Is there a way to change the position of the ‘note text’ to over the top of the Feature control frame as currently the ‘note text’ goes underneath and company standards will be adhered to at all cost !

I'm looking to do sort of an adaptive annotation thorugh vb.net.
Essentially i'd like it start with a leader and instead of your normal text dial that appears, you get a box to punch in values in a grid. 5 columns across, as many as two rows.
The idea being if i punch in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in the first six boxes all 5 in the first row appear with boxes around each number and then only the 6 has aa box around it on row 2.
I can see it as a table 5x2, and the format option being if the cell has text, the border type is outline. Although i don't think those options exist for inventor.
How do you add feature control frames, datums etc to hole notes and dimensions with leaders? Seems to work fine with linear dimensions by dropping them in, but for the life of me I can't make it work with anything that uses a leader. Either the arrow on the contgrol frame shows up, which I don't want, or it places the control frame right on top of the dimension.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?

Autodesk Inventor 2010 - How do I set default for "use standards notation" to off or unchecked in the "Edit Unit Attributes" dialog box for feature control frames? I want to do this because the Feature Control Frame style unit setting does not override it as I believe it should. This causes an extra value within the tolerance box of the feature control frame if the Standard General units differ from the style’s primary units.

I can publish a part containing a user text parameter to the content centre for use in frame generator however when I go to insert that part an error as per the attached screen shot.
To re-create the error you have to follow the below steps.

There should be a way to Notch a straight frame to a curved frame! I want to laser cut the tube, so I really need to trim one tube to a curve tube.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI come across this problem from time to time and generally either just ignore it, if the detail is destined for in house manufacture, or alter it in autocad if it's destined for exterior suppliers.
Our guard frames are manufactured from extruded aluminum section (made by a company called palletti) I have when needed created a new frame generator frame member for each new x-section that we wish to use. I then draw a 2d sketch for the base frame skeleton and then a 3d sketch for all the frame work above. This I then use in an assembly to create the framework. This framework assembly then goes into a second assembly where the framework is then adorned with all the accoutrements that make up a guard frame that we can then order as an assembled frame, panels feet, hinges et al.
When placing the views for the detailing of the second assembly sometimes the view will show the wrong length for one or some of the frame members.
;note how the left and right views are different and how some of the frame members are elongated on the lh view.
I'm guessing its because of the home grown frame members but all seems to work well other wise and this only happens infrequently.

Epilog laser.com has a tutorial how to do it, but I am afraid it is a tutorial for corel draw x3 or x4. I have x5 and when I follow the tutorial, I am not able to get the result I want. I find trouble when I try to trim out the images from the frame.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening intermittently but now seems to be permanent. When I slect the Multiline tool, click to place the text box, then click to place the other corner the box ignores the size I set and snaps to as wide as the screen and one line high. It does this in several different drawings so it is not native to one. If I enter text and deselect I can adjust the handles and alter the text.
I have attached a screen shot to show. It doesn't matter how close or far I am zoomed in on the drawing.
For what it's worth I do not like the way the ribbon panel controls handle text, it usually takes multiple tries to get it to change the text height. I usually resort to using the Properties flyout but that adds mutltple steps to the process.
Running AutoCAD 2009 on Win 7, how do I get a drop down box for text style control, similar to my dim style control etc, onto my toolbar at the top? I've tried clicking on customize and dragging it but it won't move. Other users of Acad 2009 in our office have it but I can't see how to add it to the toolbar, only the icon?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 viewports, one at 1:1000 and the other at 1:250. They show exactly what I want with respect to the area covered and the zoom factor, BUT the text on all of the survey shots is changing size based upon the different viewport scales.
I need the text on the survey points to remain the same size and not adjust based upon the viewport scale. So the text should be a fixed scale and not associative.
I have looked at the labeling style Composer dialogue and can not see a way to specify a fixed height which does not adjust based upon the viewport scale. I can set the point symbols to a specific size so they do not scale - Can I do the same with the text labels (description, elevation, etc.)?
I am typing in Farsi which is a right-to-left language. What I see in the monitor is correct. Words appear from right-to-left. But when I print, Entire sentence appears from left-to-right.
This happens even if I print to PDF file. So it is not a problem with printer.
if i have a size indicated in my text style and i change the size from the style controls, updating the style, should all the instances not change to comply? This is how styles work in other software and how I intuit controlling this parameter.

However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?

When I use "style" to format the labels I get the symbol displayed but the text doesn't show up till I hover over the point with my cursor, and they dont stay visible when I move the cursor away from the point.
When I use "Feature Label" I can get a symbol but no text, even if I hover the cursor over the point.
I have set mapsrtyle to "Enhanced"
I would prefer to use "Feature Label" because of the additional features it offers.
