Paint.NET :: Gradient Map Similar To Photoshop Elements
Oct 19, 2012
I'm need a Gradient Map tool. If you're in Photoshop Elements 9, click on Filter - Adjustments - Gradient Map.
That's the tool I'm looking for. I downloaded a few plugins for Paint but one was too old and didn't work and the other one just did an overlay.
I use this tool a lot and really can't make the switch without it. Is there an updated plugin that I couldn't find? Is it built in and I'm not seeing it?

Is it possible to create a gradient similar to radial gradient, except that the shape is other than circular? This image would be the starting point, but I would like the white part fading to black to be another shape (say, a rectangle, a banana, etc.).

The closer I got to the same look was to create a brush with the size of 1 pixel and 500% spacing, but it's still a bit slow to get even a small area looking like it's been sprayed. Plus, in the end my pattern looks too regular, not very natural. Here is part of the image whose look I'm trying to recreate (400% and 100%).

Is there a plugin like "Light Rays" but instead of giving it that 3d effect, it's just 2d bars in the angle/size of your choice?
i tried searching it up but a whole bunch of threads having nothing to do with it keep popping up and the plugin index .

A vector editor/maker similar to the UI of PDN? I always liked the simplicity that PDN offers while being able to create stunning works, but I'm working on some flash movies and have been told vector images are the way to go.

I have an awesome photo .......except that there was a spotlight pointing in my direction as I took it. The result is a glare. Otherwise the pic is a classic chiaroscuro cityscape.
I know it cannot be totally removed, but is there a way its effect can be reduced almost unnoticeably. I tried -Adjustments: brightness/contrast- but reducing either just created a grey blot with a distinct "border".
Is there another PAINT.NET trick of the trade similar to "redeye removal" that can disguise these glares please, because I am sure this comes up quite often?
I attach a jpg file of a crop of the problem.

how do you get similar color for objects in different pictures.
I have a prodject that i'm working on and i need to edit several images at once (preferabley) so that they are the same color. They are wooden cupboards and i need all the wood looking the same colour. In light room you can edit a group of images at the same time hence the colours are the same . Is this possible in Elements ? If so how do i do this ?
I have tried duplicating layers and it just replaces the whole image, it seems to work using levels layers but not the other layers ... I have 30 more images to do and would ideally not like to adjust all the images manually ? I dont mind doing minor tweaks. Essentially all the images where taken with the same camera and lighting and lens's ...

Reference tutorial=> Remove Photo Backgrounds with the Background Eraser {URL]
a) I follow the tutorial above to remove backgrounds. However, the background has similar color than picture (in this case "white" - picture attached - FIG_2). So, when I use "background eraser" tool, it erase part of my picture as well. So, how to handle it properly?
b) The tutorial was usefull to other image that has different backgound color (FIG_3 attached). But using other software (Gimp) I could just take the transparency index (color=> color to alfa) with "one click" without the request of erase background manually. So, is there any similar way to do it easily in Paint Shop?

How I could make like a spiral/circle gradient(not sure if that's correct...)? Say you have a circle with 1 quarter cut out(bottom right)like this image:
How would I make a white to black gradient following the red path from point A to B? I'm not sure how I would do this.
P.S: I'm needing this for a game I'm making in Unity3D, it's sorta like Jak and Daxter's eco meter.

When I click, using the gradient tool, a nub appears and no color appears. As I drag my mouse, the first nub remains and a second nub appears, following the cursor. At no time does the gradient itself appear. I've tried rebooting the program. it doesn't work. I've never had this problem before using the gradient tool.

I'm trying to paint a gradient into some shapes but after a few seconds of painting, the brush stops responding and i have to release it to let it make it's mark. As i'm painting a gradient, when i start painting again it covers it with a new version of the gradient instead of blending the 2 together which is clearly not the effect i'm after and not a result that is of any use.
Is there a way of getting all paint strokes to blend so i can fill the whole area with the gradient as there is no other way of filling this area with it.

I was reading a tutorial on Photoshop about using a gradient map on a brush (the case in point was of drawing fire, with four colours, black, red yallow and white, making up the gradient map) such that you'd paint just once to get all four colours from each brush stroke. Here is an example. I was wondering how to do that in PSP X3 Ultimate. I am not new to PSP but I never used the more complicated brush features. Scripting doesn't scare me too much, if it comes to that, but I'd prefer a manual approach.

I am wondering why the gradients that paint.net generate look so dull, and i've experimented with creating the gradient by just filling two colors and then applying gaussian blur. Is there a reason why the gradient looks dull? and is there already a tool for creating a gradient like a gaussian blur provides?
it looks like the gradient tool creates a lot of "in between" color, in my example gray. I've attached an example. The gradient is on the left, gaussian blur on the right.

I want to create a gradient fill, top to bottom of some text.To do this, I'm creating my text in a solid colour (can't seem to find a gradient fill on the text tool), then wand selecting the background inverting the selection then applying a gradient.
Unfortunately, applying the fill seems to make the text lose all smoothness (anti-aliasing?).I've tried feathering (using Boltbait) but even at 1 it's too aggressive and the text ends up too skinny.
How to maintain the anti-aliasing but also have a gradient.

So I decided to figure out how to create a random noise map type thing in paint.net. I somewhat used a tutorial, but basically I posterized cloud rendering.
However, Now I want to change the color based on a gradient through the middle. (horizontal.) I can figure out how to set up a gradient and change its properties in a different layer.
Also I have troubles getting plugins to work for some reason. Tried one for tiling but it brought up a stupid downloader that didn't show me the text.
EDIT: Color=Hue.
