I am populating iProperty "Description" field using expressions from the custom fields. These custom fields are exported from the parameters.
Is there a way of typing in extra plain text into the field onto the end of the expression without losing the expression formula?

I've been looking for a solution to remove the unit string ie Lbs, g, kg from the value given from a 'Mass' value in a text string.
As you may all know, creating text and having a 'physical property - mass' value...the unit string is there...
Lots of people on here have the problem...no-one has got a solution.
Until now...
Basically...open the part you need to get the mass property of in your text string.
Follow the instructions on this webpage...this is the first part...

Basically, this creates a Mass property value in the parameters table that you can call on as a text parameter.
It's similar to the custom iproperty model - mass but NOT the same.
Once you have done this, you can go to the drawing of the part and create a text string in the drawing and call it up as shown in this procedure. BUT it still has the unit string.
Here's the best bit that you want to know...
To get RID of the unit string...open up the part again from the drawing...click on the parameter icon...find the user parameter...in the Nominal value column, right click on the value and you get a pop-up that gives you 3 options...
Custom Property Format, Make Multi Value & Delete Parameter.
Click on Custom Property Format.
The pop-up window comes up...showing you the property type...in my case...the 4 left columns read Text, g (grams), Format & Precision...
On the right hand side I have a Preview of the text...then 3 check boxes...Units string, Leading Zero's, Trailing Zero's.
Units string is checked.
Uncheck it.
Close it...Save your part...go back to the drawing and hey presto!...the text now shows the weight you require as a straight value...no units!
Is it possible to automatically add custom iproperties using iLogic?
I have a rule thats adds text to a propery, but when I run the rule in an old partfile i get the error:
"Can't find a property named DrawingNo"
Is there something like:
"Create iProperties.Value("Custom", "DrawingNo")"?
I have just managed to create my own title block and have an area within for material. I always use the iProperties to populate the titleblock but there isnt a field for material? Is there a way to add a field so it does what i need?

It is meant to be used in ScriptPro (by loading lisp in script).
If not possible, then can also open each file and run the lisp in each of them - still would save lot of time.

Seems like you can build upon text using the appearance panel, but not visa-versa. Is that correct? I thought I was being proactive using the appearance panel the other day to build a burst that I was later going to add text to. But now that I have the text I cant find a way to add it into the appearance panel. I got around it by making what I had built into a graphic style and then applying that to the text. But I had to redefine the shapes that I had originally built to make it work.
Also, is there any way to break these elements apart when you use transform in the appearance panel? For instance, sometimes I will create a pattern using the transform tool and then I am asked to change the color of the shape in the middle.
Is it possible within Inventor to create multiple line text for an iProperty?
I have seen an iProperties editor add-on that includes the feature, but it seems there should be a way to do it within Inventor.
if I place from content centre > structural shapes > AS1163-1991 rectangle hollow sections - not all sections are there. For example I would like to use a 65x65x6 SHS section. The content centre only goes up to 65x65x3 SHS.

I am trying to export a user parameter that is a text string to a custom I property. I am able to export other parameters to custom properties that are numarical values. I export check box is missing on the text user parameter.

I am using ilogic in Inventor 2011 to update my iproperties when I save a .dwg file. I am having problems with some custom iProperties I have created that are of the type 'number' and are initially set to 0 (zero). After the iLogic rule has run and the user has entered a numeric value the type of the custom iproperty has changed to 'text'.
The ilogic code I am using is:

I have made this rule, that should fill out a cell in a spreadsheet with a text from IProperties.. but it seem to work only the first time. 2nd time i run it, nothing happends... not even the msgbox at the end...?!

Some of the records have the person's information, but no point associated with it. Is there a way to add a point to an existing record through FDO? Typically, i'll create a new point, then re-enter all the data i need for that person and then delete the old record.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an existing alignment issued to me which has been created using all straight lines even where there should be curves. I am trying to insert curves in these areas. Using free curves (2 entities and a through point) I create a curve then somethings happen I can't work out -
1. The curve is created but the original straight linework stays. I would have thought the original linework would automatically delete. See attached pdf between points 60 and 62 the curve and straights can be seen.
2. Then all stations after the curve are changed to the question mark symbol. If i click on the alignment all the grips are still there for the full length of the alignment, indicating the alignment is still in one piece.
3. If I try to create another curve further along the alignment it won't allow it. Stating on the command line "Selected entity must be part of the main entity."
I'm using C3D 2009.
how to add more fields to the dbf file of a shp (using AutoCAD Map 2010), other than calculation fields? I am often working on a shp and get asked to add more fileds to hold more data but cannot find a way to do in in AutoCAD (have to resort back to Arcview: but then that causes issues when I go back to the original CAD file that has the data connected to it).

You can ignore the Detail and Detail Attribute objects as they are also user-defined. Also note that this function expects the database to be currently open for working on.
Everything in this function works fine, but there is a strange quirk that becomes noticeable only when I use this function to edit an attribute that has its "Invisible" property set to "No".

However, if I am not entering in single or multiline text, but rather in a dimension annotation’s “override” field, I found that the newly entered text completely overrides the original dimensional annotation.
For example, if originally I had a diameter of 7.98, and I would like to put a Φ sign in front of it to make Φ7.98, but it seems that there is no way to preserve the original content of 7.98 together with the Φ sign.
