GIMP :: How To Blend One Image Inside Another
Jan 25, 2013
How do you take an image, and set another image inside of it. Using a gradual blending transformation, where you are able to see the main image, with a gradual transformation to the image you placed inside.

i was wondering if it would be possible to get a plugin or maybe there's a way to do this that would 'blend' the border of one image that you paste on top of another, larger image. so that the borders wont contrast - like a black dot on a white page.
if that description doesn't make sense, imagine using such a tool on a a black dot on a white page. it would make the outer part of the circle transition from black, to dark grey, to a lighter grey, and then to white...

When I copy a selection from one image to another, I can't select the feather tool to blend it in the new image (it's greyed out). I have to first anchor the layer, then use the paths tool to re-select the pasted portion again, then feather. Is there another way?
Update: Looks like I can feather before copying/pasting the selection.

I resized it to fit the background notepad and made several identical copies of the texture layer, their only difference being different values for "blend if underlying layer", so that the texture smoothly ends with the underlying notepad on each side (as there are luminosity differences both on the notepad and the notepads background).
That looks fine for "normal blending" (dont worry about the messy bottom, it will be cropped when everythings done). But I actually need the texture to be multiplied with the background layer. Obviously setting each layer to multiply isnt going to cut it because they would multiply each other, too. So I need to either put all the layers into a smart object (option 1) or option 2, which Ill resort to here put all layers into a group set to multiply, since this way all of the layers in the group are put together first and the composite group is then treated as a single image and blended with the rest of the image, using multiply.
... whereas I rather expected the result to look like this (I only roughly masked the edges for demonstration purposes):
To me it seems, as if putting the group would nullify the "blend if underlying layer" settings for each layer. Besides, the same happens if I use a smart object instead of the group (option 1). I dont see why this should happen at all.
So my questions: Is this behaviour deliberate? And if so, can somebody explain ?
a solution to get to the last screenshot (without masking manually obviously) ?

I have some images, this image contain a real picture of house from outside with a wall in front. I want to wrtite a word in that wall in a way that people will see this picture will think that the word is wrotten to wall of house and not guess that it is made by a software.
Also, suppose that there is already a word written in the wall, is it possible to replace that word with some other word, in a way that people will not guess it is made by a software.

There are many examples of creating rectangular patterns, but not many, if any, of interrogating existing patterns.I have attached the files and a screenshot of a rectangular part inside an assembly. The part contains a rectangular pattern of holes and workplanes.how do I get hold of each proxy of the workplane in the pattern? In other words I don't know what to put in the for loop at the end of this code fragment:

If _invApp.Documents.Count = 0 Then MsgBox("Need to open an the assembly document") ReturnEnd If If _invApp.ActiveDocument.DocumentType <> DocumentTypeEnum.kAssemblyDocumentObject Then MsgBox("Need to have an Assembly document active") ReturnEnd If Dim asmDoc As Assembly Document asmDoc = _invApp.ActiveDocument Dim asmDef As AssemblyComponentDefinition asmDef = asmDoc.ComponentDefinition im occurrences As ComponentOccurrencesoccurrences.

I've just downloaded the new version of gimp 2.8 and have started fiddling around trying to get myself accustomed. I've been having a problem modifying a blend after it has been rendered.
Somehow I thought I remembered that Gimp 2.6 allowed you to dynamically update the blend after it had been rendered the first time by changing settings like opacity, color, etc...
It seems that the only way to change the rendered blend is to change the settings and redo the blend.
Am I just dreaming that this should be a dynamic function? Is there a bug I'm not aware of?Am I missing something in the process?

I'm trying to make a rounded-corner box with a gradient-style border. Obviously, the straight sides of the box are easy to create the effect for, but not so the rounded-corners.
How to I get the gradient to follow the curve - to blend from the curved edge - rather than just giving me a linear gradient as if I was doing it from a rectangular corner?
I tried some other gradient types, there didn't seem to be anything that did the trick.
I'll try to attach a quick test file, if it lets me, to illustrate what I'm talking about. Note how the gradient cuts out diagonally across the rounded corner rather than curving and following the corner around.
Or is there a different way to create this kind of border?

About a year ago I created this picture using gimp (ignore the text) .
My problem is that I have completely forgotten how I did it and now I need to know how.
So how to create the blend effect in the upper right of the circle (again don't worry about the text)?

I obviously got far enough to add the images together and get the correct size. I just cant find any tutorials to show me how to make the layers blend and look more natural. I added a new background to an image and I want it to look like it belongs there:

First I pick out a foreground color, then a bg color. Now there is already a nice gradient in the blend box below the toolbox. Is there any way I can just save that? It's all I really need but in a larger size. I could just take a screen shot of it and then edit that with Gimp, but it seems like there must be a way of doing that within gimp.

I used to work in Photoshop and GIMP, but then became sidetracked. I've forgotten half of it. I used to make siggies for others all the time, although I really was guessing my way through some of it. I knew I could do better.
Anyway, I figured it'd be wise to start with a really basic question. I'll use the pic below as an example.
In a pic such as this one, how would you go about seamlessly blending the edge of the picture with the background? (All I did so far was have 2 separate layers; the picture of the hottie, and then behind it of course was just the template where I tried to match the pink from the hotty pic).
I'm also curious about just blending 2 or more photographs together to create a collage. I've done this before, but I know I made it harder and more tedious than it had to be. So.... would a collage have to be done a little differently.
I used to go about all this various ways way back when, but like I said... I've forgotten half my little tricks which I know really weren't the correct and easiest route to go about it.

The other is a woman's face with greenish grayish background bhind her but a little to the right is the plain green box. How do i blend the green into her background? I have seen the blending of two photos together but what if it is the same photo?

When using the blend tool to blend colour between two objects is there a way to see the anchor points so I know where to click the blend tool.  I realise the cursor changes when over one but its seems very cumbersome to have to move it around until it changes rather than click directly on one which I could do if I could see it.

I'm using Illustrator CC (on a Win7 Pro machine) at a beginner level, probably halfway to intermediate. I'm trying to learn how to blend colors together for highlights of various types (skin tones, clothing, light on objects, etc.) so that when I'm making a graphic for a project I'll have a decent idea of which tool/technique is best for the specific effect I need.
Â
I'm trying to use the Smooth Color option in the blend tool. Late yesterday afternoon I recall creating two ellipses (one of which was a solid fill and one of which was a gradient going from black to transparent) and getting a smooth color transition between the two. It was a much harsher effect than I was looking for so I didn't keep it. This morning, while trying to replicate the same thing, I seem to be unable to use smooth color between two objects if one or more of them has a gradient applied. I only get what you see below, which is a step between the two objects.
Â
I've done searches and found multiple references to blending gradients in this way and have followed those instructions (create the shapes, fill with the gradients, then either click on the Blend tool and click on the center of each shape, or click on Object -> Blend -> Make) but I can't seem to get a Smooth Color blend if either object has a gradient applied. Am I missing an important step somewhere? I'm 95% sure I accomplished it yesterday and nothing has been changed since then.

Photoshop CS2, I have two images (ImageA and ImageB),2) I want to place ImageB onto a canvas with ImageA - this I can do,3) When I place ImageB onto the canvas and nudge it to ImageA, I want the RIGHT side of ImageA to Blend/Merge/Feather with the LEFT side of ImageB. The result is that I do not want to see the edges of either images when they are nudged together. I'd like them to "Flow" together. Also, I'd like to be able to put a "Glow Around" then entire merged content, but Ithink I have a link that explains this. I am not sure of the terminology above - Blend/Merge/Feather

I am trying to blend two different art brushes with different colors using the blend tool. I'm trying to use two fixed-size line segments of the same length and then applying the two different brushes to those segments ( each art brush is a different color). Then I want to blend them the regular way so their colors transition. However, when I do this, the first shape is a different color, but all subsequent blend steps are the color of the second blended shape. Why is this? It doesn't blend the colors for some reason.
