I next extrude it a couple inches and it looks like a hollow 3-D state.
My question is how do I go about capping (or filling) the top and bottom faces? I have a feeling it is a bit more complicated because of the large number of knots, around 127, in this shape. As every time I try and follow the cap surface instructions in the reference it doesn't do what I want. Is there any way to automatically or by using a script join the vertices so that it looks like a mesh grid on the top and bottom and then fill in those areas?

The extruded face with System Copy on it has gone really nasty. It looked great before I rendered it! which I daren't render.

I can only sketch on one section the upper and lower sections it won't allow me too.
The top should be offset to the right but I am unable to draw the sketch onto the fame.
I am trying to create a 3D meshed surface from an irregular shaped solid I created using firstly a SPLINE, FILLET, PEDIT, and EXTRUDE. I have a solid in the basic shape now, but I am trying to create a meshed top and bottom (x, y, z,) to change the contours of those surfaces. I have looked at 3DMesh but it asks for (n,M,) coordinates like it is a regular shaped surface (square, rectangle) where one can calculate the required even spacing needed.
My goal is to create in CAD something like a fine art carved piece of wood, with irregular shaping and no straight planes or surfaces.
I have included a basic picture in JPEG format for your review. This is the item from which I am trying in ACAD 2010 to construct into a usable adjustable form so I may parametric for my needs.
I hope ya'll will forgive me but I am drawing a blank on a simple matter. When I try to apply a gradient to the type on this, I have to rasterize the type. This applies the gradient to the entire image rather than just they type.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create some 3D text where the front (facing towards the user) side of the text has a gradient applied to it. I've tried applying the gradient before extruding it but as soon as you make it 3D the gradient dissapears. And there doesn't seem any options to apply a gradient in the inflation material layer. I'm sure this is possible though
View 9 Replies View RelatedEven starting with a clean slate 400x400 white background, my gradient tool wont fill! The fill bucket works fine, not the gradient. I've selected 5 or so different shades, everything, no luck. I'm in Normal blend mode, 100% opacity etc. I dont see why I cant apply a gradient! Dont know if this will help but when mousing over with the gradient tool, the cursor turns into a small "+" for some reason.....

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an image I am trying to create that I want to fade from right to left. In other words, I want the right side of the image to be full clarity, color, etc., and have it generally fade to almost gone by the time it gets to the left edge. Think of it as a gradient for an image.
Any way to do that with Gimp?
I found a blur tool. If I cannot do this with some kind of gradient tool, is there a "fade" tool?
I am having a problem with my Text to Path, specifically, I want to apply a gradient to my text, however when I make my path and select my text, the outline only appears over part of my text and thus I am not able to apply the gradient to the entire block.
Edit:
It seems like there is a character limit for this type of text, because I added some characters and it shrunk my selected area further.
Not able to apply gradient along or across stroke of an outline of a shape or a line drawn with the pen tool using Illustrator CC.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that all these gradients-in-stroke options are only available for strokes that are aligned to the center of the path. I have tried to set inside and outside strokes, but i cannot for the life of me activate the right two options (even though they look like i can click on them).
Gradient-in-stroke options:
I was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. Scripting doesn't scare me too much, if it comes to that, but I'd prefer a manual approach.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUpdated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

Can what i need to achieve actually be done?

If I enter the Stress Analysis Environment in 2012, I can apply pressures to surfaces, but what if the pressure varies (eg, with height as it does in a tank holding a fluid). Is it possible to apply a variable pressure to a surface with Inventor's FEA? It doesn't seem like it, I also searched this forum and the net, couldn't find anything. Usually one can enter an equation, that also doesn't work.
