Sep 19, 2013Adjustments I make to images will not stick. I read that this might be because I need to rest my preferences. I can only find a lesson for how to do this for Windows 7 or XP. I have Windows 8 and the directions do not apply as the path does not lead to the folders I need.

Nov 18, 2012Firstly, I cant get the reset preferences window to appear, as isntructed, by holding ctrl/alt/shift down and opening the application - I just get the details of the shortcut. tried on the actual.exe file and still dont get the window as described.
secondly, the hand tool does not seem to work? I select it, the 4 options appear in the tool bar above and the little hand Icon, but clicking and dragging on the file in the open window, has no effect, I cant move the file around the window as I supposed to be able to do.

Feb 29, 2012Every so often I notice that my preferences have been reset. Can't pin down a frequency, but you say every 4-6 months this happens.Documents open in tab form, my scratch drive is now C, and the checked options of S and O drive is gone.

I have not reset the preferences or done any actions or disk clean up operations.Using current version of McAfee Security Center and it does run scans automatically. But it does this frequently so the 4-6 mo. of reset makes this unlikely.

Windows 7 OS and PS 12.0.4.Have noticed this same occurrence for years even with CS3.

Apr 9, 2009I have just upgraded to CS4 and am attempting to get acquainted with the new workspace options. Is there a way to maximize a floating window in Standard Screen Mode without losing the menu and title bars? I figured out how to drag images to CS4 and have them open as floating windows instead of tabs. However, when I maximize one of the images/floating windows, the menu and title bars are left out and are not visible. I would like to set the menu and title bars so that all images appear beneath them whether they or maximized or minimized.

Feb 22, 2012 I was trying to animate my character and when I wanted to change the frame-rate (under Animation Preferences) the error "//Error: Cannot Find Procedure 'preferencesWnd'" came up. I also found that if I just wanted to access Window -> Settings/Preferences -> Preferences the same exact error would appear. I've tried deleting the preferences folder in My Documents to no avail.
Unfortunately any one with a similar issue seems to be dealing with custom scripts. I'm not, I'm just trying to open the preferences window.

 I can't find the "reset setting" button from edit on My maya 2014 software.Â
The reason the tutorial is using the "rest setting" is to adjust the width, height and depth of the cube I have out there by using numbers as its measurement.
I don't know if there are any other buttons that can do the same job, or is there another way to find this button... I can't progress my learning until I know what to do about this.

Then I launched Maya. Â I didn't see the 'bonus tools' menu item up top.
I compared my menu to the one here. The one in the video has it in the top menu, but mine does not.
I found the bonus tools mel script in the shared sub folders for autodesk, so I know it's installed.

Jun 3, 2011About 1 in 3 times I start up Maya 2012, some of the shelves are either missing or are empty. For example, sometimes the "Polygons" shelf is completely missing, or else it is there but its contents are empty. If I close Maya and restart it, then they shelves will load up fine. Is there any fix to this?
I delete my preferences and start with new ones. This is a very fresh install, and I also had this problem with a previous install of 2012. And it does load up correctly sometimes so the preferences should be correct...right?
