AutoCAD Map 3D :: Adding Geometry To Existing Feature Record Through FDO?

Aug 28, 2012

I'm running Map 2012 64 bit on Windows 7.  I've connected to an sdf file through FDO.  In the sdf file, it has points representing where people live.  Some of the records have the person's information, but no point associated with it.  Is there a way to add a point to an existing record through FDO?  Typically, i'll create a new point, then re-enter all the data i need for that person and then delete the old record.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Digital Record Of Existing Road Lane Slope

Feb 6, 2013

Civil 3D 2012 (or Civil 3D 2013)

Without automation development, what is the procedure to get a digital record of the existing road lane slope?

I recommend the following:

1

Use the OverlayWidenMatchSlope1 rehab subassembly to build a corridor, targeting the existing road surface

2

Make a report using Corridor > Feature Line Report, reporting the Links to get the slope

Am I correct?

GIMP :: Record Action Feature - Manipulating Several Pictures

Oct 31, 2013

I recently found GIMP and think it is amazing. I've been a PhotoShop user for years, and actually prefer GIMP. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is holding me back from using GIMP exclusively, and that is the Record Action feature. I have to manipulate about 100 pictures per day - simply resize a picture to 6x4" @ 300 dpi, save it, resize again at 100 dpi, put a 10 pixel; black border around it and save it to another directory. I can do this to a hundered picitures in about a minute with PhotoShop, but it takes quite a while with GIMP.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: How To Break Linked Polygons Created From New Feature From Geometry

Feb 6, 2013

I'm using AutoCAD Map 3D. I had some geometry that I needed to convert into a shape file, so I selected on the shp layer "New Feature from Geometry".  Everything converted to join the shape layer, but now it is all connected.  I want to move/edit individual polygons but when I go to select one it selects all of them.

I've noticed I can "create new feature" one at a time, but I'd really like to find how to unlink them after I've converted them in bulk.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Frame Elements (Reference To Non-existing Geometry)

Jun 11, 2013

I have an iCopy solution that when resized smaller than the master some frame members no longer reference existing geometry (and aren't needed).

Is there a way to delete these with an iLogic rule? Curtis has a neat solution for sick constraints, I was hoping to use the same type of rule, but I'm at a loss as to how to reference the frame elements.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Any Feature Is Not Recognized As Part Geometry Change Because rule Isn't Triggered

Dec 6, 2013

In our drawing file we expose the mass of the part. So I have set the 'Update physical properties on save' in the 'Application Options'. This works fine when you save your file before switching to the drawing file. If you forget to save and go to the drawing file the mass is showed as: N/A.

Therefore I have created a rule which updates the mass of the part. This rule is activated with the 'Part Geometry Change' event trigger. This is done to update the mass in the drawing file even when the partfile is not saved. This works fine. If I make any changes to the model the mass is updated correct, EXCEPT for deleting features. When I delete a feature and switch to the drawing file the mass is shown as N/A again. So apparently deletion of any feature is not recognized as a 'Part Geometry Change' because the rule isn't triggered.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Add Closed Sketch Loops To Existing Feature?

Nov 26, 2012

is there a way to use vb to add closed sketch loops to an existing feature?

I am trying to create a parametric template for a fan guard assembly, complete with drawings.

I am using an arrangement of circles defined using some linear sketch patterns as the cross-section of a revolved feature.  Using ilogic/vb, I want to automate the number and spacing of items in the linear pattern, and then update the loops selected for the revolved feature.

I have found code on this forum (courtesy of Curtis Waguespack) that I can use to select all closed loops and create a feature.  I can apply this code to create a NEW revolved feature, but I haven't been able to figure out how to use it to UPDATE an existing feature.

I need the feature to UPDATE rather than create new to maintain links in my assemblies and drawings.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Adding Final Feature To Design

I might have to redesign it slightly if a hinge is going to be added, but I think the only proper way of locking it is putting 4 locks on the 4 sides at the top of the crate. The top and bottom of the box are 2 separate parts that are the same.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding A Curve To Existing Alignment

Jan 4, 2009

I have an existing alignment issued to me which has been created using all straight lines even where there should be curves. I am trying to insert curves in these areas. Using free curves (2 entities and a through point) I create a curve then somethings happen I can't work out -

1. The curve is created but the original straight linework stays. I would have thought the original linework would automatically delete. See attached pdf between points 60 and 62 the curve and straights can be seen.
2. Then all stations after the curve are changed to the question mark symbol. If i click on the alignment all the grips are still there for the full length of the alignment, indicating the alignment is still in one piece.
3. If I try to create another curve further along the alignment it won't allow it. Stating on the command line "Selected entity must be part of the main entity."

I'm using C3D 2009.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Error Adding Breakline Message When Editing Surface With Feature Lines

Jul 11, 2012

I am working on a 6 mile highway project whose surface file is 85MB big. So, I created a Data Shortcut of this surface and used this for creating profiles. However, at some locations the corridors go below the surface(as per their original profile) which was not intended. So, I need to restrict the surface to follow the corridors but not go beyond it.

I have created feature lines from corridors and tried to add them as breaklines to the surface. But " error adding breakline" error pops up.

Is it because I am trying to add the breaklines to the mirror surface which I created from Data Shortcut ??

Will it be useful if I copy feature lines to original surface file and add these feature lines as breaklines in that file??
