View 1 RepliesI am having difficulty converting a STP file (made in SW) to a Parasolid Text file for a customer. I was going to post the model to Customer Files, but for some reason I cannot post on there? The file size is roughly 21MB
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am trying to open the 3D part file from Parasolid Document to Inventor but it reflected only half of the 3D model.
Attached is thepdf file of how exactly it looks like and the parasolid file also.
I have a Parasolid file that opens in Inventor 2012 but not in Inventor 2013.In 2013 i only have a blank screen.I have zipped the file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using 3D PDF Converter to convert my inventor models which have been saved by way of Export - CAD Format - Parasolid Binary Files. The default version is 25. You would think that this new version would be new and improved. However, it does not work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just started using inventor 2013 (from 2010) & the way colours/materials are applied has completely changed so I'm learning again from scratch.
Here's my issue: A customer has sent a casting to me in Parasolid format. When I open it, all the unmachined surface are blue & look a bit garish. However, the colours of the machined faces are ok & I wish to keep them.
So, I want to chage all the surfaces that are blue - I can use the picker & select all the blue faces seperately (by holding CTRL down & select each face one be one) but this is a pain & takes ages (there are over 200 faces)
I can see & edit the blue color in the manager but how do I tell Inventor to replace all - can it be done?
Am trying to convert this pump into solid ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
i have one assembly file. it was done in japanese Language. i need to change in english.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.
I've attached a jpg of the surface model with the yellow lines and uploaded the model here: [URL].....
I followed up their way as URL....but still I cannot get correct solid model when I try to convert attached STEP model to IPT. I just can get surface model, but I do not solid one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a research project that requires that I scan a cast object and shell it out to a width of .125 inches. I used my school's 3D scanner to scan the cast, and I have a good model. I've made it a surface and exported it as an STP and an IGS into Inventor. I used the Sculpt feature to make it a solid object, but then I could not shell it because a few flaws in the cast made miniscule holes.
I then tried to use the scanning program's spline feature to cut the cast into splines to loft in Inventor. However, this made 5 non-connected lines at each location, so I couldn't loft. How to create a solid and then shell with either method?
I am working with a country grid shape file that has 2994 grid numbers. I am trying to convert the shape file to an autocad image. However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI usually work with blender and I have a problem with a file I downloaded. It is a parasolid file (x_t) which I can't open in Blender. I can't use CADexchanger as well because I am using a MAC. How to convert the file into a STL/OBJ/3DS file that I can import in Blender? I compressed the file and it is 5.8 MB so I can't attach it here and would have to send it manually.

I have some Inventor drawing files that a client wants in an AutoCAD 2007 format. Ever time I try to convert the .idw to an autocad .dwg I get this message, "Problems encountered while saving the document." So far this is what I've tried:
1. Save copy as -> Save as type: AutoCAD DWG files (*.dwg) -> error message
2. Export to DWG -> Save as type: AutoCAD DWG files (*.dwg) -> error message
I am able to save as an Inventor DWG but I need it as an AutoCAD DWG... I think. I read somewhere that Autocad 2007 won't read the DWG unless its in an AutoCAD DWG format.
I am running Inventor 2014 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.
I've received an STL file from a client which I can't edit or interrogate in Inventor LT. What's the best way to convert this into a solid?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I place new text or line work in a file it is fine, but when I save the drawing, close it and re-open it all of the text and line work found in model space goes gray. Yet if I place new text and use the match property command on text placed previously, that is now gray, and use it on new text, the new text recieves the attributes of what the previously placed text has minus the appearance of being gray. In my drawing I am using a shape file and a data connect image through planning and analysis.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried opening an Inventor Assembly file (.iam) with Microsoft Word, Notepad, and Wordpad but there is a big problem with text conversion. When I open them I get radical characters that makes it impossible for me to make sense out of.
My hope was to open an assembly file as a text document and modify it to get a different result when opening the model (i.e.- moving a part from one position to another in the assembly by modifying text). Sort of like when I modify a post processor in MasterCAM to produce a different program with if/then statements or changing text. Ultimately I want to create an assembly model that reflects our inventory as sort of a "virtual warehouse" where a quick look at the model would let you know where you have space to move and store new inventory.
I think being able to modify inventory locations by modifying text and letting the model update would be faster and easier than someone modifying the model at the end of each day with Inventor.
Is there any type of text conversion software that could take an Inventor assembly file and convert it into readable text?
How I can check/uncheck the override text model check box in tolerance dialog (for a dimension in a .idw document), in a DLL add in. Is possible, or inventor api not include this possibility.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust installed 2013 Pro x64 and I'm doing a little testing. Using Tube and Pipe, I created a few mock pipe runs which are named according to a unique line number. When clicking on the Iproperties of any of these pipe runs, I can see that the value of model parameter "Part Number" now includes the name of the top level assembly and the line number, which is the name I assigned to the pipe run when I created it (see Fig 1 attached). Then in IDW I created a user defined symbol which contains text that I have directed to extract value of "part number" from the model properties, and fill in my symbol with that value (see Fig 2). The problem is, when I tag the pipe run with my custom symbol, the value in the symbol remains blank, instead of giving me the value of "part number". WHAT am I missing??
