GIMP :: Layers Will Not Toggle
Dec 25, 2012GIMP example.docx (Size: 141.1 KB / Downloads: 31) I just found about GIMP several days ago. I really like the features that are offered and cant wait to dive in and play around with it. However, I am getting a bit discouraged because it is not working on my computer the way it does when I visited some u-tube videos. So far I have a problem with the layers. I selected, new, added two layers, therefore I had three layers to work with. When I would toggle between the layers the picture didn't change at all, the screen only allowed me to view the last picture I imported. So, I thought I would hide the third picture and work with the second to see what would happen. I scaled the second picture and it scaled them all (note: the pictures where not linked). I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it still did the same thing. I am working with Windows 7 if that makes any difference?

Jan 20, 2013I resized two images, made a new page canvas, copied and pasted both,opened grid. I can only move one image, can't toggle to other. Layerstack commands are all grayed out, except "reverse layer order" which does nothing. Pg-up/dn keys do nothing. "Align" does nothing.

Aug 1, 2012I have been looking for a way to toggle which brush is selected with a custom key but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Perhaps even better would be to select specific tool presets with custom keys.
I should also note that I am aware of the shortcut action "Select Brush by Index", however it always selects the first brush. Is there a way to change the index number?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Adding To Line Type Control?
Sep 1, 2012how to add, in this case the "Dashed2" Linetype, to my drop down selections and have it stay there pernamently? I know how to add it but every time I start a new drawing it is missing again.

Sep 10, 2012Is there a way to add a node onto a line when you're making it? Obviously you can just make the line, shape it, and then make a new one to get more nodes, but I find it annoying to line up and such. If you can't add more manipulation nodes onto it, that should be a feature!

GIMP :: How To Control One Color Only (2012)
Apr 11, 2012This is another of those things I knew how to do in PShop and am now trying to duplicate in GIMP. I have a photo of a flowchart drawn in green marker on a whiteboard. Photo taken with an iPhone, so quality is yuck. I brought out the greens with Color Enhance, but now the white board has areas that are yellow on the right and blue on the left.
How to target these "problem colors" and desaturate or otherwise move them back to white?
GIMP :: Push Control C Of A Selection And Paste It
Sep 8, 2012If I right click on the selection & go to edit copy, I can copy OK.
If I type control "C", the Create Clip window pops up and it wants me to insert the previous copy I did.
This same thing happened to me 4 months ago & I overcame it somehow; but then I reloaded Gimp and I am now back to where I once was.
I want to push control C of a selection and the paste it. But it makes me do it the long way, right click menus.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Control Print Line Weights On Feature Control Frames?
Nov 8, 2012Using AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?
GIMP :: Adding Text To PDF
Apr 15, 2013My husband and I get floor plan layouts emailed to us for work. I am able to import them and everything looks fine. I add all my text and everything looks great on my computer screen.
When I export it in a PDF file and open it up all the text is super small and sometimes not in the same place I typed it. When we print them out they need to be 36x24 so the writing needs to be somewhat big and in the right place. I am sure it is just user error!

Jun 25, 2012I'm making a graphic work (it's for my kid's yearbook), and I'm struggling to achieve an effect.
Here's the deal:
The attached file is an image in which I try to represent the text and graphics as if they were painted in a wood plank. I'm pleased with the effect on the surface of the plank, but I wanted to give the plank some thickness, to make it seem more like a 3d plank. That thickness effect is what has been tormenting me.

Mar 26, 2013I am trying to add an outline to text. Follow all the instructions and it has worked in the past, but most of the time it doesn't.
I select the text, then choose "path from text".
At this point the marching ants come out - but they only come out for about 2/3 of the text. The rest doesn't have them. When i try to create the outline it only creates it for the first two thirds. The missing 1/3 is on the right hand side. I tried to do a screen shot but the marching ants don't show.
When i upgraded recently the issue went away so i thought it was just a bug, but now its back.

Aug 20, 2011I've got an image I'm trying to make my wallpaper thats a 1024 x 768 image. My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 so if I use the image and use the "fill" option to have the image fit my background perfectly it won't fit and some stuff gets cut off. I have to use the "fill" option instead" of "fit" which gives it borders kind of like of how I want because I'm rotating wallpapers and this is the only one that doesn't work under "fill"
What I want to do is just import my image into gimp and then add some paint on the right and left outside the image to make it wider so it would fit as my background without some stuff getting cut out.
Is there a way to import an image into gimp and then add some paint outside the image and then save the new image with the paint outside the original image onto my hard drive?

Nov 16, 2012I'm creating text along a path and then stroking the outline and adding a gradient fill - this is all fine. The problem comes when I want to move it, as once the text is added along the path, it often doesn't follow the path until the end so I'd like to centre it on the page, or maybe move it vertically a bit to fit around other stuff as I add to the image.

Now I cut and pasted it to a youth flag football team pic in the corner. But because I captured some of the sky in the background, the yellow STEELERS logo kind of blended in at that point as seen here (I cropped out the team and am just showing the corner):
Is there a way to select this logo by color and at the same time maybe widen that selection by a few pixels to capture some of the black around the STEELERS logo so that when I transfer it to the team pic, it stands out more by essentially creating a border around it?
