I want to turn a dragon picture into an adult furry picture by adding a ***ina to it, I have selected the part from another photo but I want to adjust the color of the part to match the dragon's skin color..
I want to stretch the content of a floating selection to fulfill a path completely. For example, in the image below, how to automatically scale/distort/stretch etc... all pixels inside yellow antline to make it fit to the circle path outside.

View 1 Replies View Relatedpasting new layers happens so often it's getting a bit redundant to always move my cursor over to the Layers panel, right-click and select New Layer (just the way I have been doing it) to get around the Floating Selection behaviour.
I'm wondering if there is a keyboard shorcut, or if I can change the default behaviour to automatically paste it as a new layer and not as a floating selection, or if there is some other trick people here like using to save time.
As stated I'm using Mac OSX (ML) with GIMP 2.8.3.
I do realize this is probably a trivial matter for experienced users but I really cannot figure this one out by myself.
I dragged another GIMP image onto the main one, then tried to enlarge it (it worked) but the visible portion remains within the boundaries of the unscaled image..
I know how to blend selection edges of a selection in Gimp 2.8.2, but if I have only one side of a selection that needs blending, what should I do?
Lets say that I have a grey box on a black background and only want to blend the left vertical edge into the background.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using Illustrator CC (on a Win7 Pro machine) at a beginner level, probably halfway to intermediate. I'm trying to learn how to blend colors together for highlights of various types (skin tones, clothing, light on objects, etc.) so that when I'm making a graphic for a project I'll have a decent idea of which tool/technique is best for the specific effect I need.
I'm trying to use the Smooth Color option in the blend tool. Late yesterday afternoon I recall creating two ellipses (one of which was a solid fill and one of which was a gradient going from black to transparent) and getting a smooth color transition between the two. It was a much harsher effect than I was looking for so I didn't keep it. This morning, while trying to replicate the same thing, I seem to be unable to use smooth color between two objects if one or more of them has a gradient applied. I only get what you see below, which is a step between the two objects.
I've done searches and found multiple references to blending gradients in this way and have followed those instructions (create the shapes, fill with the gradients, then either click on the Blend tool and click on the center of each shape, or click on Object -> Blend -> Make) but I can't seem to get a Smooth Color blend if either object has a gradient applied. Am I missing an important step somewhere? I'm 95% sure I accomplished it yesterday and nothing has been changed since then.
This is something that I could do very easy with PS, just CTRL + click in the layer and the object get a selection around it. How I can create a selection for an "floating" object? Sometimes I need to remove some pixels around the object I cant find a way to select the contour of the object again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I have mad a selection with say an ellipse marque, of say 100px and now I want to fether that same selection outwards, ie to start the feather 10 px outward of the 100px selection so that the 100th px has a 100% transparency and the 110th px has a transparency of zero,thus making the new selection 110px, how could I go about doing it. With the current feathering of the selection, it feathers only in the marquee already selected, not outward, and you cannot place negative feathering px. I know that there is most likely some sort of a ration where you would expand the selection by a certain amount of px, and then apply a ratio of feathering to it to enalble it to feather outside of the 100px marquee.

I am scripting adding axes to an image and need to control of format of floating point numbers that will be passed to gimps text generation functions.
After pasting a new object in order to create a new layer, in thelayers menu there should be Floating Selection ("pasted Layer") like Burnie wrote. Forme, I right-click the "pasted layer" and select "New Layer", and the pasted object showsup as a new layer. From there, I make sure I deselect everything (SELECT > NONE), andthen use the move tool (making sure the cursor is over the pasted object) to click onthe object in your new layer in order to move it.
You can move it first too though (then press ctrl+shift+N to turn itinto a regular layer). I find that quicker, but whatever floats yourboat. Layer. Whatever.
don't know if it's a mac/pc problem or if it's a CS6 problem. I have been working with photoshop on PC for the past 9 years or so. I recently had to switch to CS6 on Mac.
I can no longer place my cursor in the blend modes field and use arrow keys to quickly toggle through them to find the ideal mode. I used to be able to preview 15 blend modes in just 5-6 seconds and land on the ideal mode... and get on with my project. NOW i have to click this button and click again on each blend mode... lengthening my process by up to 2 minutes. This is an ENORMOUS problem for me as choosing blend modes is critical in my day to day design work.
See the menu right next to it where you can type in the opacity? I can put my cursor in there and use arrow keys to adjust values. Blend mode NEEDS to work this way too. And this is on a mac. You simply HAVE to do something here. productivity impacted severely.
Also.. this problem exists in After Effects CS5 on pc. Let's get it fixed there too. I will hand-write you a letter of praise and send flowers if you can do this.

Right after one makes a selection, say by using the Rectangle SelectTool, is presented with handles that allow altering the selection.
If one then selects another tool without deselecting is being deprivedof these handles while the selection remains active thus rendering himunable to alter the selection in that fashion.
Thus forming my question: is there a way to make these handles to(re-)appear on a non-freshly created selection?
For example, I will use the lasso tool to make a selection on a photo, as soon as I attempt to do this the image disappears, goes black, it will flicker on and off, when eventually the image reappears the selection has not been made. This is the new Photoshop CC.

I am trying to make and save a selection to then manipulate. (I am following two different books.) In my attempt to make and save a selection, I've used several of the selection tools. I can easily get to the point where I have the 'marching ants' around the selection.Â
But when I try to save the selection a little window comes up that says there are 'no pixels selected'. I get to the point (using, for example, 'load selection' and 'save selection') that I name the selection but when I hit 'OK' the 'no pixels selected' notice pops up.
I've created a new layer and tried to save the selection in the layer. Same 'no pixels selected' notice comes up. I've tried to simply 'save the selection' - same 'no pixels selected' notice appears. I've tried 'copy as new layer', I've even tried to drag the selection over to the layer - nope, doesn't work!Â
Oh, and the really frustrating thing is that when I click out of the 'no pixels selected' notice window, my marching ants are gone and I have to start all over. How do you 'get' the selection into a layer?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to cut parts of a face out but just leave the eyes/mouth/and browse in tact and from what I heard I have to press ALT while making my selection but when I do that one part it's fine, but then when I press alt again on another part and make a selection I do not get those little crawling ants to show me what I have selected.
I am using the lasso tool.
I tried to install the "RMA Path Blend" plugin into my plugin folder, however it is not appearing in GIMP under Filters>Render>Path Blend.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just downloaded the new version of gimp 2.8 and have started fiddling around trying to get myself accustomed. I've been having a problem modifying a blend after it has been rendered.
Somehow I thought I remembered that Gimp 2.6 allowed you to dynamically update the blend after it had been rendered the first time by changing settings like opacity, color, etc...
It seems that the only way to change the rendered blend is to change the settings and redo the blend.
Am I just dreaming that this should be a dynamic function? Is there a bug I'm not aware of?Am I missing something in the process?
How do you take an image, and set another image inside of it. Using a gradual blending transformation, where you are able to see the main image, with a gradual transformation to the image you placed inside.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a rounded-corner box with a gradient-style border. Obviously, the straight sides of the box are easy to create the effect for, but not so the rounded-corners.
How to I get the gradient to follow the curve - to blend from the curved edge - rather than just giving me a linear gradient as if I was doing it from a rectangular corner?
I tried some other gradient types, there didn't seem to be anything that did the trick.
I'll try to attach a quick test file, if it lets me, to illustrate what I'm talking about. Note how the gradient cuts out diagonally across the rounded corner rather than curving and following the corner around.
Or is there a different way to create this kind of border?
I have a lot of images that were rendered out of 3DS MAX. A long time ago I recorded an action to make an alpha channel, use it as a mask, and save as 2 different file types. Worked great. Now, I need to open a bunch of these and somehow get rid of the anti aliasing around the image. I need crisp jaged edges. how to make an aliased selection?
