GIMP :: Adding Pattern To A Frame Around A Picture
Jan 29, 2013
How do you add a "pattern" to a frame around a picture. The reason I ask, is when you go to make a frame around something, it asks you what "color" you desire. I don't want a "color", I want a "pattern" (the birch wood pattern).

Is there a way to add a "photo frame" to a picture? Like, is there a library or set of frames that can be used on the edges of pictures in a simple click or two?
I am wanting "pretty" frames for adding photos to printed coffee mugs etc.

What I want to do, is take the path tool, make a pattern around a picture (which is rectangle) placing it on a picture of a board like this...and then pull the picture horizontally, and vertically, to make it circular, to fit the perimeter of the board. If I understand it correctly, when you use the path tool...it allows you to make an image round (from rectangular) is that true?

I have a png file of the painted aircraft with rivets shown. I want to add registration numbers ( solid color fonts) BUT I want to see the rivets underneath.
When I just use standard Text tool over the background with the rivets, they disappear.

I would like to display an image behind an image in the area that I selected only. Does that make sense? Let's say I have a picture where the sky looks white and I want to add blue sky with clouds from another image exactly where the sky should be. Is that easy to accomplish?

I want to pattern some rollers against a side frame. So I have the feature selected, the spacing, and I clicked on 'curve length' so it will adjust when I change the overall length of the frame. However, it will also change the spacing of the feature as well.
Do I need to develop a parameter formula, that will go the distance of the length of the frame, while maintaining the same spacing in between rollers, rather than spacing them out?

My job, right now, is to model a industrial air duct (a <<TURRET>> for those who know what that is)
This air duct begins with a conical shape (61'-0" to 42'-6"). But because of its huge size we don't have much choice to add stiffeners to strengthen the structure.
Here's my problem, for obvious reason that conical shape must be sent to field in different sub-assembly. But when they are send to field. They are not in a conical shape but in a flat pattern. So in short the stiffeners are welded on a flat plate in shop, but when it is lifted @ field that plate will naturaly <<more or less>> take its natural conical shape.
Now for my question: is there a way to do this with inventor without having to do two different assembly (one flat & one conical) for one sub-assembly?

I'm trying out AutoCad to see how easy it is to work with (previously I have used infinidi but it can't do what I want) to try and evaluate whether it's worth buying
what I'm after is to take a design I've made in Illustrator:
Screen shot 2011-07-11 at 12.52.52.png
and turn it into a cylinder:

But instead of applying the pattern as a surface, have it with depth.

I have a question regarding adding a force constraint in the Inventor frame analysis environment. When I add the fixed constraint to the beam the orientation indicator is incorrect - the square indicator being not parallel to the base of the beam. I would like to know why this is and as I am relatively new to frame analysis if I am doing something wrong. I have attached a screen shot of the placement of the constraint on the beam.

I was working in CAD wire-frame and I'm drawing a small plate 230*60*15, is there any way to turn this into a solid object or add edges to it, so it appears as 1 object?
I realise you can draw a simple 2d line and extrude the edges but what i want to know is can you add surfaces to the wire frame.

So I have been hired to map a pattern onto a picture of a bag so it looks like the pattern is on that bag. I have the whole adobe creative cloud so I have all the programs I could possibly use but I don't know how to make the bag look like it has a pattern on it. I know to to creat a geometrical shape, revolve it, and map a symbol onto it and I know to to make a symbol but what I'm trying to figure out is just to have a plain image and map a pattern on that.

Is there a relatively simple, automated tool in gimp to apply one picture's environment lighting properties to another picture?
So for example if i cut out an object from one picture that has pretty warm lighting environment, and put it in a cold light background it will look pretty out of place obviously, and this is what I would like to resolve.

So I created a new material and changed the yield stress and change my beam components to that new material. However when I run the simulation the yield stress is not what I made it. Is this allowed?

I'm trying to copy a pattern on a baby blanket in a photo, there was someone holding the baby and I was able to cut out the hands, and replace it with a general color from the eyedropper tool but now it just doesn't look right with the solid color. I tried to use the spot healing brush and coax the pattern onto the solid color but to no avail

I'm trying to create a batch of photos that will display properly on a digital picture frame. Unfortunately, the digital picture frame will stretch or compress the image in seemingly unpredictiable ways. It destroys the proper aspect ration of the images.
I'd like to create a preset for exporting these images that would create an image of a defined size (and aspect) with the photo. If the photo doesn't match the sizes defined the preset should create the best fit then letterbox the photo so the image always matches the size of the photo frame but the aspect of the photo is preserved.
Essentially, it should create a background of a certain size then overlay the photo to best fit the dimensions while preserving the aspect ration. This would provide an image file that would always be the defined size of the picture frame thus preventing the frame from distorting the aspect ration of the image.I don't see a way to create an export preset to accomplish this.

1 Open 2nd image
2 Click the dropper tool on the 2nd image-the foreground colour in the met palette changes to that colour(blue)
3 Click on foreground colour box
4 Click on background colour box-wanted colour shows-OK.
5 Select flood fill tool
Then the foreground colour changes to white. Not doing step 4 ends up with white too.

I would like to control the actual picture frame size when making a Book in Lightroom 5. Or else know the sizes of the different picture frames provided by choosing the different page layouts. That way I can either change the picture frame dimensions to accomodate each photo or change the image size to fit in the offered picture frame. I find that using the software as is winds up cropping the images in unwanted ways. Modifying the picture frame would be my preferred alternative.
