Maya :: Can't Edit Renderable Frame Range

I seem to be having a very strange and annoying problem with Maya 2013. I cannot change the rederable frame range at all and also some of the other rendering options! I had this problem with Maya 2012 but overcame it by borrowing a friends project file with all the render settings working and then saving a pre-set of those settings.

I am working in a custom project. 30fps (progressive). My quicktimes begin at frame 0. When I look at the files in quicktime, the frames are there. When I import the files into premiere CC. the first 2 frames are not viewable and my imported clip begins at frame 2. Is this a settings thing?

I'm trying to export an animated gif with 52 frames - I'm using the timeline in CS6, it's exported correctly in the past but when I try and save for web only a seemingly arbitrary number of rames appear in the animation. With no clear route to rectify this, I've tried to affect the outcome by simply moving things around on the timeline.
I've had a variety of frame ranges (and frames) numbering between 2 and 6 frames, far off my 52 target. It's a simple image and equally simple transition to keep filesize down

How can I change the range at which blend shapes are created? In other words, blend shapes are created with ranges from 0.0 to 1.0. How could I change it to, for example, -0.4 to 4 without using a custom attribute?
I'm aware I can type -0.4 or 4 in a blend shape target. However, that will mutiply the effect which is not desirable.

I know how to use the various menu items to select rings and loops, and even understand that double-clicking will select an entire loop/ring, but how do I select a range of loops/rings?
After selecting the first edge, then double-clicking on a second only results with the entire loop/ring getting selected. A single-click will merely add the next selection to the first, but not fill in the range in between. This used to be more intuitive. What has changed? I've tried using additional keys to no avail.

My band has just recorded our first music video. We are very happy with the result except that the glasses on me (the lead singer) during the close-ups look very funny, they are very skew, and the "frame" does not go behind the ear.
What I would like to do is to import the video and edit these clips frame by frame, where this is showing. There is about 15 seconds totally of me in close-up - 15 x 24= 360 images. The clips are about 1-3 seconds long. And I want to edit all of these short clips of me and then make it a full-length video again.
I made a quick edit on one of the images from the video. The shades still look a little funny but it gets better when the frame goes behind the ear. If it's possible to correct the "glass" part of the shades as well.

There are a few Aluminum Composite Panels represented in my model.To cheat I use RENDERABLE LINES for the Joint lines so that they show up when Rendered.However, I did something stupid -- like erase all of them. They must have been grouped or something. But they are ALL GONE.SO, I went to earlier versions of my model and tried to do the following:
1. Merge: Fail. I see the Gizmos for the lines, but they are a no show in Wireframe and they do NOT render
2. Import .3ds: Fail. All I see are Green Outlines of where they should be AND STILL do not render.
3. Xref: Fail. Same as attempt 1.
QUESTIONs:
-Why are these lines not able to import, or be seen?
-What other solutions (besides redrawing them) have I overlooked?

I'm trying to scale a spring (which is actually a renderable spline). I want it's scalable boundaries to be controlled by two other animated objects.
I thought a simple FFD modifier with a linked xform modifier to the control points would work, but unfortunately it won't let me link control points.

I am new to the Photoshop animation feature (in C.S. 5.5)., and I am having a problem. When I edit the layers in the second frame, the same changes occur in the first frame. If I add additional frames, they all change whenever I edit one of them. As a result, all of the frames are the same, which makes for a rather uneventful animation.
I have tried unchecking the "propagate frame 1" box, but that has no effect. What am I doing wrong? How can I limit the changes to the selected frame only?

I am currently working on a game and am pretty new to the world of Maya ( 2D animator gone rogue!), I have some animation that I am cutting and I have noticed something I find strange. There seem to be multiple keys inside one frame ( see pic). I am guessing this is something extremely obvious that I as a new user do not understand, how to edit these keys within the frame?

When you render an shot, is there a way to get the frame number to be included in the rendered image? So that when they are put together into a movie a viewer can pause to see what frame it's on so that accurate critiques can be made.

I have been working on a head model on and off for a couple of days to practice extrusion methods, I have been working with smooth shade. When I went back to it yesterday I came across this problem - Anytime I went to extrude/bride/append/soften normals etc my model the part I was extruding would turn to wire frame and an unrelated part of the head would change to wire frame also. I am mirroring the mesh down the middle; sometimes the mirrored half is changed to wire frame also, sometimes not.
As I didn't know how to fix the issue I reverted to an earlier save I had made before the affected areas had been built up. Now I have nearly finished getting back to the same point I was at yesterday I'm coming across the same problem.

I have some embedded images in Frame Maker that I need to edit in Photoshop. I copy the image from FM and paste it as a new image into Photoshop. Most of the time its OK, but sometimes it comes up like this, or worse.
It should look like this.
Pasting the image into any other program (i.e. Word, Visio, Paintbrush) works, but it takes more time to fix it, the size is usually off and needs adjusting, and the output is of lower quality.
In FM, the images that seem to do this are JPEG / Frame Vector or PNG / Frame Vector according to the Facets field.

We have a multi-member frame generator assembly. Some of the frame members are demoted to make sub-assemblies. One of these sub-assemblies is giving us problems. The FG options are missing. Ex. "Edit with Frame Generator" and "Delete with Frame Generator"....
Yesterday, we changed the size of the member using "Edit with Frame Generator" but decided against the change and just simply closed the file wihout saving. Upon opening the drawing back up, the change was present and the FG options were missing.
We have tried restoring previous versions. We have tried replacing the member with the original member file that we wanted using Component Replace. Nothing has restored the FG functionality. (Other sub-assemblies and the overall assembly are unaffected and have the FG options). However, we cannot even just delete this subassembly and try again. Delete is not an option.
How to get rid of it or restore the link to the frame generator?

Everything draws correctly in shaded mode but it you are in wireframe mode with the object selected at the object level the grid and the selected object no longer draw.

I'm using fcp hotkey , by default the 'drag copy (single frame)' is mapped to ' alt-c' . Normally this will work fine. But in some case where a cfx clip is selected or my time indicator is parked on top of a cfx clip in active timeline , then do 'alt-c' will give an error message "connectfx cannot be modified inside the containers. Proceed with edit ? "
So to solve this temporarily, i have to first deselect the cfx clip or move the current positioner on top of a non-cfx clip.

Part of my daily workflow is to export a single frame of my edit for client approvals. In the export menu, is there a way to NOT have Smoke add the zeros to the end of the file name?
Also, what's the best (fastest) way to export a single frame? The way I'm doing it now is that I'm copying a segment to the the desktop then going into tools then using the repeat function. is there a better way?

Autodesk Inventor 2010 - How do I set default for "use standards notation" to off or unchecked in the "Edit Unit Attributes" dialog box for feature control frames? I want to do this because the Feature Control Frame style unit setting does not override it as I believe it should. This causes an extra value within the tolerance box of the feature control frame if the Standard General units differ from the style’s primary units.

I'm supposed to model from scratch or find a pre-rigged model for some animation. I found a free rigged dog model for Maya [URL] .... that will fit my story perfectly, but I want to be able to change some of the geometry of the model, like modifying the ears and tail. But I can't seem to figure out how to do that! I'm able to select parts of the dog and move it around, but I don't know how to actually change the model itself. And if I do so, will it mess up the rigging? How do I go about editing this model?

I have been following a tutorial in modelling a helmet, which is meant for beginners to learn the software well.
I know that I have already ask this, but I want to rephrase this better.
I can't find the "reset setting" button from edit on My maya 2014 software.
The reason the tutorial is using the "rest setting" is to adjust the width, height and depth of the cube I have out there by using numbers as its measurement.
I don't know if there are any other buttons that can do the same job, or is there another way to find this button... I can't progress my learning until I know what to do about this.

I'm using Maya 2013 and I can't find "Edit Mesh" at the top of the window. I've found this page (

but it refers to Maya 2012. The second problem is:
I'm trying to put an image on the cylinder-surface. I've found a youtube-video (added bellow) which says I have to click on "Cylindrical Mapping" after making a "blinn2" (and so on).
But when I click on "Cylindrical Mapping" nothing happens. There isn't even an error message.
