AutoCAD Inventor :: Control Frame Edit Unit Attributes Use Standards Notation
Apr 3, 2012
Autodesk Inventor 2010 - How do I set default for "use standards notation" to off or unchecked in the "Edit Unit Attributes" dialog box for feature control frames? I want to do this because the Feature Control Frame style unit setting does not override it as I believe it should. This causes an extra value within the tolerance box of the feature control frame if the Standard General units differ from the style’s primary units.

In particular item 29 - same part number, exactly the same parameters (I checked them one by one), but a "Varies" for Unit Qty.It is a truss frame, and item 29, as many others, has "trim to frame" end treatments.

Is there a way to change the position of the ‘note text’ to over the top of the Feature control frame as currently the ‘note text’ goes underneath and company standards will be adhered to at all cost !

I'm looking to do sort of an adaptive annotation thorugh vb.net.
Essentially i'd like it start with a leader and instead of your normal text dial that appears, you get a box to punch in values in a grid. 5 columns across, as many as two rows.
The idea being if i punch in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in the first six boxes all 5 in the first row appear with boxes around each number and then only the 6 has aa box around it on row 2.
I can see it as a table 5x2, and the format option being if the cell has text, the border type is outline. Although i don't think those options exist for inventor.

We have a multi-member frame generator assembly. Some of the frame members are demoted to make sub-assemblies. One of these sub-assemblies is giving us problems. The FG options are missing. Ex. "Edit with Frame Generator" and "Delete with Frame Generator"....
Yesterday, we changed the size of the member using "Edit with Frame Generator" but decided against the change and just simply closed the file wihout saving. Upon opening the drawing back up, the change was present and the FG options were missing.
We have tried restoring previous versions. We have tried replacing the member with the original member file that we wanted using Component Replace. Nothing has restored the FG functionality. (Other sub-assemblies and the overall assembly are unaffected and have the FG options). However, we cannot even just delete this subassembly and try again. Delete is not an option.
How to get rid of it or restore the link to the frame generator?

I have some issues with the notation for physical properties in the Inventor 2013 material editor.
Instead of displaying the obvious first choice metric SI notation kg/m^3 or something similar it display a self made? and awkward N*s^2/mm^4. I don't want this notation. How can I change to something more user friendly? It can be a bit hard to distinguish if a material have 0.00000000001 N*s^2/mm^4 or 0.0000000001 N*s^2/mm^4.
The document properties "units" folder have mm, seconds, degree and kilogram as default.

(Using AutoCAD 2013) I am trying to insert a .dwg as a block (which has attributes) using the "-insert" command, but the attributes order wrong. The .dwg I'm inserting is the "Exploded" version of the block (loose attributes) so that I don't have to explode it after inserting.
Is there a way to control the order of the attributes when they are inserted?

I'm working on homogonizing all of our various templates, making all the new features from newer templates available in the older templates but I'm getting high centered on a step.
I've exported all of the different drawing standards and imported them all into each template which makes all of the upgraded dim styles available in all of the templates. The issue arrises when I save and close then reopen the template the imported standards are missing. It appears that under Manage, Styles Editor, if the standard is not in use it is not saved with the template. If this is the case how do I put them all "in use"? Even if I activate one of the imported standards, save, close, reopen, then activate a different standard and repeat, the imported standard is deleted.

We have three divisions in my company. Each division uses a different set of drawing templates.
With all of that said, in my division we are trying to setup a certain said standard that was copied from the out of the box standard ANSI one as a starting point. We were hoping to have this standard reside only in our drawing templates, but the way the styles is handling it, it would appear that this standard has to be updated/added to the global styles library.
Is this a true statement that this has to be a global styles update or is there a way to have a said standard be the default setting within just certain drawing templates without being seen or affecting other drawing templates?

My band has just recorded our first music video. We are very happy with the result except that the glasses on me (the lead singer) during the close-ups look very funny, they are very skew, and the "frame" does not go behind the ear.
What I would like to do is to import the video and edit these clips frame by frame, where this is showing. There is about 15 seconds totally of me in close-up - 15 x 24= 360 images. The clips are about 1-3 seconds long. And I want to edit all of these short clips of me and then make it a full-length video again.
I made a quick edit on one of the images from the video. The shades still look a little funny but it gets better when the frame goes behind the ear. If it's possible to correct the "glass" part of the shades as well.

I'm using Inventor 2010.
I've been told to create new dimensioning styles for the company to use as standards when making a drawing. One thing mentioned in particular was the inclusion of 0 inches in architectural drawings.
For example: say a part is 14 feet, 1/2 inches long. Inventor shows this: 14' - 1/2" , but they want this: 14' - 0 1/2" . They've had a problem before with the 1/2 being printed strangely, and the machinist thought it said 1 1/2.
They say that including the 0 is standard, and I need to make it happen.?

I am looking for a macro that can edit the default value off the attriburte for each block in the drawing. The new value must be empty.
But there is one exception. When the length of the current value is equal to 8 then the macro's has to do nothing and the macro must continue to the next block.

Using LT 2014 on Win 7 Pro.
Recently got a new PC and due to problems with regular LT crashes I have recreated my customizations etc. from scratch.
Finally seem to have got everything working OK and how I it was on my old PC, other than one minor issue.
I have edited the CUI so that the "old" attribute editor (ATTEDIT) is launched rather than the enhanced (EATTEDIT) version.
However after double clicking a block a further third click is required to select block/launch editor.
Editing CUI back to EATTEDIT works ok with only a double click required.

Is there any way to edit multiple attribute properties, NOT using battman? While battman will chnage every att-block within the drawing, I'm looking for a way to change the text size of one specific line of text within an attribute, and ONLY change it in a certain few within the drawing. It'd be nice if I can select those specific blocks and change the properties in the properties manager, but it's not an option.

in 2000 I was able to discover a command that allowed you to renumber a large selection of blocks in order. I have been searching for that command again every time I need to renumber a floor plan due to the addition of new spaces. What this command was and if it is still available in 2010? It would save a ton of time!

I downloaded student version Autodesk Inventor 2012 a few month ago. When I start the inventor and go to OPEN, I had the standard options in both inches and millimeters.
BUT someone I work with kind of deleted all my SI unit settings on my computer (thought that we will never use it cuz we are in America...) and now when I want to make something new, i only have Inch options to choose from.
Now I need to make something that is in millimeters, but when I go to File> OPEN, I only have standard options in INCHes....
Should I delete my current Inventor and Download a new one? OR Can I download a folder or file that contains all the SI unit ?

I used to add some parts to CC in Inventor and also some profiles. Whenever I create an assembly I want these profiles I made myself to be counted in millimiteres, whereas it is counted in how many pieces of this long profile I used.
I want these custom made profiles to be counted same as standard pipes from CC- in millimiters.

I have a block named "WD_MLRH". There are 3 specific attributes which I want to change in it. The attribute names are.
RUNGCNT, RUNGDIST and RUNGFIRST.
RUNGCNT will = 20
RUNGDIST will = 1.0 (or 1 will suffice)
RUNGFIRST will be decided by a user input.
Something along the lines of...
(setq RUNGFIRST (getint "Enter first rung number: "))
I'm sure this is completely wrong, but i hope that portray what I'm trying to accomplish.
