Mudbox :: Unable To Transfer UVs

I am working on a personal project and any time I try to detail and texture my character in mudbox, I get no UVs showing in mudbox even tough I have projected UVs in maya before exporting.

I was wondering if it is possible use transfer details but just for some parts of the model, because sometimes you have parts that you don't want to affect the projection. I tried with freeze but doesn't work.

Mudbox :: Transfer Detail Warning

I'm transferring from a high poly source model (5million polys) onto a target model that has 3 levels, no layers. At level 3 its pretty much the same polcount.

Whenever I transfer it come sup with a Transfer Detail warning saying that the target model appears to have more detail than the source and do I want to continue or swap. Surely the source model will have more detail, and I shouldn't get the warning ? I get this warning even I transfer from the source to lvl1 (much lower etc)

Is it possible to transfer pose bones(weights) from one Mudbox file to another to use them for another mesh? I can see that one can maybe use .fbx and Maya path but not everyone has Maya or a Maya user.

Maya :: Objects In Mudbox Will Not Transfer To Solid Object

I am having an issue transferring an object I have sculpted in Mudbox, and trying to import it correctly to Maya. In Mudbox, both of my objects show up just fine (don't worry about the UV issue on the face). When I choose to 'send objects to Maya,' the objects display in a new scene, but the hair doesn't show up at all. In the Outliner, Maya displays an empty transform node titled 'hair,' but I can't get it to show up as a solid mesh within the scene.

Am I going to have to remodel the hair in mudbox again and just pray that the model will import to Maya without issues?

Mudbox :: Multi Tiles Texture Extraction And Transfer Detail

Is it possible to selectively extract(apply disp to a mesh) tiles ala cyslice? If not...it would be very useful to have.

In my new little experience with other use of mudbox other that sculpting I still find it somewhat limited compared to cyslice. Also the extraction progress UI is quite buggy to me (at least it looks like it on my machine) as it doesnt update the status...and therefore you would think that the extraction process isnt working, but then, checking the directiory where the files are supposed to be saved, MB is actually doing the job.

And about the transfer detail to a new topology, is it possible to do it selectively? I ve tried to freeze, hide, areas that I dont want to transfer the detail to but nothing..still the whole thing gets transferred.

When I am drawing using the "spline fit" I am unable to transfer my DXF to a laser,water-jet, CNC router etc... Is a spline any differnt than a "line? the yellow will show up on the machine, but the green isn't recognized.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Configure Transfer From Factory Design Suite Group?

I was unable to configure a transfer from Factory Design Suite Group. This is more appropriate here.

Approx August, Inventor 2013 started to randomly crash.

Until then it was working fine.

Service packs & several re-installs have not cured it.

I cannot replicate the process.

I am lucky if I get 20 minutes of operation.

One day it actually ran all day. The next it crashed maybe 20 times.

Several projects have only needed 2D work which works fine but I have run out of time to postpone the Inventor projects.

Mudbox :: Importing The FBX File

I am working with a human body mesh that I made in maya. The model is all quads, and has been sent to maya and exported back to Mudbox using .fbx many times.

The problem is: On my most recent trip from maya 2011 to mudbox 2011 the smooth tool no longer works the same. The tool still smooths but it tries to arrange the quads from my mesh from rectangles to a more diamond & star pattern. When I open a different file everything works like normal.

There are no errors when importing the FBX file, and every other tool works as it should.

I am relatively new to maya, and just self-taught with mudbox, so there is a very good chance that I may have caused the problem, but I cant find any settings that I would have accidentally adjusted and the problem stays with this mesh even if I import it into a different mudbox file.

For all I know it wont effect my final rigging and animation, but Ive never had it happen before on any other model and from how nasty it makes the mesh look I cant imagine it would be good.

I attached a before and after image of what happens when I use the smooth brush.

Mudbox :: Painting And Crashing With Max?

Every time I export a scene from Max, and then use the paint tools, mudbox crashes, literally every single time. I can quite happily use the scuplt tools.

I can also quite happlily use the paint tools as long as mudbox is not connected to 3DS Max.

I have applied both SP1 and SP2 for Mudbox 2012, and max is SP'd aswell.

I've got a good machine, Dell M6500, 12gb RAM, 1gb ATI Gcard, Win7

Mudbox :: Edges Are Not Smooth

I use a stencil just with straigh tlines. When using that stencil on a cube or plane it works like a charme. The edges look smooth and like a perfect cut.
 
The cube below has about 98.000 polys.
 
when I do the same thing on a base shoe model, the edges do not look good anymore.
 
even by increasing the poly count to 4 millions.. the edges are not smooth anymore.
 
I double checked the base geometry of the shoe. it's all in qauds, and the edge flow is very nice done.

- how can I make sure that the lines will appear as smooth and nice like shown on the cube ?

I want to understand the theory behind the workflow between 3dsmax and mudbox.I know that exist 2 workflows:

1- send your low poly obj model from 3dsmax to mudbox, then subdiv the mesh in mudbox and generate the textures and normal map. Finally return to 3dsmax but ONLY use the maps to recreate a high detail model. This is useful when you make video games character or when you animate the model

2- send your low poly obj model from 3dsmax to mudbox, subdiv the mesh, sculpt paint, generate maps and return the HIGH resolution MESH to 3dsmax(return with textures). It works only if you generate still images, not animation.

I installed Mudbox 2012 just a few minutes ago. And almost immediately I ran into this problem. All images of objects in the official Mudbox documentation have a shiny brownish appearance by default. E.g. :

Mudbox :: Baking Displacement Map

I modeled a female body and imported from 3DSMAX to mudbox to texture but now i'm having trouble on baking the displacement map in MUDBOX. I'm using tiff 32 bit floating,7 x 7k, with search distance of 4 (i believe it's a relative good number). My source model is step 0(with about 2 million faces) and the other is step 2(with aprox. 6 million faces). I'm using target to closest model, smoothing only the source and wht i get is this: a big black image with one or another gray dot.

I saw several tutorials about wht might be. I changed several times the search distance, and also tried to bake in max. Nothing seems to work. Mudbox keeps leving me with a blck image and max gives me something strange that works a little as a displacement map but it is totaly untileble.The two images attached are from mudbox. One as i get, and in the other i tried messing with levels in photoshop but it didn't work too.

Mudbox :: 2012 - SP1 Serious Brush Lag

I just update Mudbox 2012 to SP1 and now I get 2~3 seconds delay at end of the every brush stroke.

- I can fix it by uninstalling SP1 (so problem is SP1, please do not blame my hardware or setting)
- No problem with Painting brushes, only Sculpting brushes lag
- Problem is not Pen or Tablet, same happened when I use Mouse
- Problem have nothing to do with mesh density (64.000 poly is nothing!!)
- I remove all settings and setup fresh Mudbox 2012 with SP1, no chance

Mudbox :: Get 2014 Over 2013?

I've been using mudbox 2013 on my machine for the past year.  Mostly for texture painting.  I tried installing 2014 but it doesn't work on opensuse 12.3.  Is there any reason to go to mudbox 2014?  I mostly just use it for texture painting, tried sculpting with it but I felt I was better off using playdough.

I used the automatic UVs in Mudbox for my model and tried extracting an AO map.The quality is set to good though I tried all quality types and for some reason after I extract it and it shows as diffuse on my model the seams are showing.. Edge bleeding is set to 4 and also tried with 5.
