View 1 Repliesworking on a file, a sketch saved it and opened it many many times with no problems 3 days ago i looked for it but i cant seem to find it on my computer at all.i used a file recovery program just to get it back on my computer.but its now corrupted (could not complete request beacues its not a valid photoshop dcoument) .
Â
tryed many ways to fix it its not working. im ready to try anything just tell me !i don't care if i cant edit or open the file on photoshop all i want is to be able to view it i just want to see it again! thats it.
While working on my Mac on a PBS file (just over 3GBs) it crashed while saving. Now when I open the file, it's a mesh of colors on the screen and only 1 layer and is now only 1.5GB. The file is stored on a WD Myworldbook and I have looked for a way to restore previous files but doesn't seem to be an option. There was no backup file made.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had spent my artwork for many days with so many effort and time, and it has been corrupted after a computer crash (not PSD crash). I am using Windows 7.
Â
-What happened after: 1 black layer (around 59 MB)
-What happened before: Had multiple saves, 15+ layers (so why it is not back to the latest save?)
Â
I tried: Previews in PSD, Bridge, using recovery programs (none worked), hex editor, searched for temp./restore previous version files (none) how to recover this file.
My computer crashed today while photoshop CS5.1 was saving/writing to a psd file. When I started my computer back up, and tried to open the file again, It only displayed 1 layer shown as a corrupted image (As Shown Below - the Red Image). When I click on the file in the "Open" window (The Gray Image Below), the psd shows up correctly in the Preview window but doesnt show correctly when opened.
I have lost all of my layers, by the way I have worked on this psd for weeks and I need some way to recover it. I have tried "corrupted psd recovery programs", they did not work. I have tried forums - I found no answer. I have tried locating the .tmp file but it is no where to be found.
Does photoshop have a cache or a history? maybe for previously saved versions of psd files? Or does Windows 7, 32 Bit have a file recovery method? I have tried a windows 7 recovery method but it only recovers files from previous restore points that may be weeks old. This is very important that I do my best to fix this psd file or at least recover some layers, I have put in too much time and effort.
It happened already twice. I am working in one of my layers, I am changing the levels , the image in that layer gets black. I cant undo or go back in history. In the history pallette the original picture at the top goes black. If I try to save, all the layers get corrupted, with missing arbitrary squares in all of them. The first time it happens the missing areas where white, the second time they change to black. The top picture in the history pallette maches the black or white color.
The small picture in the icon in my desktop looks normal , but when open is tottally corrupted. If I have other files open, all of them get corrupted also if I tried to save.
today i downloaded gimp 2.8.2 for windows 8, but when i tried to run the installer it downloads halfway and then displays an error message.
it says something in the style of: An error occurred when trying to copy a file. The source file is corrupted.
Update has failed several times. The update log states a file is corrupt and the program needs to be re-installed. How do I do this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter working with a lot of layers, masks and clipping layers my file got corrupted. That happened in the past but I always found a way to fix it buy copying uncorrupted layers to a new file. Most of the time it was just one layer corrupted. But this time is big, it looks like the whole file is corrupted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working on a Photoshop CS4 file last night that was created in CS4 and has only been opened on this machine in CS4. I saved the file and closed Photoshop. When I open the file today, all my layers are gone, flattened into one Background layer, and the image looks like colored TV static. On top of that, the separate, older version of this file with a different name (created earlier in the week on the same machine in the same CS4) will not open at all - I get the error message, "Could not complete your request because the file is empty" and the file size has mysteriously shrunk to 76 KB from 20+ MB. What happened?! I'm guessing these files are corrupted beyond recovery, but why and how did this happen?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a PSD file that became corrupted when the power went out in the house while in the middle of saving the the file. The PSD file itself is corrupted.
When I load it it says "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered." I have tried all sorts of PDS recovering programs and none could get the file recovered except for a BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
When I load up photoshop 5.0 and go to select the corrupted psd file, there thumbnail DOES show up perfectly fine. However I cannot remotely see it in details because it's TINY.. Like 1/16" x 3" high.
Is there ANYWAY.. with ANY PROGRAM that will actually extract that thumbnail? All the ones I've tried online or downloaded extracts the thumbnail as just one BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
I'd like to extract the thumbnail and have it LARGER so I can actually VIEW the contents.
The preview of the picture still appears when I select it in Photoshop, and even appears for a few seconds in Adobe Bridge before going back to black. But nothing I tried, from restore plug ins to online retrieve systems (that tried to bring back individual layers, only accounting to a single black layer and a bunch of blank ones) worked. I'd really like to get the picture back, or at least a png of it, but I'm at loss for what to try next. I use Cs5.1 64 bits.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOdd, and infuriating, problem. PS CS 5.5, Mac OSX 7.3 'Lion'.I was working on three small, not-complex PSD files. Each had been opened, saved, closed, reopened successfully several times.
Â
When loading some .AI artwork to rasterize, Photoshop CS 5.5 got hung up on the open-file dialog box. I got the spinning beachball. Not only did PS stop responding to any input, but the entire Finder did - and eventually even the mouse cursor wouldn't move. I had to force a shutdown and reboot of the Mac.
Â
When I got my system back up and running, I could no longer load those three files. Every time I try to load them, I get this error:'Could not complete your request because the file is empty.'
Â
Acorn, Pixelmator, and Preview also fail to load the files. Preview tells me they're corrupted. Acorn and Pixelmator report unknown errors.Only one of those three fiels was actually open when Photoshop froze. Yet all three files have been affected.Their filesize on disk is non-zero - 70, 105, and 70 KB (small files, I know - 300 x 250 pixels, and again, not complex).
Â
Duplicating the files doesn't work. Copying them to another volume doesn't work. They appear to be completely, permanently destoryed. Their thumbnails render in Finder, but the files refuse to open.Again, the files arenot huge, but they represent half a day's work.
I've got a project file that I've been working on for a few weeks. I made a couple of changes to it today and now it will not play through completely. It stalls right at the same spot each time and no matter what I delete in the project (trying to remove the offending element) it still stalls. What I mean by stall is that the player stops and the play button reappears. if I press play again, it plays a few frames and stops.
I'm using VideoStudio 4.
Any "fix" for issues with Corel PDF import "the file is corrupted" error? We do custom apparel and recently added an on-line design tool that exports in PDF. Corel cannot read the files so we are forced to import into AI then expert as an AI file to import into Corel. I am at the point where I believe if there was a book written with all the quirks of X5 it would be a telephone book in size.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got this message when trying to load a WIP file: "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
Â
I've searched the forums as well as on other sources on how to deal with it. So far I've tried:
Â
1. Check files on AutoSave folder. No luck. All 5 files gave the same message
2. Fix XML with XML wrench. Tried the "Check is Well Formed" & "Check is Valid" and both said ok"
3. Restarted PC. Same thing.
4. Move project and working files to other folders - same.
5. Created a blank project and tried to import sequence - no sequence show up.
6. Import from After Effects and Exported - no luck as well. Came up with a message saying there's no valid sequence.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this happens sometimes when a file won't open after saving and closing it. Usually I can open the backup file with just some lost work, but not this time. Problem is this time it happened with a file I spend a long time working on. I tried unzipping and opening riffData.cdr with no luck. I've uploaded the file. It is a complex drawing with over 20 pages including vector and bitmap objects.

I have a problem with the Illustrator file I was working on. I cannot open it, and the icon of the file is a bit opaque with a grey cross. If I try to move it, a message says that the file is unavailable. But still is not an empty file. This is the property window:
Also, I stopped working around 01.00, so I don't know why the last access is at 02.36.

Is there any way to recover the information?
In Photoshop CS6 (64 bit) when I open a new file, the background shows a gradient. No matter what I do or try, there is a gradient from top to bottom in the file.
Even though I select to change to one even color. No matter what layer I place o top or change, it shows the gradient. Some settings somewhere must cause this but I am unable to find out where or how. How do I get it back to default settings?
need to store the Pantone Color information in TIFF format, this is possible in Eps format. We have tried creating a box with a gradient and done a "saveas" to TIFF format, we found that the pantone color information is converted to CMYK, instead of the pantone.
I can create a layer and put a gradient directly on the layer. Or I can create a gradient via an effect (this seems to hold true for lots of things). It seems easier, at least for a newbie to be working with effects in that they can be edited or adjusted. When I drop a gradient directly on the layer, unlese I'm doing something wrong, the only way I can alter it is to delete it and then reapply a new layer. If my understanding is correct, here's my question. I want to have as small of png files for a web site as possible for typical reasons. Does the method used to apply the gradient have any impact on the PNG file size?
