I'm trying Illustrator CC. In old versions, the last objects drawn with brush or pencil was selected automatically, now we need to manually select the object for modify it. Is there a way to activate the automatic selection of the last object drawn?
View 1 RepliesI've relaunched and tried re-installing Illustrator CC twice and didn't solve this unexpected crash problem. It has never happened since I paid for this software months ago.
Illustrator won't crash when:
- using the keyboard arrows to manually move any path or drawn shapes/ objects
- using my wireless mouse to draw objects/ new paths from clipboards, colour boards etc.
Illustrator CRASHES when:
- using my wireless mouse and macbook's touchpad mouse to move any new or old drawn paths/ objects/ shapes/ lines etc.
In my Opinion - ROOT OF PROBLEM:
- Wirelss and macbook's touchpad mouse cursor causees it to hang then crash 1 minute later.
Why would my mouse cursor suddenly be the cause of this crash problem when it was working fine all along?

Okay I'm making an image and I want to create a black border around a freely drawn selection but then feather it in so the opacity of the black border starts at 0 and ends at 100. How would I do this?

For example with the picture I posted here, what I want to do is be able to select the objects that are in contact with the black object on top without having to individually select them or use the "lasso" tool
It would make things easier with a "Select all objects under or above" option, theres only the "Select next object under or above"
In CS6, when you apply an effect that somehow expands the appearance of an object, for example by making multiple clones, all of these clones become selectable. If you click on or drag-box an area that includes these clones, the original object will be selected.
is there a way to make CS6 only select an object if I click on the original vectors?

For example: draw 10 squares on a layer, select all of them, click on one of the 10 and it becomes the Key Object (heavy border) for things like Distribute Spacing on the Align pallete. I can determine that a particular object is selected via ActiveDocument.Selection.PathItem[n].Selected = true/false. But I can't figure out how to find out if this is the KeyObject. The ultimate goal is to modify the below script so that it uses the KeyObject as the reference and not the object on the bottom-most layer.

I am no longer able to change size of an object as the size rectangle doesn't surround it anymore when i highlight it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't have any particular speed issue with illustrator CS6 in general. However there is a massive speed problem when I'm trying to select on object on the artboard with a single click.
When selecting a object by creating a "rectangle" over the object it works fine and normal speed. When clicking the object to select it, nothing happens for about 3/4 seconds, then the loading little rainbow circle appears and loads for another 3/4 seconds...
When I click and drag with the direct selection tool, I'm getting a drag on the object rather than a marque for selecting points. As soon as I click, the tool switches to the black arrow tool. Did I mess up a setting somewhere? I'm not using any modifier keys.

However, everything I draw, weather its a line, a shape or different objects crossing each other, will have some kind of tag next to it, telling what kind of corner or intersection it is. It's very informative, but they are simply too larger on my display, I hardly get to see what I'm drawing. So frankly I'd love to know how to remove them.

I followed the suggestion of going to Edit > Preferences > General to uncheck the "Place or Drag Raster Images as Smart Obejct" but that option does not appear in Photoshop CS4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know whether Corel Draw can fill a shape with another shape or object/icon so that it gets scaled to the shape size. As in this picture: [URL] ...
As you see the shape is a text/font and it's filled with diamonds (it's not simply following a path). If it's not handmade I assume the automatism works like that: there is only 1 diamond = the object, and the object gets duplicated through the entire shape and resized so it fits.
It appears Adobe Illustrator cannot do this automatically, see: [URL] ... (there's another example in the first post), can Corel Draw? I don't have Corel Draw. I am just looking for a program capable of doing it automatically.
Is it possible to select an object for reading in an XRef?
PS I think it has something to do with Editor.SelectNestedEntity() but it is the end of a long day and I can't fathom it out
When I select an object and pan to make another selection the first object "deselects". The object(s) will stay selected until I pan and as soon as I start to pan the grips go away and the object(s) is deselected.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created a very basic shape using the 3D grid as my guide - picture if you will 4 boxes, one on top of each other (as per illustration below):
Each "box" is made up of 3 shapes to give the 3D effect.
I need to resize one of the boxes, the yellow one, which needs to be resized in keeping with the 3D framework (making it smaller in height), and then placing the yellow box above the purple box. How this can be done without having to redraw the shapes in the required positions.
I might add it is the grouped shapes that makes up the box which I am trying to resize in one hit, as opposed to the individual shapes.
Some of the images paste in full color and others don't. They are all vector images and I can't figure out why some would only copy the outlines.

The situation would be... somebody would create a new vector drawing (i.e. made from a photo reference) with outlines and fills. With some easy steps he should be able to turn it into a vector drawing that resembles this style. It should be easy to do... maybe 2 or 3 steps. It could also work with add-ons or plug-ins or something (should work with CS4 upwards).
I designed a logo for some family friends, and the main part of the logo is hand-drawn, and it is made of multiple (a TON) of strokes. The company is getting t-shirts made, and the t-shirt company contacted me to get a "vector file with the fonts outlined." I know quite well how to do this on actual fonts, but how to outline a series of strokes.

My question is, can I change the pressure amount after I drew lines using brush tool. Let’s say I drew a line, it is good but still not satisfactory. I am trying to find out if there is an easy way to make each letter a bit “thinner”. I have been achieving this for digital purposes by adding a stroke to each letter that matches the color of the background it will be used on. This workaround has been effective in getting the look I want but becomes problematic when preparing files for printed applications (t-shirts, stickers, etc.)
Is there an easy way to somehow “thin-out” the letters equivalent to the amount of girth that the stroke appears to take off of each letter?
How can i extend a curved drawn path to include the text thatis hidden on it? I have extended the drawn path (pencil tool) but a red cross in a box symbol stops the text from showing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I am basically a brand new user to ai-cs6 and have been working on a project for a friend. I've drawn up the basic components of the logo she wants, all separate individual pieces. My intention is/was to trace in each piece, and scale, rotate, and clean them up according to how the final piece should look. Where I'm running into trouble is that the sketches are not point perfect, meaning there's some shading in the hand drawn, and the lines are rough in areas. I'm trying to avoid redrawing the pieces because we both are really happy with where they're at.
What I'd like to do with ai-cs6. How to trace very simply a one line vector of the outline of the image. So instead of creating a piece that has stroke straight from the scanned in artwork, I get a single line, with multiple points, that flows the simple shape of the piece. From there it seems it would be pretty simple to just increase the stroke weight and modify the style of line to make it look how we would like. except that since the sketch has some rough line sections ai-cs6 is adding either a lot of detail and making it look pretty rough, or it's missing entire sections and leaving them blank.
In InDesign if i move my folder with images just by re-linking one image of the folder ALL will be linke at once by their names. In Illustrator i have to re-link manually one by one. Am i doing something wrong? Should i have some command selected? Can i do it through a plugin?
