Dec 16, 2006I am doing a project and I'm wondering how to remove the color from only a layer and not the image, which you do by going to image:mode:grayscale.

View 2 Repliesas an alternative to using the magic wand to remove a color to transparency (which leaves fine detail, say in a line drawing, in a very sorry state) i saw someone use the multiply function in layer options to remove all white from a greyscale image leaving black lines over transparency. neat,

I'm talking hundreds of areas, which I could go and individually select them all, but I was wondering if there was a way to use something like the Selective color tool, but instead of replacing the color with another color, to replace it with the clear background.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an image of a dog on a white background. I've tried several methods to remove the white background, but the dog is a beagle and has some white fur. There are places where it is almost indistinguishable where the fir ends and the background begins (on his neck). What is the best method to remove the background?
While I've used Photoshop a lot, I am not formally trained, so need input on what tolerance levels, etc. should probably be. I've inserted the image. Haven't purchased it yet because I'm not confident I'm going to be able to remove the background.
I want to color a photo of a brown leather shoe by switching on a color layer under it. I need this because a website script works with 2 separate images/layers. The top layer must be a transparent png of the image (the brown shoe) and the layer under this is a solid color (or more colors). This way you can color a shoe by clicking a button on the webpage.
I tried it using a white shoe on a layer, setting the opacity to 80%, than I used 'Select Color Range' to select the leather of the shoe, than I deleted this selection. This way the shoe keeps the leather look but is kind of transparent. A colored layer under it 'paints' the shoe while you still see the leather texture on it.
The attached image has transparencythat I don't want.
What I would like to do is eliminate all transparency from the image so that I can then use the eraser tool to make transparent the areas that I want transparent.
I can't figure out how to remove all transparency from the image / layer. I'm new to paint.net, it may be obvious to others how to do this but not to me
The layer properties (where I thought I'd fix this) show opacity 255 now but the image still has unwanted transparency.

I have a few images that I have saved from online that have an alpha layer in them. When I open them in GIMP, the checkerboard pattern makes it far too difficult to edit the image. When I try any of the obvious options for removing the alpha layer, the result looks awful.
How do I remove an alpha layer without changing the way that an image looks when it's viewed in an image viewer (or GIMP)?
I have Pro7 and I am trying to edit a graphic. I want to remove the background color (white), or pop out an image.
In my old program (not xara) I could just click on the area/color, it turn pink and then click finish it would erase. Is that possible with this program?
I remember seeing a post about a plugin which allows you to remove the background from an image...
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the plugin....
Or if you can point me to a Tutorial that deals specifically with removing a background colour from a complicated image i.e. an image with a complicated outline...
I have an image, all black of a ballerina on one layer, with black text on another. I am trying to put a bouquet of red roses at her feet, but it turns shades of grey when I attempt to do that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot stand it when I make a new layer in Illustrator and the color hint becomes yellow. This usually happens on the third new layer into every project. I can go in and manually change it from yellow to the ten plus other colors, but I just want yellow completely out of the list. It's awful to look at, and I think every other color is easier.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of prepping individual components of a design for Flash animation. I'm trying to apply a layer of #7C6844 with the color effect at 56% opacity and a layer of #999999 with the color burn effect at 12% opacity to the foreground image which has a transparent background. This task has proved to be rather impossible for me, but it seems like there should be a way to do it. I would use the wand tool > select inverse and apply the colors over top that way, but the foreground image has a lot of leaves and branches, so that method would be extremely tedious.
Is there a way I can select the entire image as a whole and leave out the background?
I'll attach the image and the desired result to further assist.
What I want to do is to have an adjustment layer that is a reversed, black and white image. I initially thought to merge B&W and reverse adjustment layers, but read that an adjustment layer may not be the target of a merge. Is the way to accomplish this to fiddle with the B&W adjustment layer sliders somehow?
I like how the black and white displayed image of a given color channel looks, how can I export that channel into a layer?
can remove 1 pixel from all around the layer using ctrl + something, but I cant remember which book it was, and I cant find info on this online.
This feature is really handy when you are cutting a piece out of a picture with busy background.
After applying a filter to a layer how do you remove it? Currently I have applied color halftone however I want to remove it but can't find how to.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a site and the owner wants a new nav bar button. I opened one of the existing buttons in PS, it has a slight gradient background and the text is typed right on the background so I can't find a way to edit it (it's not on a separate layer), and so if I just erase the text it messes up the background.
How can one do this?
I'm using Photoshop CC and I can't remove, disable or rasterize a vector mask that is applied to a fill or gradient layer.
Am I missing something?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to select a specific color from within the image, and change all similar colors within that image to a different color. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?

I want to use a color balance layer with a vector mask to change the color of a shirt to come as close as possible to matching a particular color swatch. So, say the color swatch is RGB, 101, 164, 33
The color balance has the 3 sliders and I can adjust:
cyan -> red
magenta -> green
yellow -> blue
Is there a way of converting the RGB values (or CMYK values) from the swatch that is not trial and error that will tell me where to set the 3 color balance sliders to match the swatch color?
I was just wondering as to whether its possible to keep the checkered base which you get when you remove part of an image or have it transparent to stay in the created image.
I am sure you all know this.
Here is the YouTube background which I have created and wondering if I am able to keep the checkered base or whatever in the image after I have saved it rather than print screening and pasting it back like a jigsaw puzzle.
