I am working with a country grid shape file that has 2994 grid numbers. I am trying to convert the shape file to an autocad image. However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe just installed the new version of 2012 Product Design Suite. I've spend many hours creating great little ilogic dialog boxes to populate iproperty fields using custom iproperties and then automatically place this data on the .idw file when the view is placed on the new drawing. All works great when the part is created with my new 2012 part template and then placed on my new 2012 idw template. The trouble is with parts that were created with 2011 Inventor. Obviously, the old template does not have the ilogic data built into it. Is there a way to upgrade/migrate the part template file from 2011 to 2012 on an existing part?
I think I'm asking for a miracle here, but I have an assembly with 40-50 parts that I created in 2011 and now need to build the idw files for them and would really like to be able have the customized iproperties added to the existing part files.
I usually work with blender and I have a problem with a file I downloaded. It is a parasolid file (x_t) which I can't open in Blender. I can't use CADexchanger as well because I am using a MAC. How to convert the file into a STL/OBJ/3DS file that I can import in Blender? I compressed the file and it is 5.8 MB so I can't attach it here and would have to send it manually.

I have some Inventor drawing files that a client wants in an AutoCAD 2007 format. Ever time I try to convert the .idw to an autocad .dwg I get this message, "Problems encountered while saving the document." So far this is what I've tried:
1. Save copy as -> Save as type: AutoCAD DWG files (*.dwg) -> error message
2. Export to DWG -> Save as type: AutoCAD DWG files (*.dwg) -> error message
I am able to save as an Inventor DWG but I need it as an AutoCAD DWG... I think. I read somewhere that Autocad 2007 won't read the DWG unless its in an AutoCAD DWG format.
I am running Inventor 2014 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.
I've received an STL file from a client which I can't edit or interrogate in Inventor LT. What's the best way to convert this into a solid?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried opening an Inventor Assembly file (.iam) with Microsoft Word, Notepad, and Wordpad but there is a big problem with text conversion. When I open them I get radical characters that makes it impossible for me to make sense out of.
My hope was to open an assembly file as a text document and modify it to get a different result when opening the model (i.e.- moving a part from one position to another in the assembly by modifying text). Sort of like when I modify a post processor in MasterCAM to produce a different program with if/then statements or changing text. Ultimately I want to create an assembly model that reflects our inventory as sort of a "virtual warehouse" where a quick look at the model would let you know where you have space to move and store new inventory.
I think being able to modify inventory locations by modifying text and letting the model update would be faster and easier than someone modifying the model at the end of each day with Inventor.
Is there any type of text conversion software that could take an Inventor assembly file and convert it into readable text?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to convert the “existing” hatch from one measurement to another?
In the screenshot below, the first hatch is drawn with “measurement” = 1 (metric), while the second is drawn when the measurement = 0 (imperial). The “measurement” value is not a property for the hatch!
Then how to convert the hatch that already exist and drawn with the “measurement” = 0 to the “measurement” = 1.
In other words, how to switch all the hatches in a particular plan from being “imperial” based (measurement = 0) to “metric” (measurement = 1)?
Is there a way to do that? Or should we delete the existing hatches and re-draw them with the required setting (metric/imperial)?
