GIMP :: Teal Text With Whitish Shadow Surrounding It
Jun 23, 2011Not sure how to make/use text like the image shows i.e Teal text with a whitish shadow surrounding it.
Tried to use blur with text of a different color on multiple layers but it did not seem to work.
3ds Max :: Put Glow Effect On Inside Face For Full Length
Jul 11, 2012I have a series of tubes joined end to end to produce a long tube in several sections. I need to put a glow effect on the inside face for the full length, but have a graduated effect so that one end is glowing very hot, and then have a smooth transition to warm at the other end.
I tried applying individual glow effects to each section but the stepping is obvious.
I then tried adding a glow effect with a Gradient map added to the "Additional effects" on the options tab. This didn't seem to do much and there don't appear to be any parameters to control the gradient.
What is the best way to achieve the desired effect?

Apr 10, 2013I have some images, this image contain a real picture of house from outside with a wall in front. I want to wrtite a word in that wall in a way that people will see this picture will think that the word is wrotten to wall of house and not guess that it is made by a software.
Also, suppose that there is already a word written in the wall, is it possible to replace that word with some other word, in a way that people will not guess it is made by a software.

Sep 10, 2013I have a banner for a site of mine that needs to change every couple or weeks or so. The part that we need to change is the text.
I have a glow around the text. I used the expand layer, make transparent, and grow way, but if I ever try to change it the glow won't match the text.
How to get a glow around text but make it be able to change at a later point in time without having to redo the entire glow, basically just change text and the glow will go with it?
GIMP :: Buttons Glow When Clicked
Jun 21, 2011I'm a software developer currently developing an audio application. I need some buttons (Play, Record, Pause, etc.) that glow when they are clicked. I've found some tutorials for 3D glass buttons however that's not quite the effect I'm after.

Mar 15, 2012This seems like a simple task, but I've had trouble matching up with it well. I have graphics of some book pages, and would like to make them glow/radiate very similar to this video from a Star Wars documentary:
The main issue so far is just making it really look like it's glowing, rather than just everything getting brighter. I tried Filters > Aristic > Softglow, but that didn't work too well.

Jul 30, 2004I have a picture I was asked to make for someone and there are 2 images that I would like to have a gold glow coming from, as if there were a light behind it. It'll be on a black background and there's nothing really fancy about it at all, though if I see anything that'd fit in, I might add it ;-)
I'm guessing that I'll need to place sumthing gold behind the image and add some sort of effect to the border, but I'm not really sure what that'd be.
3ds Max :: Alpha Maps Always Have Whitish Border
Mar 22, 2013No matter what I do to my maps and alpha channels, I always have a whitish border. It isn't necessarily noticeable, but it is especially noticeable with darker backgrounds. I want it gone completely. I have tried diluting the pixels around the map edges. Doesn't work.

Pic1: I simply use NVIDIA plugin to make it look kind a "3 D" or it's crafted out of wall.
Pic2: I scanned from an art book (a real sculpture).
I am not trying to get the pic1 to have all the thickness, depth like in pic2, how to change color on pic1 from gray to whitish like on the pic 2.

Dec 12, 2012how to fade to transparency by myself I am left with a residue problem when saving to a different file format.
I took my square image and pasted as a layer. Behind this is a raster layer flood filled with black (As the image will be going onto a black t-shirt). I used a rounded rectangle selection tool to make a mask somewhere just inside the image borders. I then applied a Gaussian blur to the mask and it faded the edges of the image beautifully. I checked with the black background layer off and again it faded nicely into transparency.
Now my issue is that when I save it as a PNG file (with background set to transparency of course) and try to use it against various coloured backgrounds there seems to be a white glow around the edges where it is meant to fade out.

Apr 22, 2013I'm confused about using the smudge tool inside a selection and I don't know if it's a lack of knowledge or bug within Gimp 2.8..
I paint a blue circular area with a thick black border around it. I fuzzy select the blue in the middle. I dodge one side and burn the other. I leave the selection where it is already and I want to smudge the blue hues to make a smoother transition. If I start the smudge from outside the selection, it will pull black into the mix.
Is this supposed to happen? Shouldn't the selection keep the black from being pulled in? If not, why not?
I've also noticed that occasionally(it's random, I don't know what I've changed or what) if I'm zoomed in, that some pixels outside the selection will change color if smudging outwards. It's only within maybe 2 or 3 pixels outside it.

Now I need to write my name in between these two..just like a round Rubber Stamp and I need to write something in the mid space of the two circles. Background should be white.
I have drawn the circle but I am not finding a way to write text in between the circumference of these two circles.

Nov 15, 2011Okay I have been a avid user of Photoshop for years and I mean well over 10 years now. And I thought why not try something new, plus I saw something that GIMP could do that Photoshop couldn't so I went ahead a downloaded the program, but since I am so used to Photoshop I sort of expected GIMP to be almost the same as Photoshop and well it isn't. (Don't judge me now) so I have a few questions on certain things.
1: How do you select an object inside the layer, with PS you can just ctrl click in the window and poof it's there around your selected item, But GIMP doesn't do that so how do you do that in GIMP?
2: When using the circle tool, I get this green box thing around the whatever it's called and I don't see any marching ants. What am I doing wrong and how do I get that to go away if it's possible?
3: where is the crop tool? What does it look like?
4: How come some of the options for the brushes won't allow you the change them? like for instance, if I go to windows>brushes and double click on any of the brushes another window pops open and it says: Brush editor read only. What does that mean? You can't make any of the brushes in spatter brushes?
