GIMP :: Transferring User Preferences
Feb 2, 2012I've been using gimp for a while, and made quite a few customizations throughout the whole user interface (rearranging, resizing docks & windows, adding new ones), custom shortcut keys and mouse commands etc.
I would like to store these custom settings in a neat little package, so if i have to reinstall my system or simply install gimp to a new machine, I could restore my customized user interface without much hassle.
So the question is:
Where exactly are gimps config files are stored especially the ones containing the examples I made?
I also have a few smaller unrelated questions:
-I would like to map functions to mouse button 4 and 5 (undo, redo) but how to map these keys.
-Is there a way to set up a shortcut for "previous color used" and "previous brush used", so i wouldn't have to manually switch colors an brushes all the time?
I'm using the windows 64 bit version of the 2.7.5 beta from Partha.
Paint Shop Pro :: Can Restore X6 User Preferences After A Reinstall
Dec 29, 2013I lost my Windows 7 system disk, and reinstalled on a new disk. I have reinstalled PSP X6, but I really want to restore all those favorite user preferences/settings.
Corel does not let us bring settings over from version to version, but surely I can restore my X6 settings to this reinstall?
I have a backup of almost! everything that was on my drive, and have restored my user files, and my profiles for many applications. But where are the PSP settings stored?
AutoCAD LT :: 2010 - Moving Custom Files User Preferences
Nov 12, 2012Had to get a new hard drive. Using Win XP, LT 2010. Most customization is on server, but I had some tool palettes, and I made one ribbon panel with a few tabs. Old hard drive is still accessible on the computer. Three items I want to copy.
1. Tool palettes - Can I just copy the items from support/icons, and support/palettesinto the same location on the new drive?
2. Will copying the profile.aws to the same location work for the profile? and
3. Where do I copy my custom file for the custom tab & panel?

Is it possible to export/save that interface and pull it into the program and use the interface when I "Run As Administrator"? Or do I need to just spend time rebuilding?
As a User, when I work with a web site file, I have to republish locally all pages every time I open the file. It does not remember where I stored my preview. I am hoping that by running as administrator that will no longer be necessary. (My website file built in XWD6 moved to XDP6 and moved to XDP7 ends in .xar not .web)

AutoCAD LT :: Prevent Saving When Another User Opens Read-only Copy
May 7, 2013I have one user (user 1) who will work on a drawing and while they have it open, another user (user 2) opens the same file and they are prompted it is in use and they can open a read-only copy. Once user 2 opens the read-only copy, user 1 can no longer save their drawing until user 1 closes the read-only copy.
User 1 gets the following error when trying to save:
"Unable to save to drawing X:folderpathfilename.dwg as it is being accessed by another session. Drawing saved to X:folderpathfilename.tmp"
This does not happen everytime either.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Transition From Single User / Desktop Content To Two User / Vault?
May 7, 2013After getting Vault installed on our server and successfully setting up users and connections, I used the Library Transfer Guide to move our Content Center (including custom) to the Vault. I then changed the Inventor Application Options -> Content Center -> Access Options to Autodesk Vault Server.
This seems to have worked, as I can Place from Content Center when in an assembly, and it is pulling standard content as well as our custom files properly from the vault. However, in the instructions that I used for the installlation, it was suggested to stick with a standard folder structure within the Vault, namely two Library Folders named 'Content Center Files' and 'Libraries' and also a regular folder named 'Designs'.
I created those folders prior to transferring the library, as I thought they would be populated with the standard/custom content. This was not the case and I am curious when these folders come into play? *they are empty*
Also, today I will be attempting to 'Check In' a project to the Vault that I recently completed; does this usually maintain structural relationships between files?
Would you recommend using a single project structure in vault for two people? It seems, since we won't be working on the same project at the same time, having a single project would not be relavant to our situation..

Apr 28, 2013Is there a way I can install a zxp file for all users of a machine, rather than just the user who is currently logged on? I think they only install for the currently logged on user, but most users dont have admin rights on the PCs so they can't install stuff anyway.

Mar 21, 2009know the logic behind the fact that PS7 users can't upgrade to CS4? I can't believe that Adobe doesn't have the IT knowledge to enable CS4 to be backwards compatible. One person suggested that I upgrade to CS2 or CS3 and then upgrade again to CS4. That will, of course, save me some money, but why on earth should I have to do that - it's still expensive?

However, with Photoshop CC, it is asking her to purchase a Photoshop CC subscription. Is there any way she can just use Photoshop CC from her account on my laptop?

Jan 24, 2013We're a college and we're having trouble with Photoshop CS6 opening for 4 [at the moment] individual users. The error follows them from mac to mac, but another ue can log on after them and everything works fine, so it must somehow be linked to their profiles, but we've reset/deleted these and it's made no difference. I've attached screenshots of the 4 error messages they get. because at the moment these students cannot do their work properly?

Specifically, we want to put a frame border around the edges of a photo, but the choices of frames don't show up for one user, but they do for the other (who has computer administrator privileges). Feb 19, 2013After editing 100+ images in bridge I save the files as DNG for the magazines I work for, it's only just come to my attention that for them to alter the exposure/contrast they must convert the image to 5.5 which means losing the adjustments I've already made. It's time wasting for both of us.
I tried using the different options under 'compatibility' of saving for camera raw 2.4 and later (4.1, 4.6, 5.4, 6.6) not sure how to use the custom area. I'd consider using the previous version just on these jobs but I'm not even sure how to do that.

Apr 8, 2013Just returned to PSE after a gap of several versions.I MacBook Pro, two users (both admins) and several cameras. I want one (and only one, at present) catalog that can be accessed by both users of the MacBook so that each user has access to all of the pix
I Installed Elements and added a few photo's to a folder in the root of the hdd, and tinkered a little. Discovered that the auto-created catalog was buried in the user/username path, not appropriate for multiple users, I thought.
So backed up catalog to external drive, then restored it to the folder that I'd previously added the photos to, viz HD/ALL PHOTOS/My Catalog. This works absolutely fine for me, as I set it up.
When the other user starts Elements and goes Catalog Managent and browse to Other Locations: HD/ALL PHOTOS/ and is able to select 'My Catalog' and Open. She then gets the message "The catalog could not be opened. It is either corrupt or the version is out of date"
Both usaers have R&W permissions. Both users are definately pointing at HD/ALL PHOTOS/My Catalog.

Photoshop :: Network / External Drive With (Users) In Path Breaks?
Mar 21, 2013I'm on a mac and I'm trying to run the photoshop script "Layer Comps to Files" - which works fine .... UNLESS I'm connected to an SMB network drive with "users" in the path.
NOTE: I am not trying to save to the network drive!
NOTE: Each test I'm doing is exactly the same (other than which network drive is connected)
NOTE: Just having the network drive connected with "Users" in the path messes things up!
eg.
Script does NOT run if I have an SMB drive connected with "Users" in the path, e.g.: [URL]...As soon as I disconnect the SMB drive (I don't even have to close photoshop) the script runs perfectly fine.The script also runs FINE with other SMB network drives withOUT "users" in the path, e.g.:[URL]...
I found this thread from 2010 (which has never been resolved but is inconveniently read-only now) has the same issue with CS4 and it still isn't fixed in CS6:[URL]...

Text and lines will be in place,and legible on one screen and saved as. when the other user opens the file, some of the text shifts from left to right.
Everything in model space is fine, its just the layout space where this occurs.
