Photoshop :: Automatically Adjusting Gradient Layer
Jun 10, 2007I found a photoshop file somewhere on the net and the really fascinating ting about it was one of its gradient layers. I has a behavior I have never come across yet, because whenever you remove certain parts of the layer mask, i.e. paint the bottom half black for example, photoshop adjusts the gradient to the remaining opaque part of the layer.

Aug 31, 2012I started noticing this problem a while back in CS5 and it seems to be ongoing in CS6. When I have a group of rows open in ACR, I can make adjustments as normal. Lets say that I have a bracket of images I shot of 10 frames.
I make adjustments on the ones I want to use, rate them and use the "select rated" button. If one of those images has a different color balance than the others, it will auto adjust it to match the rest. If the image that is viewable is the one with the different color balance, it will auto adjust the rest of them.

Jan 8, 2013Adjusting color backgrounds. I have a large number of images of fly-fishing flies which were photographed on not-quite-solid backgrounds of slightly differing colors. I'd like to efficiently adjust the backgrounds so they all appear roughly the same without affecting the flies themselves. The flies are hard to select because of their feathery, hair-like edges, and the backgrounds are hard to select because they have slight gradations of almost-solid colors.

Aug 2, 2012I have a duotone image (warm grey and black) as an eps in photosho linked to Illustrator file. I need to be able to adjust each color as needed in photoshop. It is already setup as a duotone image and correctly separates in illustrator. I can do overall adjustments as needed but I would like to be able to throw a curve/adjust each color on it's own as needed in photoshop, and then relink.

Anyway, my question is what techniques/tools can I use to get the coloring on her nose to match that of the rest of her face? [she'd been crying ] I thought the 'Healing Brush Tool' might be useful but when I tried that, it didn't go well!

May 23, 2012After using Refine Edge in CS5.5 and removing the background from an image, I set it to output as a new layer mask. Next I place the image on top of a background and see that it needs some additional adjustments. How do I now get back to the Refine Edge window where I can see the changes I made previously and modify some of the settings? When I reopen the Refine Edge window the settings from before are no longer there.

I've got two images taken under similar lighting conditions with the same camera and settings that came out with slightly different colors. There is a reference object in each photo that should match (in this case, a grey square of a paint sample). I'd like to adjust the color of the square in photo 2 so that it matches the square in photo 1, with the adjustments applied to the entirety of photo 2.

Dec 20, 2011I created a image (with blank background) with dimensions 640 x 480 (its my default working image).
I have copied photograph with dimensions 7300 x 4200 and pasted as new layer on the image (640 x 480). Obviously, the pasted photograph is bigger and it couldn't be showed totally. I am adjusting the size of the photograph manually, dragging and dropping its corner lots of time.
I tried to use "image => resize" / "image => canvas size". But it just act on my default image (640 x 480), not the photograph (even when its layer is selected).
So, is there any way of resize the photograph automatically to fit in the default image (640 x 480)?

I am guessing I have to create layers to adjust them properly as just fiddling with the Red on the main image isn't really giving me great results.

Dec 17, 2011I found out that there is a way to show clipping areas in Photoshop when adjusting levels via an adjustment layer. While moving the slider, you hold down the ALT key.
I tried this in PSP X3 and it does not work. Any feature for seeing the clipping preview is available in Paint Shop Pro? It's a nice feature.

Oct 4, 2013What I'd like to do is adjust the color and brightness/contrast of many layers of an animation. Now, for a still image with many layers I know you can generally add a partially transparent layer over the whole thing, however, since it's an animated .gif I have to do the same thing to each individual layer. I could probably go through and do it by hand and just get it over with. But, I'm curious if there's a feature for this, or is there a plugin that can repeat actions for multiple layers?

May 29, 2013I want to color a photo of a brown leather shoe by switching on a color layer under it. I need this because a website script works with 2 separate images/layers. The top layer must be a transparent png of the image (the brown shoe) and the layer under this is a solid color (or more colors). This way you can color a shoe by clicking a button on the webpage.
I tried it using a white shoe on a layer, setting the opacity to 80%, than I used 'Select Color Range' to select the leather of the shoe, than I deleted this selection. This way the shoe keeps the leather look but is kind of transparent. A colored layer under it 'paints' the shoe while you still see the leather texture on it.

Is there a way of converting the RGB values (or CMYK values) from the swatch that is not trial and error that will tell me where to set the 3 color balance sliders to match the swatch color?
