Paint.NET :: Position Elements By Coordinates?
Oct 14, 2013I'm looking to make the jump from Photoshop. Is there a way to position elements/objects/text by coordinates? This is my single biggest gripe with PDN.

View 3 RepliesI have generated a batch of several thousand drawings, and then realized that my 'Page 3' paper space is positioned over page 2 in the model! Is there a way that I can tell 'Page 3' to change position to co-ordinates of my choosing, using only script, so that I can write a batch program to change them all?
My only other option is to correct the error in the master drawing and generate all the thousands of drawings again, which is why I'm keen to explore alternatives!
Is there any way to enter exact position coordinates ( x, y) and dimensions for objects in P'shop? For example, putting a photo in an exact position and sizing it by other than dragging handles with the mouse?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis part is logical. Add text to a vector layer and write a script to show the text and the position. From what I can tell, the Characters key is the text and the Start key is the (X,Y) position.
So far no problem, click the text 1 pixel right and the Start[0] increases by 1. Same with 1 pixel down and Start[1] increases by 1.
Now for the crunch... Rotate the text and Start does not change (no matter how much you move the text).
By trail and error, I find that the Matrix key changes.
Now, Matrix has 9 values and from what I can tell Matrix[0], Matrix[1], Matrix[3] and Matrix[4] somehow relate to angle. Probably sin and cos of the angle from the x- and y- axis respectively.
Matrix [2] and Matrix[5] do increase linearly with shifts in x and y. How does this relate to the actual position of the text
You can see a more detailed description of the problem and my sample script here. [URL]
I want to rotated all of my photo into the up right position but i don't want to go to each photo and rotated every single photo manual Is there a way to rotated multipuly photo at the same time.

When something is selected, the position and size appear in the bottom left corner. Perhaps clicking on this could bring up a window that would let the user enter exact values.
How do I fine tune the vertical position of text?

It's soooo difficult to get accurate pixel position using a mouse.

During 2014 I would like to create 'photo a day' video of myself, similar to this [URL] ........ I have no plans to inflict my work on the world via YouTube and the like, it is purely for my own amusement.
My question is a compositional/editing one. I understand how to take the stills and create a video from them using Windows Movie Maker, not the best software but sufficient for my purposes.
In the link above the young ladies eyes and nose stay at a (mostly) fixed point in the frame, I find this makes for a better video when all the stills are run together. The problem I have, is, when I take stills of myself my nose and eyes are at different positions frame to frame which makes for a rather jumpy end result.
Any tips on how to remedy this, is it done when taking the shot, or in editing afterwards? The shots are taken on a small point and shoot digital camera, as the shots will be taken at various locations etc I wont be able to have a static setup with a tripod and mark on the floor to ensure the same position each time. The method I have tried it just holding the camera out in front of me at arms length and trying to get the same height each time.
Is there a way to easily and quickly edit shots in Paint.NET so that the eyes and nose are at the same position in each frame for a series of photos, I'm not too bothered about all the frames being the same size or the edges lining up etc.
Using Anim8er to make a movie sequence of someone walking. Export images as BMP images.
Select the walking guy and delete the back ground. Found that the walking dude is a little high in the picture. ( I want it 8 pixels from the bottom, not the 16 pixels it currently is.)
I will be cropping each picture. is there a way of selecting the exact same crop area over 200 pictures? In the mean time I will change the camera angle to compensate the height.
Is there a way of using a plug in such as the ALIGN plugin to position the image to a particular point?

Is it possible to setup a block so that an attribute position remaines fixed (absolute to drawing) when moving the block?
I've been playing around with creating a Coordinate Block by following these instructions: [URL] ........
What I would like is to be able to set the position of the Coordinate Label and Coordinate Object independently, so that if I move one in the drawing, it doesn't move the other. I've looked into Dynamic Blocks, and the "Lock Position" parameter. I can move the attribute independently, but still everytime I move the block, the attribute moves too.
Our company uses a custom Sheet/Coordinate system to follow flyoffs across a drawing, and I'm trying to learn how to automate the process. It's completely manually right now, so any changes to a drawing creates a lot of work renumbering these flyoffs.
I'm a GIS analyst trying to learn Cad. I'd like to place a single point in autocad model space at a specific Northing/Easting position. After reading several forum threads I don't think CAD allows me to change the coordinate system of model space from map coords to northing easting coords, as we can in GIS.

Before Photoshop Elements 10, when setting up to print, I was able to uncheck "center" and then I could drag the image anywhere I wanted on the printing surface. Now, there is a blue box that doesn't move and the image is cut off by the bounderies if you drag it away from center. I want to be able to drag the image anywhere I want on the paper and then print, like I used to be able to. How do I do that?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just started exploring APE 11 and found one problem. I cannot control GPS coordinates and location tags when I use Add Places. Google maps does not always show correct place on map when address is entered, if I adjust the place on map manually, it either loses location tags or asumes that it is another address. Neither scenario is desired. What I would love to do is to be able to type coordinates and edit location tags (now only deletion is an option). API 11 does not allow to do what I want, is that correct?
I was thinking about doing some manipulation with *.pse11db file as it apperantly is SQLite database. Any example of SQL query that would
a) list all photos (their full file paths) for specified album and
b) SQL query that would allow to edit GPS coordinates and location tags for specified photo (its full file path)?
I have just bought Elements 12. Great programme. I used to use Picasa 3, a good free programme. In Picasa it is easy to move images around in their folders by simply click, drag and drop. This does not work in elements. Is it possible to achieve this somehow?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to ensure that the position of attributes on a block match the position on another block?
I just used the ATTIN command to upload a bunch of data to the block attributes on a drawing, and now the information is all over the place.
Instead of going through each one manually and repositioning the attributes (a VERY lengthy process), I want to use a "correct" version as a template of sorts to inform the other selected blocks of where to place the attributes and have it reposition the whole thing automatically.
Is this even possible?
I'm need a Gradient Map tool. If you're in Photoshop Elements 9, click on Filter - Adjustments - Gradient Map.
That's the tool I'm looking for. I downloaded a few plugins for Paint but one was too old and didn't work and the other one just did an overlay.
I use this tool a lot and really can't make the switch without it. Is there an updated plugin that I couldn't find? Is it built in and I'm not seeing it?
I've been using Photoshop 7 for years and have some .png graphic elements with clear backgrounds, which I use to make cover photos for a Facebook page. When I open these graphic files with paint.net I expect to see two layers - one for the clear background and one for the graphic itself, but instead I see just one layer. If I then open a photo and try to paste the graphic overlay on top of it the clear background doesn't work, the checkerboard pattern is displayed instead.
is there a simple way to make these files work as they used to in Photoshop, i.e without going to the trouble of masking things off and clearing backgrounds all over again? Can they be opened in paint.net with the see-through background fully functional from the off?
Whether just dealing w/ a png file (resizing) like attached, or converting to smaller sized icon, for the most part it eliminates the white circle, when reduce to somewhere around 32 x 32 px.
Maybe this is because the reduction makes the given element too small to reproduce?
But, in the reduced versions, there are PARTS of the white line that are clearly visible - but not a solid white line. So if it shows part of the line, as an intermittently dashed line, why can't it show the entire line?
The image was created / saved at 32 bits. It's not only a problem dealing w/ icons - it's reducing png files as well.
I'm thinking it may be better to start off w/ an image close to the finished size. But w/ icons in one icon file ranging from 16 to 64 & even 256 px, that's hard to do.
Recently, when I have tried to paint on PSE, the paint layers on underneath previous strokes I've made. In addition to this, the opacity seems to be rather strange, sometimes changing the area above the new paint stroke to a completely new color while other times it is just as if it were at 100% opacity. Is this a certain setting so that the paint layers on normally?
