GIMP :: Adding Monogram On Garment?
Nov 10, 2013
I do monogramming, and have an online store. I want to do a monogram in my software, then save it as a jpeg. I want to then put that on top of a jpeg of a sweatshirt, as if it were monogrammed, so as not to have to actually do a shirt for a sample. Not sure if I attached these photos right.

I'm looking for Garment and Hat Templates to create a virtual sample proof for customers to approve art. I've found some, but they don't have sweatshirts. I found one for T-Shirts that had all the shading and allowed to with one click to change the shirt color.
I've even tried Advanced Artist Design program by it lacks sweatshirts and is very limited on garment types, even the add-on purchase package.

I'm modelling a complex curve for a fashion garment. I've always modelled in polygons in the past but have had more success on this project using nurbs, however I've got to a certain position and I'm wondering which way is the best way to model / create the next section of the garment(see image attached). Is it just the case of creating lots of section lines as lofting?

My husband and I get floor plan layouts emailed to us for work. I am able to import them and everything looks fine. I add all my text and everything looks great on my computer screen.
When I export it in a PDF file and open it up all the text is super small and sometimes not in the same place I typed it. When we print them out they need to be 36x24 so the writing needs to be somewhat big and in the right place. I am sure it is just user error!

Will GIMP allow this?

I've increased the canvas size on an animated gif that I found and it's transparent. I can't work out how to have this new area as something I can put text on with a black background colour.

I'm making a graphic work (it's for my kid's yearbook), and I'm struggling to achieve an effect.
Here's the deal:
The attached file is an image in which I try to represent the text and graphics as if they were painted in a wood plank. I'm pleased with the effect on the surface of the plank, but I wanted to give the plank some thickness, to make it seem more like a 3d plank. That thickness effect is what has been tormenting me.

how to place an gif between two layers (or add text, brushes, images over it) without screwing up the animation. I've experimented with it, and the results tends to be that one of the layers (pictures) go missing in the animation or the animation just does not animate.

I am trying to add an outline to text. Follow all the instructions and it has worked in the past, but most of the time it doesn't.
I select the text, then choose "path from text".
At this point the marching ants come out - but they only come out for about 2/3 of the text. The rest doesn't have them. When i try to create the outline it only creates it for the first two thirds. The missing 1/3 is on the right hand side. I tried to do a screen shot but the marching ants don't show.
When i upgraded recently the issue went away so i thought it was just a bug, but now its back.

How do you add a "pattern" to a frame around a picture. The reason I ask, is when you go to make a frame around something, it asks you what "color" you desire. I don't want a "color", I want a "pattern" (the birch wood pattern).

So I have this gif animation and I want to add a background to it. when I add a new layer (the background layer) and draw something on it (like as an example: a field of daisies) and save the layers as an animation than..well..you guessed it..it participates in the animation.
So how to add a background without harassing the animated layers?

I've got an image I'm trying to make my wallpaper thats a 1024 x 768 image. My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 so if I use the image and use the "fill" option to have the image fit my background perfectly it won't fit and some stuff gets cut off. I have to use the "fill" option instead" of "fit" which gives it borders kind of like of how I want because I'm rotating wallpapers and this is the only one that doesn't work under "fill"
What I want to do is just import my image into gimp and then add some paint on the right and left outside the image to make it wider so it would fit as my background without some stuff getting cut out.
Is there a way to import an image into gimp and then add some paint outside the image and then save the new image with the paint outside the original image onto my hard drive?

I'm creating text along a path and then stroking the outline and adding a gradient fill - this is all fine. The problem comes when I want to move it, as once the text is added along the path, it often doesn't follow the path until the end so I'd like to centre it on the page, or maybe move it vertically a bit to fit around other stuff as I add to the image.

I used select by color to select this STEELERS word logo from this image below:
Now I cut and pasted it to a youth flag football team pic in the corner. But because I captured some of the sky in the background, the yellow STEELERS logo kind of blended in at that point as seen here (I cropped out the team and am just showing the corner):
Is there a way to select this logo by color and at the same time maybe widen that selection by a few pixels to capture some of the black around the STEELERS logo so that when I transfer it to the team pic, it stands out more by essentially creating a border around it?

I thought I was getting a partial hang of how to use part of GIMP, but couldn't get things to work the way I want. I'm trying to add sides to some images - for example, an image is 250 x 420...I want to make the width 420 by adding sides to the image, each added side being 85 pixels each, centering the image in the 420 x 420 image. I added a new layer, then moved the new layer so that the image was centered...seemed to work.
I then want to add my site's background color to those sides so that the centered image stands out without "interfering" with the site coloration and a "larger image" link appears centered below the total image. A "bad" image can be seen here:
[URL]....
What I'm trying to achieve can be seen here ( friend of mine did this for me with a different program):
[URL]......
No matter what I've tried, I've been unable to add coloration to the added sides, and reading the layers parts of the manual hasn't provided me with an answer. what I need to do after I add the new layer and center the image on top of it?

I am trying to make a montage/collage for my sister's birthday and have the background image and the other images all sorted.
What I would like to do now is add text saying 'Happy Birthday' into the main image, so that it looks as though it is part of the background.
I'd like it to sink into the background or be embossed and take on the colors of said background too, if possible.

I've been using Gimp for sometime now. It's a fantastic program, but I thought the area where it lacked the mostwas the brushes. It only came with a few basic brushes, and you often hadto download extra packs for that something extra. This in itself wasn't ahuge deal, although if you had brush sets more like those of PaintTool SAIor MyPaint, that would be really great. Those program don't have as much asGimp, but they have some really great brushes, which makes them fun to drawin.
My bigger concerns is adding your own brushes to Gimp via imported brushpacks. While you say you integrate all files, the brush manager is lacking. If I wish to add a few brush packs to see what they do, the brush listquickly becomes clogged. You can't seem to delete brushes without goingback into the brushes folder which you first put them in, and then deletethe files. This also means if you like a few brushes in a pack, but therest of it is useless to you, then you have to have everything, or nothing.
There is a lot to be desired in terms of the brushes, and I hope you canimprove these soon. I stand by Gimp, even though people often call it awatered down version of Photoshop, but Gimp 2.8 has been a hugedisappointment for me.
On a final note, when choosing a new brush, especially for the animatedtexture brushes you include, I think it would be useful if youautomatically went to the brushes native size. This saves time and energy, especially if you are testing out new brushes. MyPaint has this feature, and I have found it incredibly useful. This also means I can just click thebrush a second time to reset it to the default settings.

I am trying to add a grey scale mask to a layer so I can alter some game files .But I must be missing something blindingly obvious. Here is how I create a mask in PSP6.
-First I duplicate the base layer.
-Then I adjust the saturation to -100%(grey). Then I adjust the lightness to +100%..This gives a grey scale image.
-I then increase the brightness by 25% and the contrast by 50%. This gives a grainy bright and high contrast grey scale image.
-I then create a mask and then add the mask to a blank layer.
This allows me to spray away to my hearts content and leaves the main detail on the original image untouched. By this method I can add mud effects to tank tracks in games and still see the original link details through the mud.
But I am having major issues trying to achieve this effect in gimp.At the moment this hurdle is stopping me getting to grips with gimp.
