GIMP :: Adding Lettering Over Rivets Pattern
Jul 26, 2013
I have a png file of the painted aircraft with rivets shown. I want to add registration numbers ( solid color fonts) BUT I want to see the rivets underneath.
When I just use standard Text tool over the background with the rivets, they disappear.

How do you add a "pattern" to a frame around a picture. The reason I ask, is when you go to make a frame around something, it asks you what "color" you desire. I don't want a "color", I want a "pattern" (the birch wood pattern).

I would like to publish the custom threaded rivets library. I wish I could add it to Rivets section but it is not available in the Component Authoring.
Actually I did create it in the Clevis Pin section but I would like some order in my library where everything is set on a right place. I mean I wish my rivets will be placed in Rivet section.
Possible to make Rivets available in the Component Authoring?
There are any ways to move it to other section after Publishing? Is it possible to create the custom section which will be available and visible in Component Authoring?

I have an assignment in school in which we are going to calculate the number of needed rivets and their dimensions to join two pieces of aluminum with the dimensions 5x50x200mm together.
I've created the sheet metal and imported two of them into an assembly along with 8 rivets from the content center with the appropiete dimensions. In comes my problem. I planned on running a stress analysis and pasting the pictures of the results in my report. However, I have a feeling that the stress analysis tool isn't working as it should.
No matter what force I'm applying to the sheet metals, and no matter what material I assign to the different parts, including the rivets, the results, the deformation and force applied to the rivets, are roughly the same.
I've applied a force of 12700N to the two short sides of the sheet metals:
The two sheet metals are also fixed on the opposite side of the forces:

I'm trying out AutoCad to see how easy it is to work with (previously I have used infinidi but it can't do what I want) to try and evaluate whether it's worth buying
what I'm after is to take a design I've made in Illustrator:
Screen shot 2011-07-11 at 12.52.52.png
and turn it into a cylinder:
Screen shot 2011-07-11 at 12.52.56.png
But instead of applying the pattern as a surface, have it with depth.

When adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.
Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.

I've got a client who is asking for something I can't figure out how to do. She wants me to create lettering for her logo where the lettering is made of stripes. Not like masking, but imagine that toothpaste aquafresh where you squeeze it out and it's striped. So for example, we need to do an S in a circle and she wants the S to look like it's made of stripes, as if you squeezed toothpaste out of a toothpaste tube which was striped in the shape of a letter S.
Any ideas?

My problem is we need to have the lettering on the concave side of the sign. How would I make the flat lettering I have in the elevation shot follow the curve of the sign in the plan view?
I usually do most of my autocad drawing in 2d, I've done a few things in 3d but I'm not that experienced. I say that because I was thinking maybe I could make a 3d model of the flat elevation shot and bend it into radius I need.

I'm making a drawing in Inventor and I have several views and details and sections. Throughout making the drawing, I've created and deleted views. Whenever I do this, say the first view I placed was 'L', and then I delete view 'L', and make a new view. Inventor automatically labels this view 'M' instead of 'L', even though I don't have an 'L' view. This has caused me to have big gaps in the lettering of my views. Is there a way to "reset" the lettering so Inventor goes back through and re-letters everything starting from 'A'?

Remember Chartpak or Zip-A-Tone shading film? I REALLY miss it. Not too sure Photoshop 6.0 fills the bill for what I want to achieve but that's the look I want to add to my existing images. I want to do it similar to "bucket-filling" an existing open area. That's about all I want to do. But there are so many steps needed in order to achieve such a basic look. My question regards how to actually achieve or what steps I need to take in order to add that dotted pattern to my existing images (line art)...
All of the previous tutorials are so complicated, involving so many steps. Are there any actual steps or lessons I can see to try this? Look at the strip For Better Or For Worse...that strip has the best dotted effects...how to achieve that look in PS6?

I dont know how I should export a pattern. I did it before, followed some steps from a youtube video and everything went fine. Now I am trying to export a pattern again but its not working
If I export the pattern: somePattern.pat on my desktop. It doesnt appear in the list of patterns(Bucket FIll > Pattern FIll)
If I try to export it(save it) in C:/programfiles/gimp2
It tells me that I don't have the permission to do so. I also tried: C:/programfiles/gimp2/share/gimp/2.0/patterns. Still when I try to save it is telling me that I don't have the permission to save there.

Why my Ioline cutter keeps leaving these little 'tags' on my lettering? It almost as if it doesn't finish the cut through or something. Can it be fixed? Its not because the blade needs changing, because it does this even after Ive just changed the blade.

I want to know how I can put a pattern on an image. It needs to be an image with a transparent background. For example, this image (that I found on Google):
(this is a huge picture, I am just using it as an example).
Its a PNG image. Its a star template, filled with a pattern of stars....how can I do this using Gimp? I want to make different stars like this one..some with cheetah pattern, some with zebra pattern etc.
I know it has to do with the layers or something
Also, does Gimp come with templates I can use? Like a star, for instance?

I'm trying to remove a fill pattern I added to an image but I've since saved and closed the original so I can't simply undo it. I'll attach a copy of the image but in short it is a simple polygonal map of the world, I filled the continents in with a simple checkered pattern and would like to remove it so they are all blank.

My husband and I get floor plan layouts emailed to us for work. I am able to import them and everything looks fine. I add all my text and everything looks great on my computer screen.
When I export it in a PDF file and open it up all the text is super small and sometimes not in the same place I typed it. When we print them out they need to be 36x24 so the writing needs to be somewhat big and in the right place. I am sure it is just user error!
