View 3 RepliesI recently bought corel paintshop x4 and when i am trying to use the skin smoothing option in 'adjust' absolutely nothing happens.. i have been googling and seaching on youtube but havent found anything. could there be anything wrong with my settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just started using the Paintshop Pro X4. In fact, I am still using the trial version and I want to use it so I can see if I want to buy it in a couple of weeks. However, I am not really very knowledgeable about computers, computer language and all the technical stuff. So things have to be pretty obvious to me.
Just for practice, I have downloaded a photo of a cherry and a leaf. Not great art, but a nice clear photograph. Of course I want it to be larger than the thumbnail image, so I have blown it up to 6"x6" Now the edge of the cherry, the leaf and the stem are all jagged. I know that is because of the pixels - but I still want to know how to get around it and smooth the edges when I enlarge something.
I'm trying to remove skin blemishes like acne but not sure what is PSP x4's equivalent to Adobe's cloning?
It's where you can select an area that you want to fix up and when u drag the mouse anywhere else around the face, it clones that skin over the selected skin blemish.
got the new Alien Skin plugins to work. When you install Alien Skin, you install to a single directory, both 32 bit and 64 bit plugins. Then in X5, File Locations, I put that directory in the settings but still nothing. maybe X5 doesn't work with them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBut,I couldn't figure out how to "paint back in detail" like it described, into the eyes and lips. It said something like "paint with a black brush over the blur mask to eliminate the blur in specific areas." I couldn't find a black brush; which brush is it talking about?
Also, I'd like to know how to apply this technique to just an area I've selected with the lasso tool, like her face.
I recently acquired Photoshop to colorize old black & white images. While I'm quite familiar with colorization techniques, I need help with something before I get started. I scanned a lot of the images (from paper instead of photographs) I plan on using at fairly high dpis--I thought larger images allow for more manipulation--but find that nearly every second pixel has some kind of black spot on it.
I'm sure there's some technical term for this, though I'm unfamiliar with it. Anyway, does anyone know how to fix the pictures so they can be rendered more realistically? I've tried the blur tool for modest results but am looking for something better.
I downloaded some skin brushes which add more details to the skin after smoothing it..but how can I use it...is it used to mask the blurred layer to keep some details ?

I have an image scanned from an old newspaper. The original newspaper image was made with dots, so the scanned image is 'blotchy'. What tools I can use smooth the image and bring it back into a crisp photograph?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having little diffilculty with rotating a layer and maintaining straight sharp edges to the layer.
Lets say I draw a solid colour rectangle, when I rotate the rectangle the edges become jagged. Is there anyway to avoid this?
I have tried various plug-ins to blur/feather the edges, but I require a sharp finish.
I have attached a sample of one edge.

I know this has to do with Anti-alias but as far as I can see , Paint.net only has this option as On or Off.
I would like to be able to adjust the aggressive of smoothing quality. This would allow me to draw very smooth curve with minimal effort using a mouse.
Gimp 2 has this option Smooth stroke I really like it but too bad, gimp 2 is slow to load and is not as lean as Paint.net. I suppose it should be something like a setting, not an effect that applies after the curves have been drawn.
Here is to demonstrate the effect : It is smoother, I drew it by a mouse
I would like to change skin color in a picture, without disturbing the detail/features of the face.
for example, see attached picture.
I would like to change the dark skin face at left to a lighter color skin, something like the other persons. what are the steps i need to take with Paint.net to achieve this?

I just learned how to edit existing Winamp skins and change their buttons/backgrounds. I want to create a Winamp skin of Kimidori Emiri using the following image.
[URL]........
How can I trace Kimidori Emiri, in the aforementioned image, and cut her out so that she looks like Hatsune Miku (smooth and not jagged) in the following image?
[URL]......
Things I have tried:
- I tried two different outline plugins but was unable to get them to work.
- I tried tracing Kimidori Emiri using the line tool but I'm not sure how to delete the rest of the image and it's really difficult to get a smooth cut anyway.
- I tried selecting pixels using the magic wand tool and it was great except the tool ended up selecting pixels that are apart of Kimidori Emiri too.
I'm still using Maya 2009 because I really hated what they did to 2010 and 2011. Features that I use often were removed. Multilister being one of them. Now I feel like I'm falling behind too much so thinking of upgrading to 2012 but I ran into a few issues while trying out the trial version.
Paint skin weights tool in 2009, I had the ability to set scale value above 1. Flood smooth couple times and flood scale 1.1 couple times and skinning was pretty much done. It was very quick way to dial in skinning and very effective. Now in 2012, I can't set scale value above 1.000. Has this been moved somewhere else or has it just been taken out? Why is Autodesk keep taking out useful features?

View 2 Replies View Related I am trying to turn my subjects skin into an almost snow-white without losing any details to his face (like lines, texture).
Now I think this could be accomplished using the "colored eye" technique but I feel like there is another way to do this with all the different tools and effects that would be easier.
I occasionally use GIMP to burn-down parts of portraits that compete with the face. For example, bare shoulder, midriff over-light, hands over-lit.
The skin ends up looking greyish, not like less-lit skin. It works not too badly visually, as the emphasis is on the face, but fails on inspection.
I have tried the burn tool and just plain old Brightness, both on a selected area.
Just came upon an error I had not seen before. Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! There's still some communication there, because an error message - which, incidentally, makes absolutely no sense at all - is generated in PSP X4:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use the paint brush for editing a photo I have, but the only color available is black. No matter where I've looked in PSP, there was no option to change the color of the paint brush. I've read online that you need to change the pallet to material pallet, then go to "Foreground & Stroke Properties" and set the color box to the color I want, but the only colors I get are different hues of black and gray.
Even in Paint it's just a matter of clicking the desired color to use different colors. Why isn't it so simple in PSP?

Could I have a description of how to match the skin color of the head to the boxer's skin color?
For some reason when I use my Paint Skin weights tool, the mesh does not go into a grey scale type shader. Instead, the textured model is still displayed instead of the black and doesn't display weight values in the greyscale I'm used to.
Did I mess up settings somewhere? I know I'm in Paint Skin Weights tool because I can see the bones when it goes into Xray. I can open other scene files and can view the weights just fine.
Note: I have tried the following fixes: copied the mesh into a new scene, made sure it wasn't a subdiv shape.
I am using Maya 2010
Ok, either I am totally loosing it, or it just ain't happening.
I cannot get the Nik HDR module to work with my PSP X5
It's installed, it shows up in my Effects menu, but it only imports one of the photos I have opened in my edit tab.
What am I missing??
Using PSPP X3 Ultimate.
I have some Tif files and jpeg files that are 600dpi and 400dpi. I scanned these images with my Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F scanner. Can i use my version of PSPP X3 Ultimate to change the dpi value? Is this stuck? I wanted to be able to get the 600 and 400 dpi image files (I have some 300dpi's too) down to the 100-250 range if I needed to. I see there are different export options and compression in PSPPX3Ultimate, but I'm not sure if this will do what I want.
I want to export as Tif and Jpeg again.
Are there any good third party photo and or video editors that I can batch edit this with? It's ok to mention pay programs and I'd prefer good quality freeware if there is such a thing. I am sure that my Corel program can do the trick though. I just don't know how and don't want to rescan multiple dpi's every single time. I only need the archives and then get the smaller dpi when needed.
I was using a trial version of paint shop pro x5 and still had 11 days left of my trial when it suddenly stopped working. When I click on the icon to start paint shop pro it starts up and then freezes every time when it is loading in the spot that says "initializing color swatches".
I haven't changed anything on my computer- it just suddenly stopped working. I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling it, I also tried restoring it.
I installed PaintShop Pro Ultimate X3 several months ago. It worked fine initially, but then stopped running and gave me an error message pertaining to a language error. In an effort to fix the problem, I have completely uninstalled the application and removed all of its registry entries. I then reinstalled the program, which appeared to be successful, however, now it simply will not run and gives no error message whatsoever. When you click the desktop icon, it tries to load momentarily, then does nothing more.
I have removed my virus protection and my User Account Control.
