Paint.NET :: Color Matching / Adjusting Between Photos?

Nov 14, 2011

I am trying to adjust the color levels between two photos such that a certain object in both photos has the same color in both images. I'll try and explain more with an example...

I've got two images taken under similar lighting conditions with the same camera and settings that came out with slightly different colors. There is a reference object in each photo that should match (in this case, a grey square of a paint sample). I'd like to adjust the color of the square in photo 2 so that it matches the square in photo 1, with the adjustments applied to the entirety of photo 2.

Photoshop :: Color Matching Similar Photos

Apr 27, 2005

I used the FAQ section but nothing seemed to come up.

Basically I have 3 digital photos that are part of a panorama. After I load them into PS, there is a slight color imbalance between each of them, eg the sky in one is a bit more yellow looking than one of the others. So the question is, is there an easy way to select a photo and "color balance" it to match another, similar, image?

I'm using PS v7. I've heard that CS has Image-Adjustments-Match Color.

Paint.NET :: Underwater Pictures - Adjusting Color Levels

Jul 23, 2011

I take a lot of underwater pictures usually quite badly . I am looking for adjusting the color levels.

I am guessing I have to create layers to adjust them properly as just fiddling with the Red on the main image isn't really giving me great results.

I've got a series of photos (my wedding photos actually) that need color, contrast and brightness adjusting. The problem is that the photos were taken under a tree so the lightning was partly shady, partly bright and with different photos being shot at slightly different locations and positions I get hughly varying results when adjusting the photos individually.

way to adjust a series of photos so that the contrast, brightness, etc settings will turn out the same across a whole series of photos?

Photoshop :: Matching Transparent Color To Solid Color

Oct 9, 2008

I have a solid green rectangle.

I would like to create several similar green rectangles at various levels of transparency that will perfectly match the color of the solid green rectangle. Is there an easy way to do this?

I have tried matching it by eye, and can get very close:

the original solid green rectangle is R:135 G: 174 B: 155

after making a copy of the solid green rectangle, say, 90% transparent, I can play with Hue/Saturation to get around R:136 G:175 B: 154, according to the eyedropper. But I don't see any way of fine tuning the RGB/HSB/etc. absolute values in the transparent version.

Photoshop :: Matching Tone Or Hue From Two Very Different Photos

Oct 21, 2013

I was asked to take the group photo, cut out the black girl, and insert the young man.  See all images below and my results.  the only thing I'm not happy with is the young man was better lit than the group one.  I was playing around with the controls of the young man to bring his tone more in line with the group (hue; saturation; color levels; etc.) and I just could not figure it out.

what I can do to get the young man to match up tone wise with the group?  Or vice versa, even?

Paint Shop Pro :: Getting Color Bars Across Photos

May 8, 2013

I am having a rather strange problem with PSP X14. I will describe my general workflow and where the problem occurs.

I do some editing to my photo and save it as a full size image. Next I resize it to a much smaller version for use online. I have no problems at all with these two steps. Next, I cancel the resized dimensions and resize it again to a file closer to the original size, after I sometimes sharpen it and add a canvas. Many of the thumbnails for this last step have horizontal color bars across the bottom of the thumbnail, ranging roughly from 1/16 to 1/3 of the image size. When I hit on it and open the file, the bar is not there. I tried opening this thumbnail in another photo editing program and when I have access to the thumbnails for opening, that bar is there on select images, and when I open the file, it's gone. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to try printing it yet.

I've been following this basic formula for preparing and editing photos for a very long time and haven't had this problem until recently. And it's random, as not all images have this problem. I tried changing this process and reopening the full size file that has been edited and resize that one, but am getting the same random results. I have no problems with the thumbnails for the full size and the first reduced size images.

I have been a long time user of PSP...since v.7 and upgrade versions regularly. I'm running Windows 7 premium, 64-bit on a laptop with an Intel i-7 processor.

VideoStudio :: Adjusting Photos For Video Use (pixel Aspect Ratio)

Mar 1, 2012

I have VS X2 and I want to put some photos into a video I'm making.

I have video from a Panasonic PV-GS200 which gives a 24 bit, 720x480 AVI file. I have the Project Properties set to:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 4:3, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1

And the Preferences for Image set to "Keep aspect ratio".

I have a small handbook from Ulead (from 2004 when I purchased video gear) which says that the pixel aspect ratio of DV is rectangular whereas the pixels in my photos are square. And this difference will cause photographs to become distorted as those square photo pixels are stretched to become rectangular pixels in the video.

My question is: do I need to crop my photograph correctly before I insert it into the timeline in VS X2, or is there an option/feature within VS which will handle this transformation for me?

Here is how the book says to crop photos:
for 720x480 NTSC-DV crop photos to 720x576
for 720x576 PAL-DV crop photos to 704x576

It further recommended using PNG file type for photos and to keep the image dimension (resolution) low, e.g. 720x576, in order to avoid artifacts in the video - only doubling the above crop dimensions if a pan & zoom filter are going to be employed. An image dimension of 720x576 seems really low to me but I am not used to working with video.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6 :: How To Color Balance Two Photos To Match

Dec 10, 2013

I've got two different color balance problems. The first is where I have two photos that I want to match the lighting in each.

The second is where I have a 'control' and I want another photo or print to 'match' it.

Currently I'm having the second problem. A customer brought in an original painting for us to scan and make holiday cards from. But they also brought in a photo print from a local chain and they have asked me to match the color representation from that print.

It is duller, the blues are purple and it is over all darker. Personally, I think the photo is a horrible representation of the painting. BUT IT IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS.

I've scanned in both the photo and the original drawing. If I print the photo it matches the color of the scan. (but is the wrong crop size and can't be used for the card.)  How do I draw color out of that and get my original to 'match' other than just using my eyes? (which is about impossible for me today) I normally use 'sample/target balance' in corel PhotoPaint, but you can't do that between two layers OR between two files. This would be a great change to make in x7 or an update.

Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6

Paint Shop Pro :: Adjusting Old Map

Jun 8, 2012

I have a jpg file of a very old Parish Map downloaded from web. It is unfortunately very low resolution with light cream background and faded printed information. Also the center of the relevant area has been colored deep red. Which tool should I use to enhance the printing? I have been experimenting with Lighten/Darken and also the Dodge brush but obviously not using them correctly.

One pass gives me some improvement but further passes turn everything white. There is very little difference in color between the background and the printed matter which I think was originally black.

Photoshop :: How To Stop ACR From Adjusting Color

Aug 31, 2012

I started noticing this problem a while back in CS5 and it seems to be ongoing in CS6. When I have a group of rows open in ACR, I can make adjustments as normal. Lets say that I have a bracket of images I shot of 10 frames.

I make adjustments on the ones I want to use, rate them and use the "select rated" button. If one of those images has a different color balance than the others, it will auto adjust it to match the rest. If the image that is viewable is the one with the different color balance, it will auto adjust the rest of them.

Photoshop :: Adjusting Color Backgrounds

Adjusting color backgrounds. I have a large number of images of fly-fishing flies which were photographed on not-quite-solid backgrounds of slightly differing colors. I'd like to efficiently adjust the backgrounds so they all appear roughly the same without affecting the flies themselves. The flies are hard to select because of their feathery, hair-like edges, and the backgrounds are hard to select because they have slight gradations of almost-solid colors.

Photoshop :: Color Matching To 100%

Nov 26, 2012

Let's say I have two pictures. The first one is a RAW file and the second is the same file, but a flat PSD with some color and contrast moves done to it.

What I want to do is to (of course start with processing the RAW file so I have a PSD/tiff) and then I would like to match the colors to 100%.

Usually I would do this by eye, but I would like to find out if there's any quicker way to do it? I started to look in to the color sampler tool to get the different values.

Preferably I would also like to have all these color and contrast moves in layers if possible. So that I can adjust them if I want.

---------------------------------

The second question is basically the same but this time the reference photo is a different picture.

Photoshop :: Color Matching

Feb 27, 2004

I have been working on a gag project that involves placing different co-worker heads on different bodies. However, I have been having some difficulty matching the skin tones. I thought it would simply be a matter of using the eye-dropper tool, getting some average values on the face and body, then using an adjustment layer grouped to the face layer to adjust the color.

However, my results are often not even close. Is there a particular way I'm supposed to be adjusting the color?

Photoshop :: Color Matching

Jun 8, 2006

I travel around the country and use Photoshop for various projects. I then SAVE AS a TIFF file to my flash drive and take the flash drive to an office superstore (OfficeMax, Staples, Kinkos, etc.) to print on their color printers. I run into a variety of printers, but mostly Xerox DocuColor 250's or Docucolor 12's.

How can I set my Photoshop so that the colors that print on these Docucolor printers are closer to what I see on my screen? I'm already creating the documents in 300DPI, CYMK-8 mode to be as close to the printer as possible.

Photoshop :: Adjusting The Color Of Little Girl's Nose

Anyway, my question is what techniques/tools can I use to get the coloring on her nose to match that of the rest of her face? [she'd been crying ] I thought the 'Healing Brush Tool' might be useful but when I tried that, it didn't go well!
