Jun 4, 2012I scaned an iron on pattern. Now I want to remove the background color which is white. I thought I could use the magic eraser tool. It does a good job for most of the project, but I have to click on every small area. The reason that I want to do this is to being able to print on any color card stock. There are places where it is almost indistinguishable where the fir ends and the background begins (on his neck). What is the best method to remove the background?
While I've used Photoshop a lot, I am not formally trained, so need input on what tolerance levels, etc. should probably be. I've inserted the image. Haven't purchased it yet because I'm not confident I'm going to be able to remove the background.
Photoshop :: Batch / Automate Remove Color From Images
Jun 9, 2012I would like to remove a very specific bold yellow from some images. I want to automate this by throwing this into photoshop's automate tool and running over hundreds and hundreds of images. I have no problem creating the macro, the problem is that my image doesn't contain this yellow color (some of them do not), the 'select' action doesn't work so any subsequent actions fail.
What I have tried:
* Select the color and fill with white. If the color doesn't exist, the entire image gets filled.
* Select the color and cut, then replace background layer with plain white -- If the color doesn't exist, get error that 'cut' action isn't available.
* Force a yellow stroke somewhere on the image to try and remove it later -- Can't record brush strokes with PS!!!
Are their 'conditional' actions? There must be a way to do this, but I can't bring up anything on the web.

Aug 9, 2004I'm working on a project with simple black lines (curves and geometric shapes) and bold reds, but I'd like to be able to remove the color values so the image is a simple black-and-white outline (think coloring book style ~ I'd like a template to use with other colors down the road). But... having mediocre skills with the program, I'm not sure how to do it. I've tried using the paint bucket features, just filling in the colored areas with white, but I find that depletes the black outlines or makes them jagged -- or worse, they find breaks and the color leaks out. I've tried using the magic wand to select only the colored area, then filling it with white to avoid ruining the outline, but then there is a oh-so-faint (but bothersome to me) ring of red around the black outline. So, I'm thinking, this is such a versatile program that there's got to be a way to manipulate the image to remove the red without compromising the quality of the lines...
I've attached a little snippet of a bit of the image I'm working with so you can get an idea of the "mechanics" (for lack of a better term) of the picture. Also FYI: The outline thicknesses vary between 3 and 6 pixels with thicker "curls" at the end (I'd guess the thickest would be 12-15 pixels wide) and are all done with the pen tool.

Image>Adjustments>Threshold for this purpose?
Do these all generally do the same thing, or would one of these result in a better job of turning my image to black and white with higher contrast?

What I want is to remove all the red stuff and text and be left only with the girl on a white background
I know how to remove all the stuff around the girl, because the background is white and that is simple (Select everything, replace with white, done).
My problem is with the huge "GE" over her hand, shoulder, and hair. How would I go about removing that red part and being left with a good-looking picture without the huge "GE"? I tried decomposing the (red) colors, selecting the red color and making it transparent, and many more things in the Colors drop-menu but I always ended up with some weird results far from what I have in mind. I also tried the Resynthesizer to smart fill but it filled with white
Put simply, is there a way to somewhat "pick" the colors that are "behind" the huge red GE and just remove the red component from them? I guess I could just delete the huge red GE and draw what's missing but I'm not so good at drawing and this picture is very well drawn and high quality and I know I couldn't match this.

Aug 22, 2012I have been unable to remove a color after it has been applied to a node. Despite the "X" that show up in the color palette, clicking it does not remove the color. The only way to remove a color is to set the node's transparency to 100%, and the color will still show as the node's color in the mesh fill property bar. The color will appear to have been removed, but when clicking on the node again, the color come back.
The bug manifests itself in different ways depending on what color is selected. If the "X" is picked from the color palette floating/docked menu to remove color, nothing happens. Is it is picked from the Mesh Fill color drop down window from the context menu it will temporarily appear int he property bar.
In other object fills, you can select the "X" to remove the fill. I that something one ca't do in a mesh and one needs to color pick the background or set a default color for?

Oct 28, 2013I have a brother printer that no longer prints the magenta ink. I have tried and tried to fix it, and cannot figure it out. So, Since i would like to continue using the printer, and still need to print in color, I was hoping maybe there would be a way to remove the red from a picture before i color it.
Now, i understand it is more complicated than just finding all the red in a photo and simply removing it or changing the color. Any color that the printer needs Magenta ink to print is going to come out funny, unless I can find a way to change any color that would require the magenta ink.

Background is a material so it's not all perfectly the same color, very slight different shades of blue in the picture. The tutorials say outline it but this is a circular metal object. I tried using the circle tool but I can't get it exact and there seems to be no way to select a circle.
