Jun 2, 2013I notice that the PS default for on screen resolution - in the Preferences dialogue - is 72ppi. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in setting that to 96ppi which is the Windows default?

Viewing Lightroom settings in Camera Raw
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files. By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom‟s develop module.
VideoStudio :: Setting Default Project Preferences
Nov 9, 2012Elsewhere in the forum I have a topic about sound echo, and a fix was to render a clip using the same project properties it was recorded with, at least regarding audio.
When I load X5, without a project or clip in the timeline - the project preference audio format is LPCM even tho the camcorder I use records dolby audio. I can open and edit the project preferences to change LPCM to dolby, and I can also check settings/enable 5.1 surround sound which does the same thing, but that setting won't survive an X5 program close. One would think that editing the properties like that and selecting OK at the end, the changes would have been saved and become the default. But when I next open X5, the project audio is again set LPCM.
As part of investigating the echo issue I uninstalled and re-installed X5 without any impact on the audio issues, which includes this one.
How can I set the project settings for audio so that the default is dolby and it lasts thru a close and the next X5 open?
Lightroom :: How To Get Back To Default Setting For Preferences For External Editing
Feb 12, 2012I would like to send images from LR3 to Photoshop Elements 10 for editing and would like the copy sent to PSE 10 to be distinguished from the original by having 'Edit' added to the end. I believe LR3 does this by default (have been reading Scott Kelby's book) but I must have done something to change this and don't know how to get back to this default.

Also at the end of doing some editing, the instructions in Scott kelby's book, are very clear, just press Command-S to save the image and Command-W to close it. He's very specific about not doing anything else like choose 'Save As'. But when I pressed Command-S, a box appeared and I had to choose Save As or Cancel. Is that because his instructions work with full Photoshop but not Elements 10 or am I just not understanding something fundamental here?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Setting Up Default Setting For Lab Environment
Sep 4, 2012Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.

Oct 14, 2012I'm running PS5 on Mac OS Mountain Lion. I'm having to reset the preferences file a lot at the moment, as some of the presets are going missing from the drop down box.
This is happening in the Levels adjustment dialog box. So, when I reset the preferences file the drop down presets that come with PS5 then reappear. Does the preferences file keep getting corrupted? If so, why?

Oct 8, 2013So I've had this problem for awhile, and thinking that everything would be repaired upon switching to an SSD and clean installing Adobe, my dang preferences REFUSE to save. I set them, restart, check, nothing. I've gone in and deleted my photoshop preference files hoping it would just create a new com.adobe.blah, but no, my program has a mind of its own.

I haven't noticed this problem within any other CC app I use, just Photoshop.It annoys me so much because I hate the application frame with a passion. It's an OCD thing.

Everytime there is an update to photoshop (CS4) all of my preferences are reset to default and I have to go in and change them to what I want again. I would like to be able to keep the ones I have set even if photoshop updates, can this be done?

Sep 20, 2006I've been noticing that my preferences for Photoshop (and InDesign too) occassionally revert back to their defaults on their own (rulers default back to pixels or picas, workspace defaults back to the original state and so forth). It was mildly annoying, but does anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone else experienced this? Not the most earth-shattering of problems but obviously not normal...(makes you wonder if something more serious may be lurking behind the scenes).
I know to change rulers permanently you need to do it with all documents closed, so that's not it (I'm sure that would be everyone's first piece of advice).
Particulars: CS2, Windows XP (I'd like to blame Windows!), doesn't appear to be any pattern to when it occurs other than it happens on a relaunch of the program, not in mid-stream while you're working. More interesting, I see it happening on 3 different systems (which makes me think it's something with Adobe or Windows, not my flukey PC )
Photoshop :: CS3 Preferences/Performance Not...
May 13, 2009I have increased RAM in a Windows XP Pro, 32bit PC, from 2 GB, to 4 GB. Windows recognizes that I have 3,141,872 kb of physical memory available. Yet, Photoshop CS3 only shows available RAM of 1705 MB (Edit-Preferences-Performance-Memory Usage). I am preparing to do Boot.ini modifications to the /3GB, and /userva switches to increase RAM available to PS. I assumed that PS would show an increase in available RAM, even before modifying the switches. I've been assured by a knowledgeable Windows/PS user that these mods are straight forward. Yet, when I told him that PS was not recognizing the new Ram, while Windows XP was recognizing it, he suggested I post this on the Adobe PS forum. Hence, my thread.  In sum - why doesn't PS recognize the new amount of RAM, or how badly have I misunderstood the concept? (It's probably operator error.)

its slowing down when processing some photos. I've previously reset my

But did not retain instructions on how to cure it. That's all very well and fine, but I'm pretty sure I remember something about a keyboard command that could be used during PS startup to reset preferences. I've looked through 3 or four pages of search results to find it, and no dice.

I had my CS 4 and 5 Scratch Prefs set to a specific scratch partition on another local disk where I had a small partition dedicated towards it. I was doing some disk maintenance on that other disk and forget to go into CS and reset the scratch to the start-up disk. Now I cannot open CS4 or CS5 because it is looking for a scratch disk that does not exist.

Is a complete re-install the only fix, or is there a command line or other way other way than a complete re-install?
