View 2 RepliesI am developing a plugin for Illustrator CS5, 6. I have a scenario which requires the plugin to place a text frame inside a closed path art. How can I calculate the proper destination coordinates? The path art can be a curve or a rectangle, any shape. I need to place the text frame inside the path such that no part of the text frame overlaps the boundaries of the path art.
I looked at the forum and found the following thread: [URL] .....
Here, its stated that the method AIPathfinderSuite::DoFrontMinusBackEffect of the API did the required task. I tried the same but couldn't get it to work.
My first preference is to use the Illustrator SDK, not any third party libraries.
It seems that gradient stroke only works as 'within stroke' for calligraphic brushes... and it's frustrating. I'm using CS6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an image I am trying to create that I want to fade from right to left. In other words, I want the right side of the image to be full clarity, color, etc., and have it generally fade to almost gone by the time it gets to the left edge. Think of it as a gradient for an image.
Any way to do that with Gimp?
I found a blur tool. If I cannot do this with some kind of gradient tool, is there a "fade" tool?
I am having a problem with my Text to Path, specifically, I want to apply a gradient to my text, however when I make my path and select my text, the outline only appears over part of my text and thus I am not able to apply the gradient to the entire block.
Edit:
It seems like there is a character limit for this type of text, because I added some characters and it shrunk my selected area further.
i want to have multiple offsetoutlines on a closed or non-closed path. with "offset path" i can make only one additional outline but i need multiple?
i searched all over the net for answers with no success.
What I'm trying to do is curve a white to black gradient along a windscreen wiper smear for a rail engine cab window I need to texture. I'm building the cab for an engine in RailWorks and to get the wiper to clear raindrops from the screen in time with the wiper motion the texture needs a gradient applied to it from the wiper rest position to full up position.
In the picture the actual wiper smear is all black. What I need to do is have it all white from the vertical part of the smear or the wiper rest position, to all black at the maximum part of its stroke. This means the gradient will be a lot shallower on the outer edge of the arc and a lot steeper at the inner edge of the arc.
Alright, with out pictures, let me try to explain what I'm trying to do I'm trying to create a black and white (grayscale) top-down gradient of half a cone.
I select a circle, and using the cone gradient, start from the middle and go outward to the edges. Great so far, I have a top-down cone, but what I really need is only half of that, as if I was creating a top-down volcano with the top half sliced off and a flat rounded middle.
This is becoming a bump-map so the RGB value must match perfectly the highest point of the gradient with the sliced off part.
I have a closed object and a line outside this object. I want to take anypoint on this polyline as a reference and check whether that point is lying inside the closed object or outside.

So if i have 34 closed polyline in drawing, and i wont to be erased everything inside those polyline?.
I know I can wrap text around an object with the properties docker, but I don't know how to wrap it inside a closed shape (not a box).
How can I put text inside a circle, for example? In other words, How to put text inside a curved container?
When creating a work path on a new layer, the path is a grayish black color is there a way to create that path to be a different color, yellow for instance? Using CS6, I don't see it in preferences anywhere

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to swap which side of a closed path - inside or
outside - masks a fill layer?
Let's say you draw a closed path with pen tool and then add a solid color fill layer which will be masked by the path so that the inside of the
path gets the color - what if you want the color on the outside instead,
how do you do it?
Is it possible to apply a gradient to a line? I was able to create the line below using the drawing tools in MS Excel and was hoping to do the same in CorelDraw X6, however, I did not see any outline color gradient options.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seems that all these gradients-in-stroke options are only available for strokes that are aligned to the center of the path. I have tried to set inside and outside strokes, but i cannot for the life of me activate the right two options (even though they look like i can click on them).
Gradient-in-stroke options:
When I apply a curtain system to a mass, the curtain panels flip inside to outside as shown in the attached image, when applied to a curved mass surface. Additionally, if these systems are applied independently the system justification (beginning and end) is reversed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create some 3D text where the front (facing towards the user) side of the text has a gradient applied to it. I've tried applying the gradient before extruding it but as soon as you make it 3D the gradient dissapears. And there doesn't seem any options to apply a gradient in the inflation material layer. I'm sure this is possible though

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. Scripting doesn't scare me too much, if it comes to that, but I'd prefer a manual approach.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEven starting with a clean slate 400x400 white background, my gradient tool wont fill! The fill bucket works fine, not the gradient. I've selected 5 or so different shades, everything, no luck. I'm in Normal blend mode, 100% opacity etc. I dont see why I cant apply a gradient! Dont know if this will help but when mousing over with the gradient tool, the cursor turns into a small "+" for some reason.....

View 4 Replies View RelatedUpdated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.
