Illustrator :: Apply One Gradient Across Multiple Live Paint Objects?

Aug 9, 2013

I need to apply a single gradient acros a number of live paint objects but am finding it annoyingly hard to find a way.  I know that normally, to apply a gradient across multiple objects, you would need to make them all into one compound path but does this apply to live paint groups in any way??  Can what i need to achieve actually be done?

Illustrator :: How To Trim Or Merge Gradient

Oct 16, 2013

Whenever I try to trim or merge a gradient it only divides it, but when it's solid it works. Why? I'm trying to trim/merge some artwork with a lot of gradients and it's making it impossible. Any way to do this with gradients. Here is an image of what I'm talking about showing it working with solids, but not gradients.

Illustrator :: Apply Gradient Across Stroke Not Working Now?

Jul 3, 2013

Updated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

Illustrator :: How To Merge Or Flatten Set Of Objects

Jun 20, 2013

I have this image, which came in the form of a jpeg or similar pixelated  format, and I opened it in AI CS5 and did a live trace to vectorize it. it came out with a billion points.  I had to add some  "shading"--the black facets of the diamond--so I direct selected the  facets I needed and then filled them black.  Since then I've been trying  to make the whole damn thing one shape so that I can put a stroke  around only the outside of the diamond, but haven't been able to figure  out how to do it. While I definitely started out with a diamond that was mostly white, with the outline in black, it is acting as if there is a black outline base layer with some white layered on top.  I also don't know how that happened.  I understand that I could use the pen tool and redraw  this easily--that's not the point..

Illustrator :: How To Merge Objects And Retain Fill

Oct 30, 2012

I am using Illustrator CS6

I have a vector shape with a gradient fill. I then gave it a gradient stroke as well, but I wanted to edit the stroke separately so I expanded the stroke from the fill. Now I have 2 objects; my shape and the separate stroke as it's own shape. This seemed necessary to be able to use the gradient tool on the stroke to manually move the gradient.

Now, I would like to merge these back into one layer, so when I go to edit the points to all move in one direction, they all move together without going all wonky.

Is this possible? Or have a screwed myself over by expanding the object?

Illustrator :: Apply Random Color To Group Of Objects

Here's my issue... lets say I have 600 different objects in illustrator (just little circles with a fill color, no stroke) and 6 different colors that these circles should be. That means, I'd like about a 100 to be one color, 100 another color, etc... Is there anyway to select all 600 and just tell Illustrator that I have these 6 colors and I want to apply them to the selected objects randomly?

AutoCad :: How To Apply Hatch Patterns To Other Objects By Apply Properties

Jul 28, 2012

I have a hatch pattern in one of my objects. I want to apply exactly the same hatch pattern to other objects but I don't remember the settings for original hatch.

There is a command in ACAD to apply properties of one object to others (brush icon in toolbar). I tries to use this command but it seams that it doesn't work for hatch.

What is easiest way to apply a hatch pattern from an object to the other one?

Illustrator :: CS6 - Expanding Gradient To Separate Objects

Jun 7, 2013

On illustrator cs6, I have a complex shaped with a gradient fill. when I go to expand there is an option that says Expand Gradient and you select the amount of objects. so I selected 6 objects, and the expand tool did what I expected, my object got divided into 6 objects with fill colors relative to the gradient.

so I hit undo, and I moved a stop on my gradient slightly to affect the results a bit, and now it wont expand the same way. my gradient stays a gradient. I tried drawing new shapes with gradients and the gradient wont expand.

Illustrator :: Possible To Apply Path Styles To Live Paint Objects Or Clipping Paths?

Jul 13, 2012

I want to create an illustration with black outlines. Within these outlines I want to have some spots without outlines that stay clean within the lines. I have tried 3 options so far and have found a solution but it's far from ideal.

1. Create clipping masks for each element that has a spot on it and assign a stroke to the clipping path again after. However by creating the clipping path, the path styles dissapear. In this case I want to keep the pointed ends to the open path outlines (see top image).

2. Draw in the lines where the spots are and create a live paint object of the entire illustration. Then paint in the spots and other areas. However when I create this live paint object the lines again lose their applied styles and even 'end' at each intersection, creating nasty edges where the lines should go 'underneath' smoothly (see bottom image).

3. The option Im using now. Duplicate the path outlines and create clipping masks for the spots without strokes. Then put the stroked outline with the desired styles on top. The problem with this is that I have almost twice as much elements in my illustration now than I actually 'need'. And the styled outlines are not connected with the color underneath, so its very easy to accidentally move something around...

Any easier way to create this effect without all the hassle?

Paint Shop Pro :: How To Apply Gradient Map To Brush

Jul 26, 2011

I was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. Scripting doesn't scare me too much, if it comes to that, but I'd prefer a manual approach.
