Photoshop :: Reversed B&W Adjustment Layer / Export Color Channel To Layer
Mar 1, 2012What I want to do is to have an adjustment layer that is a reversed, black and white image. I initially thought to merge B&W and reverse adjustment layers, but read that an adjustment layer may not be the target of a merge. Is the way to accomplish this to fiddle with the B&W adjustment layer sliders somehow?
I like how the black and white displayed image of a given color channel looks, how can I export that channel into a layer?

May 29, 2013I want to color a photo of a brown leather shoe by switching on a color layer under it. I need this because a website script works with 2 separate images/layers. The top layer must be a transparent png of the image (the brown shoe) and the layer under this is a solid color (or more colors). This way you can color a shoe by clicking a button on the webpage.
I tried it using a white shoe on a layer, setting the opacity to 80%, than I used 'Select Color Range' to select the leather of the shoe, than I deleted this selection. This way the shoe keeps the leather look but is kind of transparent. A colored layer under it 'paints' the shoe while you still see the leather texture on it.

Mar 24, 2013I want to use a color balance layer with a vector mask to change the color of a shirt to come as close as possible to matching a particular color swatch. So, say the color swatch is RGB, 101, 164, 33
The color balance has the 3 sliders and I can adjust:
cyan -> red
magenta -> green
yellow -> blue
Is there a way of converting the RGB values (or CMYK values) from the swatch that is not trial and error that will tell me where to set the 3 color balance sliders to match the swatch color?

However, if I then bring in and place a second image into photoshop, so that now I have two layers that I'm working on, the eyedropper will not select any color on that new image. They are each grayed out and I'm only given the option to apply the setting overall. I'm thinking I must have made some kind of setting change somewhere for this to happen.

Jan 17, 2013I need to create a bleed around an object that is cut out on it's own layer. Basically I need a shape burst... the edge pixels expanding outward away from the layer. I know I could enlarge the layer but that doesn't work with more complex shapes. And I don't want to use the rubber stamp tool. I have lots of images to do. The end result does not need to be detailed at all, it will be blurred. How to create this other than rubber stamp?

May 24, 2012I have a question about color balance. It seems it's the only one that the drag and drop doesn't work. It's my pc , or is the default?
I added 2 screenshots. i added a red arrow to let you see the mouse pointer in the first screenshot i can drag and drop (i'm not talking about the sliders) in the second screenshot , ONLY color balance (and it's very WEIRD ) i can not drag and drop.

I use the Rectangle to cover transparent layer. It fills the color with Grey. The color that is selected in the little box at the bottom of my tool bar.I go to change the color and want to fill the color or change it to say Blue... It won't. What step am I missing to do such an easy thing?

May 1, 2006I'd like to add some color to the outlines in the attachment. Right now they have some white background to them so I've got the blend mode set to multiply which works great since they're greyscale. I've tried duplicating one of the channels and creating a selection and/or layer mask from it with not much luck. I tried setting a layer mask and then filling the whole layer with the color I want but it didn't show up at all. I also tried filling the selection with the color I want which worked ok except the layer still has a bunch of white and if I leave the blend mode at multiply the color doesn't show up well.

AND, by holding some combination of shift/ctrl/alt and clicking the color sample, the values would transfer to the red,green, and blue layers of my curves layer. From there I could make adjustments...
In CS4 I'm trying to do this, and I can't get it to work... It isn't the same as using the eyedroppers on the curve OR the hand above the eyedroppers. It actually copied the color sample values onto the individual color channels.....
How do I do this in CS4?
