Like everyone, I have certain settings I change in Photoshop which I'd like to maintain regardless of whether I have closed Photoshop, turned off my computer, etc. For example, some settings for saving files in indexed color like turning off the "forced" option, or choosing "never" under "Maximize PSD and PSB compatibility under File Handling. Code:
Adjustments I make to images will not stick. I read that this might be because I need to rest my preferences. I can only find a lesson for how to do this for Windows 7 or XP. I have Windows 8 and the directions do not apply as the path does not lead to the folders I need.
How do I reset Photoshop 10 Peferences? I read that may correct my Group Shot problem. However, when starting PSE and I press Ctrl+Shift+Alt I do not receive the questiion about resetting my preferences.
After every point update, some of Photoshop's preferences get reset (interface colour is the most noticeable). This also happens with point updates to Illustrator and InDesign.
Running OSX Mountain Lion with latest updates to OS and Creative Cloud.
Firstly, I cant get the reset preferences window to appear, as isntructed, by holding ctrl/alt/shift down and opening the application - I just get the details of the shortcut. tried on the actual.exe file and still dont get the window as described.
secondly, the hand tool does not seem to work? I select it, the 4 options appear in the tool bar above and the little hand Icon, but clicking and dragging on the file in the open window, has no effect, I cant move the file around the window as I supposed to be able to do.
Every so often I notice that my preferences have been reset. Can't pin down a frequency, but you say every 4-6 months this happens.Documents open in tab form, my scratch drive is now C, and the checked options of S and O drive is gone.
I have not reset the preferences or done any actions or disk clean up operations.Using current version of McAfee Security Center and it does run scans automatically. But it does this frequently so the 4-6 mo. of reset makes this unlikely.
Windows 7 OS and PS 12.0.4.Have noticed this same occurrence for years even with CS3.
Tools and preferences reset to default every time I quit Illustrator (cs6)? I spend so much time setting up my tool pallet "just so" but every time I have to close down and re-open they just resent to default . . . same is happening in photoshop??
i'm in action schematic and if i reset any node (for example images/surface) then some parameter is still not affected. For example : the blend type and surface type and couple more are not affected by that reset function. Is this a bug ?
When saving a .PNG file in Photoshop CS5 the only option that appears is Interlace (None / Interlaced). Is there any other preferences that could be set (e.g. the compression level)?
I have deleted CS2 and installed CS4.How can I use my preferences from CS2? I hate the thought of trying to reconstruct my actions, function keys, menu colors, etc.
I'm running PS5 on Mac OS Mountain Lion. I'm having to reset the preferences file a lot at the moment, as some of the presets are going missing from the drop down box.
This is happening in the Levels adjustment dialog box. So, when I reset the preferences file the drop down presets that come with PS5 then reappear. Does the preferences file keep getting corrupted? If so, why?
I've set the interface to the middle grey colour. Yet recently, PS opens to the dark grey interface. Some other strangeness like Open Recent list has been cleared. I'm on Windows7.
I am preparing to install a new hard drive in my computer and I don't want to lose all of my preferences. How can I save these to reload after the install? I am using Adobe CS4 Extended v. 11.0.2 on a WIN XP Pro sp3 machine.
Also, will my preferences carry over to Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium?
P.S. My current hard drive has suffered two crashes already so I'm hoping to get the hard drive switched over as soon as it arrives (next day or 2).
Each time I open Photoshop, I load an image and use my scroll wheel to zoom and I have to go back and re-do my preferences. No preferences are ever saved.
I recently upgraded to CS6. I don't like the way Photoshop zooms now. I've looked around in the Help section, but I'm guessing I'm not using the correct terminology. Basically, I want the zoom to work as it did in CS4.
I want to draw a marquee selection, and when I release the mouse... that is the section it zooms in on. I've played with all the zoom preferences, and I can't get it to do this. How can I make this work?
So I've had this problem for awhile, and thinking that everything would be repaired upon switching to an SSD and clean installing Adobe, my dang preferences REFUSE to save. I set them, restart, check, nothing. I've gone in and deleted my photoshop preference files hoping it would just create a new com.adobe.blah, but no, my program has a mind of its own.
I haven't noticed this problem within any other CC app I use, just Photoshop. It annoys me so much because I hate the application frame with a passion. It's an OCD thing.
I recently installed Photoshop CS4 extended, and I'm having some problems with Preferences in the edit menu. When I attempt to go to either "performance" or "general" under preferences, it freezes, then I get an error report and it shuts down.
Everything else has been working fine so far, though, and it's a wonderful program. My computer is a little older, and is on xp.
I'm sure there is a simple solution to my problem but I can't "see" it. Everytime there is an update to photoshop (CS4) all of my preferences are reset to default and I have to go in and change them to what I want again. I would like to be able to keep the ones I have set even if photoshop updates, can this be done?
I've been noticing that my preferences for Photoshop (and InDesign too) occassionally revert back to their defaults on their own (rulers default back to pixels or picas, workspace defaults back to the original state and so forth). It was mildly annoying, but does anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone else experienced this? Not the most earth-shattering of problems but obviously not normal...(makes you wonder if something more serious may be lurking behind the scenes).
I know to change rulers permanently you need to do it with all documents closed, so that's not it (I'm sure that would be everyone's first piece of advice).
Particulars: CS2, Windows XP (I'd like to blame Windows!), doesn't appear to be any pattern to when it occurs other than it happens on a relaunch of the program, not in mid-stream while you're working. More interesting, I see it happening on 3 different systems (which makes me think it's something with Adobe or Windows, not my flukey PC )
I have increased RAM in a Windows XP Pro, 32bit PC, from 2 GB, to 4 GB. Windows recognizes that I have 3,141,872 kb of physical memory available. Yet, Photoshop CS3 only shows available RAM of 1705 MB (Edit-Preferences-Performance-Memory Usage). I am preparing to do Boot.ini modifications to the /3GB, and /userva switches to increase RAM available to PS. I assumed that PS would show an increase in available RAM, even before modifying the switches. I've been assured by a knowledgeable Windows/PS user that these mods are straight forward. Yet, when I told him that PS was not recognizing the new Ram, while Windows XP was recognizing it, he suggested I post this on the Adobe PS forum. Hence, my thread.  In sum - why doesn't PS recognize the new amount of RAM, or how badly have I misunderstood the concept? (It's probably operator error.)
I have now installed CS4 to my laptop. Is there an easy way to copy my Photoshop and Bridge workspaces and preferences from my desktop?Desktop is XP, laptop is Vista..
I am trying to transfer my preferences from an XP machine to a Vista machine. The file names and locations don't seem to be the same between the two operating systems. Does anybody know how to do this?
