Photoshop :: Way To Copy Preferences From CS5 To CS6?
Jun 9, 2012I am upgrading Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CS6. Is there a way to copy my preference settings from the older version to the newer?

View 23 RepliesIs any know how to copy Photoshop cs5 preference from one user to other? I also need to copy the windows "scripts" arrangement to other users.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a keyboard shortcut for Copy (see directly below). This command doesn't copy multiple. But if I type "Copy" at the comment prompt (AutoCAD 2013) the copy multiple is the default. Copymode is already set to "0".
(DEFUN C:C()
(setvar "SNAPMODE" 1)(COMMAND "_COPY")
(PRIN1)
)
For this example let's take in account that I have 2 identical in every aspect copies (meaning size and content at this point) of the very same image.
1st remains unedited,
2nd is edited only as far as concerning the image > adjustments menu through changing mostly channel mixer, selective color, saturation etc values and had an object attached to it atop of the original depiction before being edited as a whole.
What I want to do is to edit the 1st image, compare in some certain ways the colors of it I guess with the ones of the 2nd, match for instance where color hex value X (and horizontal/vertical X,Y coords - is it needed in order to be more precise and avoid mistakes?) (I guess again) from the 1st image is edited into color (or even additional settings atop of that?) hex value Z, do that automatically for all the combinations and immediately apply the same changes I applied from 2nd pic when unedited (and looked exactly like 1st pic) to the very same 2nd pic in start, TO the 1st pic in the present case. Also in order to do this "color matching" before applied or not I need to set out-seperate the area where I have added an additional object in the 2nd picture and fill it possibly with the original content from the 1st(can it be done in one move) in order for the process to be complete?
That means I turned the 2nd image into a combination of blue-green-red colour (and other) from orange-yellow-cyan (just an example) I want to do the very same to my 1st pic which is orange-yellow-cyan etc.
I'm upgrading to a Zenbook which has no optical drive so I won't be able to install PS via the disk that I purchased a couple years ago. Would the key from my hard copy work with a downloaded copy of PS?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen saving a .PNG file in Photoshop CS5 the only option that appears is Interlace (None / Interlaced). Is there any other preferences that could be set (e.g. the compression level)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI open PS and am attempting to remove previous preferences, nothing opens up asking if I want to do this.
I don't see Preferences in any Adobe subfolder to remove it, so I'm assuming that they are not being deleted for the "lessons"
I have deleted CS2 and installed CS4.How can I use my preferences from CS2? I hate the thought of trying to reconstruct my actions, function keys, menu colors, etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running PS5 on Mac OS Mountain Lion. I'm having to reset the preferences file a lot at the moment, as some of the presets are going missing from the drop down box.
This is happening in the Levels adjustment dialog box. So, when I reset the preferences file the drop down presets that come with PS5 then reappear. Does the preferences file keep getting corrupted? If so, why?
I've set the interface to the middle grey colour. Yet recently, PS opens to the dark grey interface. Some other strangeness like Open Recent list has been cleared. I'm on Windows7.

Also, will my preferences carry over to Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium?

P.S. My current hard drive has suffered two crashes already so I'm hoping to get the hard drive switched over as soon as it arrives (next day or 2).Â
Sometimes when I start up Photoshop CS6, I discover that all my preferences have reverted to defaults.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEach time I open Photoshop, I load an image and use my scroll wheel to zoom and I have to go back and re-do my preferences. No preferences are ever saved.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to CS6. I don't like the way Photoshop zooms now. I've looked around in the Help section, but I'm guessing I'm not using the correct terminology. Basically, I want the zoom to work as it did in CS4.
I want to draw a marquee selection, and when I release the mouse... that is the section it zooms in on. I've played with all the zoom preferences, and I can't get it to do this. How can I make this work?
How do I set up CS6 preferences?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I've had this problem for awhile, and thinking that everything would be repaired upon switching to an SSD and clean installing Adobe, my dang preferences REFUSE to save. I set them, restart, check, nothing. I've gone in and deleted my photoshop preference files hoping it would just create a new com.adobe.blah, but no, my program has a mind of its own.

I haven't noticed this problem within any other CC app I use, just Photoshop. It annoys me so much because I hate the application frame with a passion. It's an OCD thing.
Is there a way in PhotoshopCS2 to set my black forground color to always be true black as the default each time I open PS?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I copy my CS4 preferences to an instance of CS4 running on another PC?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Photoshop CS4 extended, and I'm having some problems with Preferences in the edit menu. When I attempt to go to either "performance" or "general" under preferences, it freezes, then I get an error report and it shuts down.
Everything else has been working fine so far, though, and it's a wonderful program. My computer is a little older, and is on xp.
I'm sure there is a simple solution to my problem but I can't "see" it. Everytime there is an update to photoshop (CS4) all of my preferences are reset to default and I have to go in and change them to what I want again. I would like to be able to keep the ones I have set even if photoshop updates, can this be done?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been noticing that my preferences for Photoshop (and InDesign too) occassionally revert back to their defaults on their own (rulers default back to pixels or picas, workspace defaults back to the original state and so forth). It was mildly annoying, but does anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone else experienced this? Not the most earth-shattering of problems but obviously not normal...(makes you wonder if something more serious may be lurking behind the scenes).
I know to change rulers permanently you need to do it with all documents closed, so that's not it (I'm sure that would be everyone's first piece of advice).
Particulars: CS2, Windows XP (I'd like to blame Windows!), doesn't appear to be any pattern to when it occurs other than it happens on a relaunch of the program, not in mid-stream while you're working. More interesting, I see it happening on 3 different systems (which makes me think it's something with Adobe or Windows, not my flukey PC )
I have increased RAM in a Windows XP Pro, 32bit PC, from 2 GB, to 4 GB. Windows recognizes that I have 3,141,872 kb of physical memory available. Yet, Photoshop CS3 only shows available RAM of 1705 MB (Edit-Preferences-Performance-Memory Usage). I am preparing to do Boot.ini modifications to the /3GB, and /userva switches to increase RAM available to PS. I assumed that PS would show an increase in available RAM, even before modifying the switches. I've been assured by a knowledgeable Windows/PS user that these mods are straight forward. Yet, when I told him that PS was not recognizing the new Ram, while Windows XP was recognizing it, he suggested I post this on the Adobe PS forum. Hence, my thread.  In sum - why doesn't PS recognize the new amount of RAM, or how badly have I misunderstood the concept? (It's probably operator error.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer my preferences from an XP machine to a Vista
machine. The file names and locations don't seem to be the same
between the two operating systems. Does anybody know how to do this?
While my Photoshop CS is loading it gets stuck on "reading text global
resourse" so it takes awhile to finally open. I have also noticed that
its slowing down when processing some photos. I've previously reset my
preferences and thats taken care of the problem. Here lies my current
problem. While PS is loading I press and hold Alt-Control-Shift keys
and nothing happens. Photoshop just contines to load and it never
prompts the "delete Preference settings" box. I'm on a PC and can't
seem to find how to resolve this.
Just reinstalled PS CS3 on a new hard disk, 8gb ram, oodles of storage, upgraded from vista 32 to vista 64.The same problem happened when I installed it on vista 32. But did not retain instructions on how to cure it. View 3 Replies View Related"To re-create the Photoshop preferences file:
1. Quit Photoshop.
2. Rename the Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp file (for example, to Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.old) in the Documents and Settings [username] Application DataAdobePhotoshop9.0Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings folder.
3. Start Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new preferences file."
That's all very well and fine, but I'm pretty sure I remember something about a keyboard command that could be used during PS startup to reset preferences. I've looked through 3 or four pages of search results to find it, and no dice.
I'm on CS5 Recently I saved a file on photoshop in the Photoshop PDF format. It changed my default saving format to Photoshop.PDF. How do I reset or revert it back to my default .psd format?

I had my CS 4 and 5 Scratch Prefs set to a specific scratch partition on another local disk where I had a small partition dedicated towards it. I was doing some disk maintenance on that other disk and forget to go into CS and reset the scratch to the start-up disk. Now I cannot open CS4 or CS5 because it is looking for a scratch disk that does not exist.

Is a complete re-install the only fix, or is there a command line or other way other way than a complete re-install?
I have windows 8 x64I uninstalled and re-installed from my Web Premium DVD's This started happening recently and was working fine for quite a while To fix it i tried:
ctrl+alt+shift to reste prefrences - still crashes, uninstalled and re-installed (just photoshop x64 & acrobat 9). Searching the forums but a lot of the links appear to be dead.
