Years ago I was able to type %% and a letter so the diameter symbol appeared.
I have forgottoen all the codes over time
Is there an easier way to get those symbosl inserted in a text string (diameter, degree etc) with 2013?
I'm specifically needing to put a superscript number in a text item (eg cubic meteres...).
Does any table of those codes?
I would like to add Greek characters to an image, to describe some properties of a circle, arcs, angles, etc.
Is this possible with GIMP? If so, how?
I have Photoshop CS and when I try to use the text tool, it does not print out characters but straight lines. So if I type A it is reproduced on the screen as ---- and if I type B it is reproduced as --- and so on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mountain Lion Mac. Got a weird problem with one of my fonts. I'm used to type accented characters like é by typing option-e plus e. Which works so far. On one of my fonts however, EuroComic, when I want to type the é character and start with option-e, it already changes the font to Myriad Pro. Typing the e after that makes it é, but in Myriad Pro, not EuroComic. It has always worked before when I was still using Snow Leopard. And it's not a font problem I think, cause in Indesign that same way of using option-e plus e works. The é is at the correct spot in EuroComic cause when I select all text and change it to EuroComic (after having typed that é), not only does all text turn into EuroComic again, but also that now Myriad Pro é turns back to EuroComic é. What could it be that could make illustrator turn the font to Myriad Pro after typing option-e on that parcitular font? With other fonts like Arial etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have tried tooth and nail to use the Path tool and every tutorial explains it so simply but nothing will work. I cannot text to path.It should be so simple but it is not. I make a vertical path then select the text tool and type my text. Then hit text to path and nothing happens.Rotation doesn't give me the same quality in the final result so that's out.
View 8 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop (any version) has historically had an issue with typing speeds. If you type too fast, double letters will come out as single letters. The previous line would've looked like this: "If you type to fast, double leters wil come out as single leters"
This mainly happens when typing fast, and any of these conditions are met:
- the file is big
- you haven't restarted photoshop in a while
- you've been doing some work (lots of history states)
Basically, as soon as the memory fills up, Photoshop's responsiveness becomes pretty poor when you're typing.I don't expect a solution for this, other than a patch/update, since this is an issue on any machine with any (performance) settings.
I have a jpg of a Pokémon picture that the filename is Japanese character text, and Gimp ALWAYS give a "failed to open '?????????????.jpg'" error message when opening files containing Japanese characters!!! I can put Japanese characters using the text tool into a picture using gimp so I KNOW it knows the Japanese charset, but that error message ALWAYS occurs with images with filenames containing Japanese characters.

My husband and I get floor plan layouts emailed to us for work. I am able to import them and everything looks fine. I add all my text and everything looks great on my computer screen.
When I export it in a PDF file and open it up all the text is super small and sometimes not in the same place I typed it. When we print them out they need to be 36x24 so the writing needs to be somewhat big and in the right place. I am sure it is just user error!
I'd like to copy and paste text created in MS Word onto photographs. I'd like to create a poster with an inspirational message super-imposed upon the picture itself.
Will GIMP allow this?
I am trying to add an outline to text. Follow all the instructions and it has worked in the past, but most of the time it doesn't.
I select the text, then choose "path from text".
At this point the marching ants come out - but they only come out for about 2/3 of the text. The rest doesn't have them. When i try to create the outline it only creates it for the first two thirds. The missing 1/3 is on the right hand side. I tried to do a screen shot but the marching ants don't show.
When i upgraded recently the issue went away so i thought it was just a bug, but now its back.
I have noticed a small annoying behavior of autocad when adding certain characters to an MText object.
For example, if I have MText containing "hello" it will be at a different vertical position to MText containing "hello/". Autocad changes the vertical placement when adding characters it seems, possibly to avoid clashing.
Is there anyway to suppress the auto adjustment autocad makes to the vertical placement to accommodate these characters? I have the text elements spaced suitably from the line to avoid clashes but some wire numbers have characters and some don't, so it leaves the drawing looking somewhat messy. (see below)
Currently i have to adjust each wire number containing characters so it sits at the right vertical placement.

I know how to create text with a background picture inside the text. I want to put this text onto another image. So the text with the background inside the letters, will be superimposed on new image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm creating text along a path and then stroking the outline and adding a gradient fill - this is all fine. The problem comes when I want to move it, as once the text is added along the path, it often doesn't follow the path until the end so I'd like to centre it on the page, or maybe move it vertically a bit to fit around other stuff as I add to the image.

I am trying to make a montage/collage for my sister's birthday and have the background image and the other images all sorted.
What I would like to do now is add text saying 'Happy Birthday' into the main image, so that it looks as though it is part of the background.
I'd like it to sink into the background or be embossed and take on the colors of said background too, if possible.
I want the yin yang sign at the end of my text banner. how to do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm building a site with WordPress and installed a plugin that will create a slider of images on the front page. For each image, there is specific text that goes with the image (just a simple quote). If it's possible to use Gimp to add text to the side of an image and not actually on the image?
Here's a link to the front page of the site that I'm attempting to add the text to. Currently, the photos are there and you will see the blank space next to the images. This blank space is where I would like to add the text. I've contacted the creator of the plugin and there is no way of doing this from within the plugin, itself.

I had several CorelDraw documents that crashes on me, and the auto-backup did not work.
In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
Any ideas how ot fix this? Every time I try to enter text, the edges of the text is surrounded/selected with lines going around it....how do I stop that and have it stop turning my image red (Its supose to be brown, until I click it then it turns red), it isnt even using the correct colors that I set it at.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had been using 2.8.0, adding some text to graphics. I came back from a brief break, and the next time I added text, the font was extremely narrow, to the point that it was illegible.
At first I tried simply shutting GIMP down and restarting. No such luck. Next, I uninstalled GIMP, then I ran CCleaner to get rid of any residual files and settings, then I reinstalled GIMP, still using the 2.8.0 Windows installer, and still, the issue persisted.
** EDIT ** I tested ALL fonts, the problems happens with each one.
So I uninstalled again, did the CCleaner thing, then downloaded and installed 2.8.8, and the problem still persists.
Again, fonts and texts had been working without an issue all day. I stepped away from my PC to get food. There was no one in the house that could have messed with any settings, no pets to accidentally press keys or anything like that.
I am at a complete loss. I've looked at every possible setting I could think of that could possibly impact how fonts are rendered, and changing settings still does nothing.
I have found an inconvenient workaround for this problem, but at least I can now get some work done.
The problem still occurs when I try to insert text into an EXISTING image, but if a create a NEW IMAGE with a background color, text displays and renders as it should. If I choose a transparent background, I still get the problem with the text rendering too narrow to be legible.
So something about existing images and/or transparent backgrounds contributes to this issue. But as long as I create my text layer in a new image, I can then just copy and paste that layer into the image I want to edit, and I can even edit the text once it has been pasted without problems.
Still, this is very inconvenient, especially when I am trying to place text in precise positions.
I am getting a strkethrough line over the middle of the text when I type any text- How do you get rid of it? The character menu when I pull it down does not seem to get rid of it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 LT to 2013 (a huge jump), and I'm now tying to use MLEADER command.
When I create a new leader, the text I create for it does not display on screen or even in the command line while I am typing, which means I have an absurd number of typos, I'll get distracted mid-sentence and forget where I was, etc.
This is bad. I'm assuming there's some sort of system variable that turns this on and off?
Possible relevant info: leader scale is set to "annotative," leader style is "MTEXT."
The 'saying' I am trying to create in a spiral format is 165 characters and spaces. I have pasted it into the spiral effects text box. It will only accept 65 characters in the text box.
If I use the circle effect, I can paste all 165 characters and spaces and the circle adjusts to the size where the entire saying fits into one circle.
How do I expand the amount of characters and spaces the spiral text box will accept and use to create the text image I want?
