Jul 12, 2012How do you add feature control frames, datums etc to hole notes and dimensions with leaders? Seems to work fine with linear dimensions by dropping them in, but for the life of me I can't make it work with anything that uses a leader. Either the arrow on the contgrol frame shows up, which I don't want, or it places the control frame right on top of the dimension.

Nov 8, 2012Using AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Feature Control Frame Type Annotation?
Nov 4, 2013I'm looking to do sort of an adaptive annotation thorugh vb.net.
Essentially i'd like it start with a leader and instead of your normal text dial that appears, you get a box to punch in values in a grid. 5 columns across, as many as two rows.
The idea being if i punch in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in the first six boxes all 5 in the first row appear with boxes around each number and then only the 6 has aa box around it on row 2.
I can see it as a table 5x2, and the format option being if the cell has text, the border type is outline. Although i don't think those options exist for inventor.

Jul 26, 2012I'm trying to dimension an ellipse in the Inventor Drawing Feature. I've attached the .idw files. (the .ipt is too large)I am aware that the ellipse doesn't have a constant radius and was wondering what is accepted practice for these dimensions?
I need to first dimension the external elliptical shape (which I'm struggling at), might just add a note.
Secondly I'm trying to dimension the mesh part, its not centrally align to the part and since I can't put a center mark on I'm not sure how I should dimension this...

The feature is nice under normal circumstances, but in my case i need to insert a dxf sketch and then draw around it in inventor. When i start to dimensioning the sketch then it scales the inserted part.

Sep 17, 2013I need to finish the design for my crate that I'm going to build. It's a personal project, and I already finished the whole box, but I have a big issue. I need to add a lock, and I've tried looking for some but I have not found a suitable design or lock for the box.
I might have to redesign it slightly if a hinge is going to be added, but I think the only proper way of locking it is putting 4 locks on the 4 sides at the top of the crate. The top and bottom of the box are 2 separate parts that are the same.

It requires a cut extrusion at a specific point, regardless of which instance of the pattern is affected. Hence I need a way of adding all instances of the patterned part as a participant of the feature. How would I go about this?

AutoCad 2D :: Control Length Of Dimension Line
Nov 15, 2013In Autocad 2006, is there a way to control the length of the dimension line when it extends outside of the dimension distance itself? In other words, when a dimension is small, and the arrowheads flip to the outside of the dimension parameter, the text and the extension line outside of the dimension seems to go to far outside of the dimension area..
Can I control how far outside of the dimension area that this line and text are placed? They seem to go to far out on my drawings. I prefer them to be closer to the actual dimension area instead of extending so far out.. Didn't know if there was a control for this and where to find it.

Jan 28, 2014Edited my footage in a sequence in normal size.
I wanted to make it widescreen, so I made a new sequence in 1920x810.
I then copy pasted my edit into the new sequence and started rendering.
The render window kept adding frames to render, and the percentage jumps and very slowly adds 0.1% into the progress.
I tried choosing a smaller amount to render, same problem still persists.
Why does it now want to render normally? Why does it add frames to render all the time?

Jul 11, 2012I am working on a 6 mile highway project whose surface file is 85MB big. So, I created a Data Shortcut of this surface and used this for creating profiles. However, at some locations the corridors go below the surface(as per their original profile) which was not intended. So, I need to restrict the surface to follow the corridors but not go beyond it.
I have created feature lines from corridors and tried to add them as breaklines to the surface. But " error adding breakline" error pops up.
Is it because I am trying to add the breaklines to the mirror surface which I created from Data Shortcut ??
Will it be useful if I copy feature lines to original surface file and add these feature lines as breaklines in that file??
