Okay I'm making an image and I want to create a black border around a freely drawn selection but then feather it in so the opacity of the black border starts at 0 and ends at 100. How would I do this?
View 4 RepliesI have some small rectangular drawing of different sizes (about 3" x 4" or 5" at 200 pixels/inch).
I want to place a simple solid black line border around the edge of the canvas. These drawings have a white background.I do not want white showing past the outside edge of the border.I want the border to show with an even smooth width on all four edges of the drawing.I want to specify the color and the width of this border. Here is what I have unsuccessfully tried: Using the Rectangle or the Line tool on a layer assigned for the border is a hit and mostly miss proposition.
For the Rectangle tool, once the rectangle is placed on this layer, I do not know how the adjust this rectangle. I erase the rectangle and try again. Sometime what I see is okay, but most of the time what I see is irregular and poorly positioned. For the Line tool the lines drawn often show as a stepped line, not a single width line. I do not know how to not have these steps occur, and I of course do not want curved lines. Can you instruct me about how I can create a simple solid black line border around the edge of the canvas?
I'm trying Illustrator CC. In old versions, the last objects drawn with brush or pencil was selected automatically, now we need to manually select the object for modify it. Is there a way to activate the automatic selection of the last object drawn?

I put the overlay as my second layer, but when saving it always prompts me whether I want to combine the layers or not. Is there a way to make the overlay a static non-layer grid image?

I'm a Model Railroader, as the screen name implies. "RRArtist" RailRoad Artist. Anyway, I have a MoPar garage, planned, I have this 3D model, built, I'm merely working on a sign, that is based off I think the 1950's.....This sign, will depict my interests in MoPar, a "Hemi", and the classy girls used back in the day, as part of the sign, AND will be lighted......SO, in 1/87th to the foot scale (Pretty small) its nearly impossible to get a "Hemi" motor, and be able to see that it is a Hemi! SO, my plan, is to take a 1:25th scale Hemi motor, and mount it to a sign pole, that's a pipe, to carry wires for lighting. Then UNDER this sign, will be a girl, that looks as tho, she is holding up a sign that says "Hemi" in the old "MoPar" signage.....UNDER her will be this Hemi Motor.....BUT the lighting is the fun part as the "lamp shades. will be CHROMED Hemi Valve Covers.....With the motor itself, painted orange, with black valve covers.....
Now this girl on the sign, is the issue.............. The girl is actually a blonde.....(don't ask LOL) I need to change her hair color... to red! Problem is? The clothing shes wearing, a short skirt, or short shorts, that are also...........RED.... so, it leaves way to much "red" for the sign......Looks good as is, don't get me wrong, BUT, if I can replace her blonde hair with red hair, to match the "looks" of the image, to be "believable" is GREAT, BUT I want to remove the red from her clothing, and make it Hemi Orange.......... trimmed in black with the silverish looks it already has, blended into the red as you will see...
This whole project is going on a display I'm adding to my layout for looks for when I run trains and to show my other interest.......... old MoPar muscle cars that were Hemi with a garage to repair them, from back in the day......Trying to make all the colors fall into place is my issue!
I am trying to export a DWG as a WMF in AutoCAD LT 2008. Every time I export it, whether from model or paper space, a black border is placed around the exported image. Is there any way to get AutoCAD to stop adding this border?
I was opening it in Adobe Illustrator to delete the border and exporting as a WMF from AI. However, this last export was distorting the image i.e. in AutoCAD the distance between points A and B were equal, but in AI the distance between A and B were NOT equal. It is critical that the image is not distorted in any way.
It must be a WMF because it is being used by a piece of software my coworker is coding. The software cannot handle any other vector graphic formats. A vector graphic is necessary because the software has a zoom function.
Finally, I cannot use BetterWMF or anything similiar because I am unable to install software on my work computer.

As you see, the artboard has a black border. I need to get rid of it. It shows up in my project when my color key is green. The black won't go to transparent.
So how-to get rid of the border?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have VS X2 (sp1 & sp2 installed). I am trying to convert videos from an uncompressed AVI format to something of reasonable size.
Unfortunately, the original source of these videos only output at 1080i, so EVERYTHING (including some only NTSC standard def videos) is upscaled to 1080i format.
Problem #1: the up-scaled NTSC 4:3 videos are full top-to-bottom screen, with the expected black-bars on left/right. When I try to write them out in any VS X2 output format, they end up getting an additional black border all around, as if they are being shrunk. The pixelation is horrible (it's not like their quality started out good). What I'd really like to do is just get them converted to standard def with NO borders.
Problem #2: even native HD captures (mostly 1080i) end up with a small black border as if they've been slightly shrunk / scaled.
I have tried the CROP and the PAN/ZOOM filters and cannot find a setting or combination that makes these full-size, no-border.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used Photoshop CS3 to create a coupe of boxes in black, nothing fancy, just pure black boxes as for background stuff for a web page, and then saved it for Web through photoshop whereby the html and images are created. Opening the html in dreamweaver appears ok until i add a dark background and white "strokes" appear on my boxes drawn using PS.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am creating a peice of artwork in illustrator. I have cut out the icecream image in photoshop and placed it in illustrator as a psd file. It looks fine in illustrator, looks like it should do. The problem occurs when I export to pdf, a black border around the ice cream image appears. However when I print the black border does not display. So the issue with the black border only appears on the pdf. Check out the attachment beow for example of what I mean.

The screen portion is supposed to be white, as well as the buttons. The border of the black section is gray, as is the edge of the phone.
I'm printing a letter size document from illustrator at 50% size. All pages have a white background so I would like to have the document print with a black rule/ border around it so I can tell what it will look like. Is there a way to do this without manually putting a rule around all 25 existing artboards? Or is there a way to do this in the Acrobat pdf I'm outputting from this doc?(CS5)

I mean seriously speaking even youtube tutorials from people having popular tutorial channels look quite amateur so not sure if Corel video studio is any good for making for example nice looking serious marketing clips.
In particular I want to achieve pretty basic effect with sliding transparent title bar and then title appearing (for example current speaker name) and then slide off.
It's the basic thing you see on TV all the time in talk shows or news channels.
Do I need to literally for example create white rectangular jpg first to use it as a background bar for subtitles? And then for example apply transparency, animate it and then shpw/animate text on top?I know there are attributes like Enter from right etc, but it's so simple and template like Powerpoint. I mean, I don't expect rolling in and out animation but at least more control over movement direction, position and timing.I think the newest Path feature from X6 looks like something I would be after but is there anything for that in X5? It seams very basic feature.
if I want to keep it tidy and apply the same animation for each title/text do just copy the set of clips with effects or there are ways of saving the 'template' so it is equally precise and the same every time throughout the movie.
any way to make a cogo point label become freely movable. Just now I can move it somewhat freely to the left or to the right of the original location, but if I want to move it just up or down it doesn't work very well. It flips around the (invisible) leader.
